2 Chronicles 24

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Joash was seven years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem.His mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.	1 Ioas aveva sette anni quando divenne re e regnò quarant'anni in Gerusalemme. Il nome di sua madre era Sibia, di Bersabea.
2 Joash did what Yahweh regards as right throughout the lifetime of Jehoiada the priest.	2 Ioas fece ciò che è giusto agli occhi del Signore, finché visse il sacerdote Ioiadà.
3 Jehoiada found him two wives and he fathered several sons and daughters.	3 Ioiadà gli procurò due mogli ed egli generò figli e figlie.
4 Later, Joash made up his mind to repair the Temple of Yahweh.	4 In seguito Ioas ebbe in animo di restaurare il tempio del Signore.
5 Calling the priests and the Levites together, he said, 'Go out to the towns of Judah and collect moneyfrom al Israel for annual repairs to the Temple of Yahweh. Do this quickly.' But the Levites were in no hurry,	5 Radunò i sacerdoti e i leviti e disse loro: "Andate nelle città di Giuda e raccogliete anno per anno da tutti gli Israeliti del denaro per riparare il tempio del vostro Dio. Cercate di affrettarvi in quest'opera". Ma i leviti non si diedero premura di ciò.
6 so the king summoned Jehoiada the chief priest and said, 'Why have you not insisted on the Levites'bringing in the tax from Judah and Jerusalem for the Tent of Witness, as imposed by Moses servant of Yahwehand the community of Israel?' --	6 Allora il re convocò Ioiadà, loro capo, e gli disse: "Perché non hai richiesto dai leviti che portassero da Giuda e da Gerusalemme la tassa imposta da Mosè, servo del Signore, e fissata dall'assemblea d'Israele per la tenda della testimonianza?
7 Athaliah and her sons, whom she corrupted, despoiled the Temple of God and even assigned al thesacred revenues of the Temple of Yahweh to Baal.	7 Infatti l'empia Atalia e i suoi figli hanno dilapidato il tempio di Dio e persino tutte le cose sante del tempio del Signore le hanno usate per i Baal".
8 So, at the king's order, a chest was made and put outside the gate of the Temple of Yahweh,	8 Per ordine del re si fece una cassa, che fu posta fuori della porta del tempio del Signore.
9 and a proclamation was issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem that the tax, which Moses servant ofGod had imposed on Israel in the desert, was to be brought to Yahweh.	9 Indi fu emesso un bando in Giuda e in Gerusalemme, perché si portasse al Signore la tassa imposta da Mosè, servo di Dio, su Israele nel deserto.
10 Then al the officials and all the people gladly brought in their contributions, depositing them in thechest until the payment was complete.	10 Tutti i capi e tutto il popolo se ne rallegrarono e portarono il denaro gettandolo nella cassa fino a riempirla.
11 Whenever the chest was brought by the Levites for royal inspection and found to contain a large sumof money, the king's secretary and the chief priest's representative would come and empty the chest and thenhave it returned to its place. This was done day after day and a great deal of money was col ected.	11 Quando la cassa veniva portata all'amministrazione reale affidata ai leviti, e ci si accorgeva che c'era molto denaro, lo scriba del re e l'ispettore del sommo sacerdote venivano a vuotare la cassa; poi la prendevano e la ricollocavano al suo posto. Facevano così tutti i giorni, raccogliendo denaro in abbondanza.
12 The king and Jehoiada handed it over to the foreman attached to the Temple of Yahweh, and thehired masons and carpenters set about repairing the Temple of Yahweh; and iron-workers and bronze-workerslaboured to repair the Temple of Yahweh.	12 Il re e Ioiadà lo diedero ai dirigenti dei lavori del tempio del Signore. Essi pagavano gli scalpellini e i falegnami per restaurare il tempio del Signore, come anche i lavoratori del ferro e del bronzo per riparare il tempio del Signore.
13 The workmen got on with the task -- the repair work made good progress at their hands -- until theyhad restored the Temple of God to its former state and reconditioned it.	13 I dirigenti dei lavori si misero all'opera; per mezzo loro le riparazioni progredirono: il tempio di Dio fu riportato al suo stato normale e fu consolidato.
14 When they had finished, they brought the balance of the money to the king and Jehoiada, and withthis vessels were made for the Temple of Yahweh, vessels for the liturgy and for the burnt offerings, bowls andother gold and silver vessels. And the perpetual burnt offering was offered in the Temple of Yahweh throughoutJehoiada's lifetime.	14 Compiuto il lavoro, portarono davanti al re e a Ioiadà il denaro rimasto; con esso fecero degli utensili per il tempio del Signore: vasi per il servizio e per gli olocausti, coppe ed altri oggetti d'oro e d'argento. Finché visse Ioiadà si offrirono continuamente olocausti nel tempio del Signore.
