Exodus 23

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 'You will not spread false rumours. You wil not lend support to the wicked by giving untrue evidence.	1 "Não levantarás um boato falso; não darás tua mão ao perverso para levantar um falso testemunho.
2 You will not be led into wrong-doing by the majority nor, when giving evidence in a lawsuit, side withthe majority to pervert the course of justice;	2 Não seguirás o mau exemplo da multidão. Não deporás num processo, metendo-te do lado da maioria de maneira a perverter a justiça.
3 nor wil you show partiality to the poor in a lawsuit.	3 Não favorecerás tampouco o pobre em seu processo.
4 'If you come on your enemy's ox or donkey straying, you wil take it back to him.	4 Se encontrares o boi de teu inimigo ou o seu jumento desgarrado, tu lho reconduzirás.
5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fal en under its load, do not stand back; you must goand help him with it.	5 Se vires o jumento de teu inimigo caindo sob a carga, guarda-te de passar adiante: ajuda-o a descarregar.
6 'You will not cheat the poor among you of their rights at law.	6 Não atentarás contra o direito do pobre em sua causa.
7 Keep clear of fraud. Do not cause the death of the innocent or upright, and do not acquit the guilty.	7 Abstém-te de toda palavra mentirosa. Não matarás o inocente e o justo, porque não absolverei o culpado.
8 You will accept no bribes, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and is the ruin of the cause of the upright.	8 Não aceitarás presentes, porque os presentes cegam aqueles que vêem claro, e perdem as causas justas.
9 'You will not oppress the alien; you know how an alien feels, for you yourselves were once aliens inEgypt.	9 Não oprimirás o estrangeiro, pois conheceis o que sente o estrangeiro, vós que o fostes no Egito.
10 'For six years you will sow your land and gather its produce,	10 "Durante seis anos, semearás a terra e recolherás o produto.
11 but in the seventh year you will let it lie fal ow and forgo al produce from it, so that those of yourpeople who are poor can take food from it and the wild animals eat what they have left. You wil do the samewith your vineyard and your olive grove.	11 Mas, no sétimo ano, a deixarás repousar em alqueive; os pobres de teu povo comerão o seu produto, e os animais selvagens comerão o resto. Farás o mesmo com a tua vinha e o teu olival.
12 'For six days you wil do your work, and on the seventh you will rest, so that your ox and your donkeymay rest and the child of your slave-girl have a breathing space, and the alien too.	12 Durante seis dias, farás o teu trabalho, mas no sétimo descansarás, para que descansem o teu boi e o teu jumento, e respirem o filho de tua escrava e o estrangeiro.
13 'Take notice of everything I have told you and do not mention the name of any other god: let noneever be heard from your lips.	13 Observareis tudo o que vos disse: não pronunciareis o nome de outros deuses, e não se o ouvirá sair de vossa boca.
14 'Three times a year you wil hold a festival in my honour.	14 Três vezes por ano celebrarás uma festa em minha honra.
15 You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in that month you came out of Egypt. Noone will appear before me empty-handed.	15 Observarás a festa dos Ázimos: durante sete dias, no mês das espigas, como o fixei, comerás pães sem fermento {foi nesse mês que saíste do Egito}. Não se apresentará ninguém diante de mim com as mãos vazias.
16 You wil also observe the feast of Harvest, of the first-fruits of your labours in sowing the fields, andthe feast of Ingathering, at the end of the year, once you have brought the fruits of your labours in from the fields.	16 Depois haverá a festa da Ceifa, das primícias do teu trabalho, do que semeaste nos campos; e a festa da Colheita, no fim do ano, quando recolheres nos campos os frutos do teu trabalho.
17 Three times a year al your menfolk will appear before Lord Yahweh.	17 Três vezes por ano, todo indivíduo do sexo masculino se apresentará diante do Senhor Javé.
18 'You wil not offer the blood of my victim with leavened bread, nor wil the fat of my feast be kept tilthe following day.	18 Quando me sacrificares uma vítima, não oferecerás o seu sangue com pão fermentado; e a gordura de minha festa não será guardada a noite toda até a manhã do dia seguinte.
19 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.	19 Trarás à casa do Senhor, teu Deus, as primícias dos primeiros produtos de tua terra. Não cozerás um cabrito no leite de sua mãe."
20 'Look, I am sending an angel to precede you, to guard you as you go and bring you to the place that Ihave prepared.	20 "Vou enviar um anjo adiante de ti para te proteger no caminho e para te conduzir ao lugar que te preparei.
21 Revere him and obey what he says. Do not defy him: he wil not forgive any wrong-doing on yourpart, for my name is in him.	21 Está de sobreaviso em sua presença, e ouve o que ele te diz. Não lhe resistas, pois ele não te perdoaria tua falta, porque meu nome está nele.
22 If, however, you obey what he says and do whatever I order, I shal be an enemy to your enemiesand a foe to your foes.	22 Mas, se lhe obedeceres pontualmente, se fizeres tudo o que eu te disser, serei o inimigo dos teus inimigos, e o adversário dos teus adversários.
23 My angel wil precede you and lead you to the home of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, theCanaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, whom I shal exterminate.	23 Porque meu anjo marchará adiante de ti e te conduzirá entre os amorreus, os hiteus, os ferezeus, os cananeus, os heveus e os jebuseus, que exterminarei.
24 You wil not bow down to their gods or worship them or observe their rites, but throw them down andsmash their cultic stones.	24 Não adorarás os seus deuses, não lhes prestarás culto, imitando as práticas {desses povos}, mas derrubarás os seus deuses e farás em pedaços as suas estelas.
25 You wil worship Yahweh your God, and then I shal bless your food and water, and keep you free ofsickness.	25 Prestarás culto ao Senhor, teu Deus, que abençoará teu pão e tua água, e te preservarei da enfermidade.
26 In your country no woman will miscarry, none be sterile, and I shall give you your ful term of life.	26 Não haverá em tua terra nem mulher que aborta nem mulher estéril. Completarei o número dos teus dias.
27 'I shal send terror of myself ahead of you; I shal throw al the peoples you encounter into confusion,and make al your enemies take to their heels.	27 Enviarei diante de ti o meu terror, e semearei o pânico em todos os povos entre os quais chegares e porei todos os teus inimigos em fuga diante de ti.
28 I shal send hornets ahead of you to drive Hivite, Canaanite and Hittite out before you.	28 Mandarei vespas diante de ti que expulsarão para longe de tua face os heveus, os cananeus, os hiteus.
29 I shal not drive them out ahead of you in a single year, or the land might become a desert where wildanimals would multiply to your cost.	29 Não os expulsarei em um só ano, para que a terra não se torne um deserto e se multipliquem contra ti as feras do campo.
30 I shal drive them out little by little before you, until your numbers grow sufficient for you to takepossession of the land.	30 Expulsá-los-ei progressivamente diante de ti até que te tenhas multiplicado bastante para ocupar o país.
31 And your frontiers I shall fix from the Sea of Reeds to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desertto the River, for I shal put the inhabitants of the territory at your mercy, and you will drive them out before you.	31 Os limites que te fixei vão do mar Vermelho ao mar dos filisteus, e desde o deserto até o Eufrates. Porque entregarei em tuas mãos os habitantes dessa terra, e expulsá-los-ei de diante de ti.
32 You wil make no pact with them or with their gods.	32 Não farás aliança nem com eles nem com seus deuses.
33 They may not stay in your country or they might make you sin against me, for you would serve theirgods, and that would be a snare for you!'	33 Eles não residirão na tua terra, para que não te façam pecar contra mim, e para que, prestando um culto aos seus deuses, não sejas preso no laço."
