1 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar kingof Babylon advanced on Jerusalem with his entire army; he pitched camp in front of the city and threw upearthworks round it.	1 E l'anno nono del suo regno, il decimo mese, ai dieci del mese, venne Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia con tutto il suo esercito sotto Gerusalemme, e la cinsero da tutte le parti, e alzarono terra all'intorno.

3 In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, when famine was raging in the city and there wasno food for the populace,	3 E sino ai nove del mese: e la fame andava crescendo nella città, e la plebe mancava di pane.
4 a breach was made in the city wal . The king then made his escape under cover of dark, with all thefighting men, by way of the gate between the two wal s, which is near the king's garden -- the Chaldaeans hadsurrounded the city -- and made his way towards the Arabah.	4 E fu fatta breccia alla città, e tutta la gente da guerra fuggirono di notte tempo per la strada della porta, che è tralle due muraglie presso al giardino reale, mentre i Caldei stringevano da tutte parti la città. 5 The Chaldaean troops pursued the king and caught up with him in the Plains of Jericho, where al histroops deserted.	5 Ma l'esercito de' Caldei inseguì il re, e lo fecer prigioniero nel piano di Gericho; e tutti i soldati, che eran con lui, si dispersero; e lo abbandonarono.
6 The Chaldaeans captured the king and took him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, who passed sentenceon him.	6 E quelli, preso il re, lo condussero dinanzi al re di Babilonia a Reblatha, dove questi pronunziò sentenza contro di lui.
7 He had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes, then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading himwith chains, carried him off to Babylon.	7 E uccise alla presenza di Sedecia i suoi figliuoli, e a lui fece cavare gli occhi, e lo mise alla catena, e menollo in Babilonia.
8 In the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month -- it was in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon -- Nebuzaradan commander of the guard, a member of the king of Babylon's staff, enteredJerusalem.	8 Il mese quinto, ai sette del mese, l'anno diciannovesimo del re di Babilonia, Nabuzardan capitano dell'esercito, e servo del re di Babilonia entrò in Gerusalemme.
9 He burned down the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and al the houses in Jerusalem.	9 E mise il fuoco alla casa del Signore, e alla casa reale, e alle case di Gerusalemme; e tutte le fabbriche consumò colle fiamme.
10 The Chaldaean troops who accompanied the commander of the guard demolished the wal ssurrounding Jerusalem.	10 E tutto l'esercito de' Caldei, che era col capitano, atterrò da tutte parti le mura di Gerusalemme.
11 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported the remainder of the population left in the city, thedeserters who had gone over to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the common people.	11 E gli avanzi del popolo, che eran rimasi nella città, e quelli, che si erano rifugiati presso al re di Babilonia, e tutta la ciurmaglia, li menò via Nabuzardan capitano dell'esercito.
12 But the commander of the guard left some of the poor country people behind as vineyard workers andploughmen.	12 E lasciovvi solamente de' miserabili per coltivar le vigne, e i campi.
13 The Chaldaeans broke up the bronze pil ars from the Temple of Yahweh, the wheeled stands and thebronze Sea, which were in the Temple of Yahweh, and took the bronze away to Babylon.	13 E le colonne di bronzo, che erano nel tempio del Signore, e le basi, e il mare di bronzo, che era nella casa del Signore, tutte queste cose i Caldei le misero in pezzi, e ne trasportarono tutto il bronzo in Babilonia.
14 They also took the ash containers, the scoops, the knives, the incense boats, and al the bronzefurnishings used in worship.	14 E portaron via anche le caldaie di bronzo, e le coppe, e le forchette, e le giare, e i mortai, e tutti i vasi di bronzo, che servivano al ministero.
15 The commander of the guard also took the censers and the sprinkling bowls, everything made of goldand everything made of silver.	15 E similmente i turiboli, e le ampolle sia d'oro, sia d'argento, le portò via il capitano dell'esercito:
16 As regards the two pil ars, the one Sea and the wheeled stands, which Solomon of bronze in al theseobjects.	16 Insieme colle due colonne, e col mare di bronzo, e le basi fatte da Salomone pel tempio del Signore: il peso del bronzo di tutti i vasi era immenso.
17 The height of one pil ar was eighteen cubits, and on it stood a capital of bronze, the height of thecapital being five cubits; round the capital were filigree and pomegranates, al in bronze. So also for the secondpil ar.	17 Una delle colonne avea diciotto cubiti di altezza, e al di sopra un capitello di bronzo alto tre cubiti: e attorno al capitello della colonna la rete, e i meligranati, ogni cosa di bronzo. Simili erano gli ornati dell'altra colonna.
