1 'You will not spread false rumours. You wil not lend support to the wicked by giving untrue evidence.	1 Tu ne feras pas circuler des paroles mensongères. Tu n’aideras pas le méchant en donnant un faux témoignage.
2 You will not be led into wrong-doing by the majority nor, when giving evidence in a lawsuit, side withthe majority to pervert the course of justice;	2 Tu ne suivras pas la majorité quand elle fait mal; ton témoignage ne s’écartera pas de la vérité pour dire comme tout le monde,
3 nor wil you show partiality to the poor in a lawsuit.	3 pas même pour aider un pauvre dans son procès.
4 'If you come on your enemy's ox or donkey straying, you wil take it back to him.	4 Si le bœuf ou l’âne de ton ennemi s’est égaré et que tu le rencontres, tu le lui ramèneras.
5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fal en under its load, do not stand back; you must goand help him with it.	5 Lorsque tu verras l’âne de celui qui te déteste écrasé par son fardeau, tu ne passeras pas sans t’arrêter, mais tu l’aideras.
6 'You will not cheat the poor among you of their rights at law.	6 Tu ne feras pas dévier le droit lorsque tes pauvres auront un procès.
7 Keep clear of fraud. Do not cause the death of the innocent or upright, and do not acquit the guilty.	7 Tu te garderas de toute parole mensongère. Tu ne feras pas mourir l’innocent, le juste, car moi, je fais la différence entre le juste et le coupable.
8 You will accept no bribes, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and is the ruin of the cause of the upright.	8 Tu n’accepteras pas de pot de vin, car l’argent aveugle ceux qui voyaient clair et fait du tort à la cause du juste.
9 'You will not oppress the alien; you know how an alien feels, for you yourselves were once aliens inEgypt.	9 Tu n’opprimeras pas l’étranger, car tu as l’expérience de ce que ressent l’étranger: vous étiez des étrangers en Égypte.
10 'For six years you will sow your land and gather its produce,	10 Durant six années tu ensemenceras ta terre et tu en récolteras les produits;
11 but in the seventh year you will let it lie fal ow and forgo al produce from it, so that those of yourpeople who are poor can take food from it and the wild animals eat what they have left. You wil do the samewith your vineyard and your olive grove.	11 mais la septième année, tu ne la cultiveras pas et tu la laisseras se reposer. Les pauvres de ton peuple y trouveront de quoi manger, et les bêtes des champs en mangeront les restes. Tu feras de même pour ta vigne et pour ton olivier.
12 'For six days you wil do your work, and on the seventh you will rest, so that your ox and your donkeymay rest and the child of your slave-girl have a breathing space, and the alien too.	12 Durant six jours tu travailleras, mais le septième jour tu te reposeras. Ton bœuf et ton âne se reposeront et le fils de ta servante, comme l’étranger, pourront souffler.
13 'Take notice of everything I have told you and do not mention the name of any other god: let noneever be heard from your lips.	13 Vous observerez tout ce que je vous ai dit. Vous ne prononcerez pas le nom des autres dieux, on ne les entendra jamais de votre bouche.
14 'Three times a year you wil hold a festival in my honour.	14 Trois fois par an tu feras le pèlerinage en mon honneur:
15 You wil observe the feast of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, as Ihave commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in that month you came out of Egypt. Noone will appear before me empty-handed.	15 Tu observeras la fête des pains sans levain. Pendant sept jours tu mangeras des pains sans levain, à la date fixée du mois d’Abib, comme je te l’ai ordonné, car c’est en ce mois que tu es sorti d’Égypte. On ne se présentera pas devant moi les mains vides.
16 You wil also observe the feast of Harvest, of the first-fruits of your labours in sowing the fields, andthe feast of Ingathering, at the end of the year, once you have brought the fruits of your labours in from the fields.	16 Puis viendra la fête de la moisson, la fête des premiers produits de ton travail, de tout ce que tu as semé dans les champs. Enfin viendra la fête de la récolte au terme de l’année, lorsque tu récolteras les derniers fruits de ton travail dans les champs.
17 Three times a year al your menfolk will appear before Lord Yahweh.	17 Ainsi, trois fois par an, tous les mâles de ton peuple se présenteront devant le Seigneur Yahvé.