15 But Jehoiada, growing old, had his fil of days and died. He died at the age of a hundred and thirtyyears,	15 Ioiadà, invecchiatosi, morì sazio di giorni. Aveva centotrent'anni quando morì.
16 and was buried with the kings in the City of David because he had served Israel and God and hisTemple well.	16 Fu seppellito nella Città di Davide insieme ai re, perché aveva agito bene in Israele, riguardo a Dio e al suo tempio.
17 After Jehoiada's death the officials of Judah came to pay court to the king, and the king listened totheir advice,	17 Dopo la morte di Ioiadà i capi di Giuda andarono a riverire il re, che diede loro ascolto.
18 and they abandoned the Temple of Yahweh, God of their ancestors, for the worship of sacred polesand idols. Judah and Jerusalem incurred wrath because of this guilt of theirs.	18 Questi abbandonarono il tempio del Signore, Dio dei loro padri, per venerare i pali sacri e gl'idoli. A causa di questa loro colpa l'ira di Dio si riversò su Giuda e Gerusalemme.
19 He sent their prophets to lead them back to Yahweh; these put the case against them, but theywould not listen.	19 Il Signore inviò loro profeti per farli ritornare a lui. Questi testimoniavano contro di essi, ma non furono ascoltati.
20 The spirit of God then invested Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood up before the peopleand said, 'God says this, "Why transgress Yahweh's commands to your certain ruin? For if you abandonYahweh, he will abandon you."	20 Allora lo spirito di Dio investì Zaccaria, figlio del sacerdote Ioiadà, che si presentò davanti al popolo e disse loro: "Dice Dio: Perché trasgredite i precetti del Signore e non avete successo? Poiché avete abbandonato il Signore, anch'egli vi abbandona".
21 They then plotted against him and, at the king's order, stoned him in the court of the Temple ofYahweh.	21 Ma quelli congiurarono contro di lui e lo lapidarono per ordine del re nell'atrio del tempio del Signore.
22 Thus King Joash, forgetful of the devotion which Jehoiada father of Zechariah had displayed on hisbehalf, murdered his son, who cried out as he died, 'Yahweh wil see this and avenge it!'	22 Il re Ioas non si ricordò del favore che gli aveva fatto Ioiadà, padre di Zaccaria: ne uccise il figlio, che morendo disse: "Dio veda e ne chieda conto".
23 At the turn of the year, the Aramaean army made war on Joash. When they reached Judah andJerusalem, they massacred al the nation's government officials and sent al their booty to the king of Damascus.	23 Or avvenne che all'inizio dell'anno seguente l'esercito degli Aramei marciò contro Ioas. Giunti in Giuda e Gerusalemme, sterminarono tra il popolo tutti i suoi capi e ne inviarono l'intero bottino al re di Damasco.
24 Although the invading Aramaean army was only a smal body of men, Yahweh al owed them todefeat a very large army because they had abandoned Yahweh, God of their ancestors; thus they executedjudgement on Joash. After they had retired -- for they left him seriously wounded-	24 Sebbene l'esercito degli Aramei fosse venuto con pochi uomini, il Signore consegnò nelle loro mani un esercito molto numeroso, perché avevano abbandonato il Signore, Dio dei loro padri. Così essi fecero giustizia di Ioas.
25 his own retainers plotted against him to avenge the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest andmurdered him in his bed. When he died he was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.	25 Partitisi da lui lasciandolo gravemente ammalato, i suoi servi congiurarono contro di lui a causa dell'uccisione del figlio del sacerdote Ioiadà e lo uccisero sul suo letto. 26 These were the conspirators: Zabad son of Shimeath the Ammonite and Jehozabad son of Shimriththe Moabite.	26 Questi sono i congiurati contro di lui: Zabàd, figlio di Simeat, ammonita, e Iozabàd, figlio di Simrit, moabita.
27 As regards his sons, the heavy tribute imposed on him, and the restoration of the Temple of God,this is recorded in the Commentary on the Book of the Kings. His son Amaziah succeeded him.	27 Quanto ai suoi figli, all'abbondanza dei tributi da lui raccolti e al restauro del tempio del Signore, ecco, ciò sta scritto nelle memorie del libro dei re.
