'The Dwelling itself you wil make with ten sheets of finely woven linen dyed violet-purple, red-purpleand crimson. You will have them embroidered with great winged creatures.1 “Truly, thus shall you make the tabernacle: You shall make ten curtains of fine twisted linen, and hyacinth as well as purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, with diverse embroidery.
The length of a single sheet is to be twenty-eight cubits, its width four cubits, al the sheets to be of thesame size.2 The length of one curtain shall have twenty-eight cubits. The width shall be four cubits. The entire set of curtains shall be of one measure.
Five of the sheets are to be joined to one another, and the other five sheets are to be joined to oneanother.3 Five curtains shall be joined to one another, and the other five shall be similarly coupled together.
You will make violet loops along the edge of the first sheet, at the end of the set, and do the samealong the edge of the last sheet in the other set.4 You shall make loops of hyacinth on the sides at the edges of the curtains, so that they will be able to be joined to one another.
You will make fifty loops on the first sheet and fifty loops along the outer edge of the sheet of thesecond set, the loops corresponding to one another.5 A curtain shall have fifty loops on each of two sides, inserted in such a manner that loop may come against loop, and one can be fitted to the other.
You will also make fifty gold clasps, and join the sheets together with the clasps. In this way theDwelling wil be a unified whole.6 You shall also make fifty rings of gold, with which the veils of the curtains are to be joined, so that it shall be one tabernacle.
'You will make sheets of goats' hair to form a tent over the Dwel ing; you wil make eleven of these.7 You shall also make eleven haircloth canopies to cover the roof of the tabernacle.
The length of a single sheet must be thirty cubits and its width four cubits, the eleven sheets to be alof the same size.8 The length of one canopy shall hold thirty cubits, and the width, four. The measure of all the canopies shall be equal.
You will join five sheets together into one set, and six sheets into another; the sixth you wil fold doubleover the front of the tent.9 Five of these you shall join by themselves, and six of these you shall couple to one another, in such a manner as to double the sixth canopy at the front of the roof.
You wil make fifty loops along the edge of the first sheet, at the end of the first set, and fifty loopsalong the edge of the sheet of the second set.10 You shall also make fifty loops along the edge of one canopy, so that it may be able to be joined with the other, and fifty loops along the edge of the other canopy, so that it may be coupled with the other.
You wil make fifty bronze clasps and insert the clasps into the loops, to draw the tent together and tomake it a unified whole.11 You shall also make fifty brass buckles, with which the loops may be joined, so that there may be one covering out of all.
'Of the extra part of the sheets that overlap, half is to hang down the back of the Dwel ing.12 Then what will be left over of the canopies which are prepared for the roof, that is, one canopy which is in excess, from half of it you shall cover the back of the tabernacle.
The extra cubit on either side along the length of the tent sheets must hang down the sides of theDwelling on either side to cover it.13 And one cubit will hang down on one side, and another on the other side, which is more than the length of the curtains, protecting both sides of the tabernacle.
'And for the tent you will make a cover of rams' skins dyed red and a cover of fine leather over that.14 You shall also make another covering for the roof from the skins of rams, dyed-red, and above that again, another covering of violet-colored skins.
'For the Dwelling you wil make vertical frames of acacia wood.15 You shall also make the standing panels of the tabernacle from setim wood.
Each frame must be ten cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.16 Of these, each shall have ten cubits in length, and in width, one and one half.
Each frame must have twin tenons; that is how al the frames for the Dwelling must be made.17 At the sides of the panels, there shall be made two dovetails, by which one panel may be connected to another panel; and in this way all the panels shall be prepared.
You wil make frames for the Dwel ing: twenty frames for the south side, to the south,18 Of these, twenty shall be at the meridian, which lies toward the south.
and make forty silver sockets under the twenty frames, two sockets under one frame for its twotenons, two sockets under the next frame for its two tenons;19 For these, you shall cast forty bases of silver, so that two bases will lie under each panel at its two corners.
and for the other side of the Dwel ing, the north side, twenty frames20 Likewise, at the second side of the tabernacle, which lies to the north, there shall be twenty panels,
and forty silver sockets, two sockets under one frame, two sockets under the next frame.21 having forty bases of silver; two bases shall support each panel.
For the back of the Dwel ing, on the west, you wil make six frames,22 Truly, toward the western part of the tabernacle, you shall make six panels,
and make two frames for the corners at the back of the Dwel ing;23 and again another two, which will be raised at the corners, behind the back of the tabernacle.
these must be coupled together at the bottom, and right up to the top, to the level of the first ring; thisfor the two frames that must form the two corners.24 And these shall be joined together from bottom to top, and one joint shall retain them all. Likewise, two of the panels, which will be set at the corners, shall be served by similar joints.
Thus there wil be eight frames with their silver sockets: sixteen sockets; two sockets under oneframe and two sockets under the next frame.25 And together these will be eight panels, and their bases of silver, sixteen, counting two bases for each panel.
'You wil make crossbars of acacia wood: five for the frames of the first side of the Dwelling,26 You shall also make five bars of setim wood, to connect the panels on one side of the tabernacle,
five crossbars for the frames of the opposite side of the Dwel ing, and five crossbars for the frameswhich form the back of the Dwel ing, to the west.27 and five others on the other side, and the same number toward the western part.
The middle bar must join the frames from one end to the other, halfway up.28 These shall be set along the middle of the panels, from one end all the way to the other end.
You wil overlay the frames with gold, make gold rings for them, through which to place thecrossbars, and overlay the crossbars with gold.29 Likewise, the panels themselves you shall overlay with gold, and you shall establish rings of gold in them, by which the bars of the panels may be connected. These you shall cover with layers of gold.
This is how you must erect the Dwel ing, fol owing the design shown you on the mountain.30 And you shall raise the tabernacle according to the example which was shown to you on the mountain.
'You wil make a curtain of finely woven linen, dyed violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, andembroidered with great winged creatures,31 You shall also make a veil of hyacinth, and purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, and fine twisted linen, wrought with a diversity of continuous and beautiful embroidery.
and put it on four poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold, with golden hooks for them, set in foursockets of silver.32 And you shall suspend it before four columns of setim wood, which themselves certainly shall be overlaid with gold, and have heads of gold, but bases of silver.
You wil put the curtain below the clasps, so that inside behind the curtain, you can place the ark ofthe Testimony, and the curtain wil mark the division for you between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.33 Then the veil shall be inserted through the rings. Beyond the veil, you shall place the ark of the testimony, where both the Sanctuary and the Sanctuary of Sanctuaries shall be divided.
You wil put the mercy-seat on the ark of the Testimony in the Holy of Holies.34 And you shall place the propitiatory over the ark of the testimony, in the Holy of Holies.
You wil place the table outside the curtain, and the lamp-stand on the south side of the Dwel ing, opposite the table; you will put the table on the north side.35 And the table shall be outside the veil. And opposite the table shall be the lampstand, in the meridian of the tabernacle. For the table shall stand at the north side.
For the entrance to the tent you wil make a screen of finely woven linen embroidered with violet-purple, red-purple and crimson,36 You shall also make a tent at the entrance of the tabernacle from hyacinth, and purple, and twice-dyed scarlet, and fine twisted linen, wrought with embroidery.
and for the screen you wil make five poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold, with goldenhooks, and for them you wil cast five sockets of bronze.'37 And you shall overlay with gold five columns of setim wood, over which the tent shall be drawn. The heads of these shall be of gold, and the bases of brass.”