18 'You wil not offer the blood of my victim with leavened bread, nor wil the fat of my feast be kept tilthe following day.	18 Tu n’offriras pas le sang du sacrifice avec du pain levé, et tu ne garderas pas la graisse du sacrifice jusqu’au matin.
19 'You wil bring the best of the first-fruits of your soil to the house of Yahweh your God. 'You wil notboil a kid in its mother's milk.	19 Tu amèneras à la maison de Yahvé, ton Dieu, les premiers produits de tes champs. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.
20 'Look, I am sending an angel to precede you, to guard you as you go and bring you to the place that Ihave prepared.	20 Maintenant j’envoie un ange devant toi pour te protéger sur la route et pour te faire entrer dans le lieu que j’ai préparé.
21 Revere him and obey what he says. Do not defy him: he wil not forgive any wrong-doing on yourpart, for my name is in him.	21 Marche droit devant lui, écoute sa voix, ne te révolte pas contre lui. Sache qu’il ne pardonnera pas ton péché et que mon Nom est en lui.
22 If, however, you obey what he says and do whatever I order, I shal be an enemy to your enemiesand a foe to your foes.	22 Mais si tu écoutes sa voix, si tu fais tout ce que je te dirai, je serai l’ennemi de tes ennemis et l’adversaire de tes adversaires.
23 My angel wil precede you and lead you to the home of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, theCanaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, whom I shal exterminate.	23 Mon ange ira devant toi, il te fera entrer au pays des Amorites, des Hittites, des Périsites, des Cananéens, des Hivvites et des Jébusites, et moi, je les exterminerai.
24 You wil not bow down to their gods or worship them or observe their rites, but throw them down andsmash their cultic stones.	24 Tu ne te prosterneras pas devant leurs dieux, tu ne les serviras pas, tu ne feras pas comme on fait chez eux; mais au contraire tu détruiras leurs dieux et tu briseras leurs pierres sacrées.
25 You wil worship Yahweh your God, and then I shal bless your food and water, and keep you free ofsickness.	25 Vous servirez Yahvé votre Dieu: alors je bénirai ton pain et ton eau et j’écarterai de chez toi toute maladie.
26 In your country no woman will miscarry, none be sterile, and I shall give you your ful term of life.	26 On ne verra dans ton pays ni femme qui avorte ni femme stérile, mais je vous comblerai de jours.
27 'I shal send terror of myself ahead of you; I shal throw al the peoples you encounter into confusion,and make al your enemies take to their heels.	27 Alors j’enverrai devant toi ma Crainte, et j’enverrai la Déroute à tous les peuples chez qui tu entreras: je ferai fuir devant toi tous tes ennemis.
28 I shal send hornets ahead of you to drive Hivite, Canaanite and Hittite out before you.	28 J’enverrai les frelons pour qu’ils chassent devant toi les Hivvites, les Cananéens et les Hittites.
29 I shal not drive them out ahead of you in a single year, or the land might become a desert where wildanimals would multiply to your cost.	29 Cependant, je ne les chasserai pas en une seule année, sinon le pays resterait en friche et les animaux sauvages se multiplieraient pour ton malheur.
30 I shal drive them out little by little before you, until your numbers grow sufficient for you to takepossession of the land.	30 Je ne les chasserai donc que peu à peu, le temps que tu sois suffisamment fort pour occuper tout le pays.
31 And your frontiers I shall fix from the Sea of Reeds to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desertto the River, for I shal put the inhabitants of the territory at your mercy, and you will drive them out before you.	31 Je fixerai ta frontière depuis la Mer des Roseaux jusqu’à la Mer des Philistins, et depuis le désert jusqu’au fleuve. Je livrerai entre tes mains les habitants du pays et je les chasserai devant toi.
32 You wil make no pact with them or with their gods.	32 Tu ne feras pas d’alliance avec eux ni avec leurs dieux;
33 They may not stay in your country or they might make you sin against me, for you would serve theirgods, and that would be a snare for you!'	33 il ne faut pas qu’ils restent dans ton pays, car ils t’amèneraient à servir leurs dieux et à pécher contre moi; ils seraient pour toi un piège.”