18 The commander of the guard took prisoner Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest next in rank,and the three guardians of the threshold.	18 E il capitano dell'esercito menò via anche Saraia primo Sacerdote, e Sophonia secondo sacerdote, e i tre portinai.
19 In the city he took prisoner an official who was in command of the fighting men, five of the king'spersonal friends who were discovered in the city, the secretary to the army commander, responsible for militaryconscription, and sixty men of distinction discovered in the city.	19 E un eunuco della città, che aveva ispezione sopra le genti da guerra: e cinque di quei, che erano stati del servizio domestico del re, e furon trovati nella città: e Sopher principe dell'esercito, il quale facea nel paese la scelta dei nuovi soldati: e sessanta uomini primari del popolo, che furon trovati nella città.
20 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard took these men and brought them to the king of Babylon atRiblah,	20 Nabuzardan capitano dell'esercito prese costoro, e li condusse dinanzi al re di Babilonia a Reblatha:
21 and at Riblah in the territory of Hamath the king of Babylon had them put to death. Thus Judah wasdeported from its country.	21 E il re di Babilonia li fece uccidere in Reblatha, che è nel paese di Emath. E Giuda fu trasportato dal suo paese.
22 For the people remaining in the country of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had leftbehind, he appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan as governor.	22 E al governo del popolo, che restava nel paese di Giuda, lasciatovi da Nabuchodonosor re di Babilonia, pose Godolia figliuolo di Ahicam figliuolo di Saphan.
23 When the military leaders and their men all heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah asgovernor, they went to him at Mizpah: Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son ofTanhumeth the Netophathite, Jaazaniah the Maacathite, they and their men.	23 La qual cosa essendo giunta alle orecchie dei capi de' soldati, e di quelli, che eran con essi, viene a dire, come il re di Babilonia, avea dato il governo a Godolia, andarono a trovar Godolia a Maspha, Ismael figliuolo di Nathania, e Johanan figliuolo di Caree, e Saraia figliuolo di Thanehumeth Netophathite, e Jezonia figliuolo di Maachati co' loro compagni.
24 To them and to their men Gedaliah swore an oath. 'Do not be afraid of the Chaldaeans,' he said, 'stayin the country, serve the king of Babylon, and al wil go wel with you.'	24 E Godolia giurò ad essi, e a' loro compagni, e disse: Non temete di ubbidire ai re Caldei: restate nel paese, e servite al re di Babilonia, e sarete felici.
25 But in the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, who was of royal descent, andten men with him, came and murdered Gedaliah, as wel as the Judaeans and Chaldaeans who were with him atMizpah.	25 Ma il settimo mese andò Ismael figliuolo di Nathania, figliuolo d'Elisa ma di stirpe reale, accompagnato da dieci uomini: d'assalirono Godolia, il quale fu messo a morte, e con lui i Giudei, e i Caldei, che eran con esso a Maspha.
26 Then all the people, high and low, with the military leaders, set off and went to Egypt, being afraid ofthe Chaldaeans.	26 E tutto il popolo, piccoli, e grandi, e i capi de' soldati avendo paura de' Caldei, fuggirono nell' Egitto.
27 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year he came to the throne, pardonedJehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.	27 Ma l'anno trentesimo settimo della trasmigrazione di Joachin re di Giuda, il duodecimo mese, ai ventisette del mese, Evilmerodach re di Babilonia, lo stesso anno, in cui cominciò a regnare, sollevò, e trasse Joachin re di Giuda dalla prigione.
28 He treated him with kindness and al otted him a seat above those of the other kings who were withhim in Babylon.	28 E parlò a fui benignamente: e gli alzò un trono più elevato, che quelli degli altri re, che erano con lui in Babilonia.
29 So Jehoiachin laid aside his prisoner's garb, and for the rest of his life always ate at the king's table.	29 E gli fece cangiar le vesti, che avea portate nella prigione, ed ei mangiava sempre con lui per tutto il tempo, ch'ei visse:
30 And his upkeep was permanently ensured by the king, day after day, for the rest of his life.	30 E gli assegnò eziandio in perpetuo il suo mantenimento, che era a lui dato dal re giorno per giorno, fintanto che visse.
