2 Chronicles 15

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The spirit of God then came on Azariah son of Oded;	1 Azarías, hijo de Oded, sobre el que había descendido el espíritu de Dios,
2 he went out to meet Asa and said, 'Listen to me, Asa, and all you in Judah and in Benjamin: Yahwehwil be with you so long as you are with him. If you seek him, he will let you find him; but if you desert him, he wildesert you.	2 salió al encuentro de Asá y le dijo: «¡Escúchenme, Asá y todo Judá y Benjamín! El Señor está con ustedes cuando ustedes están con él. Si lo buscan, él se dejará encontrar por ustedes; si lo abandonan, él los abandonará.
3 For a long time Israel did not have the true God or a teacher-priest or a law,	3 Durante mucho tiempo Israel estuvo sin verdadero Dios, sin sacerdote que lo instruyera y sin ley.
4 but when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, God of Israel, and sought him, he let them find him.	4 Pero en su angustia, ellos se volvieron hacia el Señor, el Dios de Israel; lo buscaron, y el Señor se dejó encontrar por ellos.
5 In those times there was no security for people as they went about their business, but great unrestaffecting the inhabitants of all countries,	5 En aquellos tiempos no había paz para nadie, sino grandes tribulaciones sobre todos los habitantes del país.
6 nation being crushed by nation and city by city, since God caused confusion among them by everykind of distress.	6 La gente y las ciudades se destruían unas contra otras, porque Dios las perturbaba con toda clase de calamidades.
7 So be strong, do not be discouraged, for your deeds wil be rewarded.'	7 Pero ustedes, ¡manténganse firmes y no desfallezcan! Porque sus obras serán recompensadas».
8 When Asa heard these words and the prophecy, he took courage and removed the abominable idolsthroughout the land of Judah and Benjamin as wel as from the towns which he had captured in the highlands ofEphraim, and repaired the altar of Yahweh which stood in front of the portico of Yahweh.	8 Al oír estas palabras y la profecía que había pronunciado Azarías, hijo de Oded, Asá se decidió a eliminar los ídolos abominables de todo el territorio de Judá y Benjamín, y también de las ciudades que había conquistado en la montaña de Efraím. Además, restauró el altar del Señor que estaba delante del Vestíbulo del Templo.
9 He summoned al Judah and Benjamin as wel as those Ephraimites, Manassehites and Simeoniteswho had settled with them -- for a great many people from Israel had gone over to Asa when they saw thatYahweh his God was with him.	9 Luego reunió a todo Judá y Benjamín, y a los hombres de Efraím, de Manasés y de Simeón que residían con ellos, porque mucha gente de Israel se había pasado de Asá, al ver que el Señor, su Dios, estaba con él.
10 They assembled in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa's reign,	10 Ellos se reunieron en Jerusalén el tercer mes del año quince del reinado de Asá.
11 that day sacrificing to Yahweh seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from the booty whichthey had brought back.	11 Aquel día sacrificaron al Señor setecientos bueyes y siete mil ovejas del botín que habían traído,
12 They then made a covenant to seek Yahweh, God of their ancestors, with al their heart and soul;	12 e hicieron un pacto, comprometiéndose a buscar al Señor, el Dios de sus padres, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma:
13 anyone who would not seek Yahweh, God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether high or low, manor woman.	13 a todo el que no buscara al Señor, el Dios de Israel, se lo había morir, fuera grande o pequeño, hombre o mujer.
14 They pledged their oath to Yahweh in ringing tones, with shouts of joy, to the sound of trumpet andhorn;	14 Así lo juraron al Señor en alta voz. con gritos de júbilo y al son de trompetas y cuernos.
15 al Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it wholeheartedly, and sought him so earnestlythat he al owed them to find him; Yahweh gave them peace all round.	15 Todo Judá se alegró a causa del juramento, porque lo había prestado de todo corazón y había buscado sinceramente al Señor. Por eso el Señor se dejó encontrar por ellos y les dio paz por todas partes.
16 King Asa even deprived his mother Maacah of the dignity of Great Lady for having made anobscenity for Asherah; Asa cut down her obscenity, smashed it and burnt it in the ravine of the Kidron.	16 El rey Asá despojó incluso del rango de Reina Madre a su abuela Maacá, por haber dedicado un horrendo fetiche a la diosa Aserá. Asá eliminó ese fetiche, lo redujo a polvo y lo quemó en el torrente Cedrón.
17 Though the high places were not abolished in Israel, Asa's heart was loyal throughout his life.	17 Sin embargo, no desaparecieron de Israel los lugares altos, aunque el corazón de Asá perteneció íntegramente al Señor durante toda su vida.
18 He deposited his father's and his own dedicated gifts of silver, gold and sacred vessels, in theTemple of Yahweh.	18 El hizo llevar a la Casa del Señor las ofrendas consagradas por su padre y las que él mismo había consagrado: plata, oro y otros utensilios.
19 Up to the thirty-fifth year of Asa's reign there was no war.	19 Y no hubo guerra hasta el año treinta y cinco del reinado de Asá.
