NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign, Baasha king of Israel marched on Judah and fortified Ramah toblock the communications of Asa king of Judah.	1 L’ANNO trentesimosesto del regno di Asa, Baasa, re d’Israele, salì contro a Giuda, ed edificò Rama, per non lasciar nè uscire nè entrare alcuno ad Asa, re di Giuda.
2 Asa then took silver and gold from the treasuries of the Temple of Yahweh and the royal palace andsent this with the fol owing message to Ben-Hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus,	2 Laonde Asa trasse fuori argento, ed oro, da’ tesori dalla Casa del Signore, e della casa reale, e lo mandò a Benhadad, re di Siria, il quale abitava in Damasco, dicendo:
3 'Let us make an alliance between me and you, between my father and your father! Look, I have sentyou silver and gold. Come, break off your al iance with Baasha king of Israel, which wil make him withdraw fromme.'	3 Siavi lega fra me e te come è stata fra tuo padre e mio padre; ecco, io ti mando oro ed argento; va’, rompi la lega che tu hai con Baasa, re d’Israele, acciocchè egli si ritragga da me.
4 Ben-Hadad listened favourably to King Asa and sent the generals of his armies to attack the towns ofIsrael; he ravaged Ijon, Dan, Abel-Maim and al the storage towns of Naphtali.	4 E Benhadad acconsentì al re Asa, e mandò i capitani de’ suoi eserciti contro alle città d’Israele; ed essi percossero Ion, e Dan, ed Abel-maim, e tutte le città da magazzini di Neftali.
5 When Baasha heard this he gave up fortifying Ramah, abandoning this work.	5 E quando Baasa ebbe ciò inteso, restò d’edificar Rama, e fece cessare il suo lavoro.
6 King Asa then had al Judah carry away the stones and timber with which Baasha had been fortifyingRamah, and used them to fortify Geba and Mizpah.	6 Allora il re Asa prese tutto il popolo di Giuda; ed essi portarono via le pietre e il legname di Rama, la quale Baasa edificava; ed egli ne edificò Ghibea e Mispa
7 Then it was that Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said, 'Because you relied on the kingof Aram and not on Yahweh your God, the king of Aram's army wil slip through your fingers.	7 Ed in quel tempo il veggente Hanani venne ad Asa, re di Giuda, e gli disse: Perciocchè tu ti sei appoggiato sopra il re di Siria, e non ti sei appoggiato sopra il Signore Iddio tuo, per ciò l’esercito del re di Siria ti è scampato dalle mani.
8 Did not the Cushites and Libyans form a vast army with great numbers of chariots and cavalry? Evenso, because you relied on Yahweh, he gave you the upper hand;	8 Gli Etiopi ed i Libii non erano essi un grande esercito, con grandissimo numero di carri e di cavalieri? e pure, perchè tu ti appoggiasti sopra il Signore, egli te li diede nelle mani.
9 for Yahweh's eyes rove to and fro across the whole world to support those whose hearts are loyal tohim. You have acted like a fool in this respect; hence, from now on you wil have wars.'	9 Conciossiachè gli occhi del Signore corrano per tutta la terra, per mostrarsi potente in favor di coloro che hanno il cuore intiero inverso lui; tu hai follemente fatto in questa cosa; perciocchè da ora innanzi tu avrai sempre guerre.
10 Enraged with the seer, Asa had him put in the stocks in prison, being angry with him over this; at thesame time Asa ill-treated some of the people too.	10 Ed Asa s’indegnò contro al veggente, e lo fece incarcerare; perciocchè era in gran cruccio contro a lui per ciò. Asa ancora oppressò in quel tempo alcuni del popolo.
11 The history of Asa, from first to last, is recorded in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.	11 Or ecco, i fatti di Asa, primi ed ultimi, sono scritti nel libro dei re di Giuda e d’Israele.
12 In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa contracted a disease in his feet, which became very severe;in his il ness, however, he consulted not Yahweh but the doctors.	12 Ed Asa, l’anno trentanovesimo del suo regno, infermò de’ piedi, e la sua infermità fu strema, e pure ancora nella sua infermità egli non ricercò il Signore, anzi i medici.
13 Asa then fel asleep with his ancestors, dying in the forty-first year of his reign.	13 Ed Asa giacque co’ suoi padri, e morì l’anno quarantunesimo del suo regno;
14 He was buried in the tomb which he had ordered to be cut for him in the City of David. He was laid inthe burial chamber which was fil ed with perfume blended from all sorts of oils, and a very great funeral fire wasmade for him.	14 e fu seppellito nella sua sepoltura, la quale egli si avea cavata nella Città di Davide; e fu posto in un cataletto che egli avea empiuto d’aromati, e d’odori composti per arte di profumiere; e gliene fu arsa una grandissima quantità
