2 Kings 25

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar kingof Babylon advanced on Jerusalem with his entire army; he pitched camp in front of the city and threw upearthworks round it.	1 El noveno año del reinado de Sedecías, el día diez del décimo mes, Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, llegó con todo su ejército contra Jerusalén; acampó frente a la ciudad y la cercaron con una empalizada.
2 The city lay under siege til the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.	2 La ciudad estuvo bajo el asedio hasta el año undécimo del rey Sedecías.
3 In the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, when famine was raging in the city and there wasno food for the populace,	3 En el cuarto mes, el día nueve del mes, mientras apretaba el hambre en la ciudad y no había más pan para la gente del país,
4 a breach was made in the city wal . The king then made his escape under cover of dark, with all thefighting men, by way of the gate between the two wal s, which is near the king's garden -- the Chaldaeans hadsurrounded the city -- and made his way towards the Arabah.	4 se abrió una brecha en la ciudad. Entonces huyeron todos los hombres de guerra, saliendo de la ciudad durante la noche, por el camino de la Puerta entre las dos murallas, que está cerca del jardín del rey; y mientras los caldeos rodeaban la ciudad, ellos tomaron por el camino de la Arabá.
5 The Chaldaean troops pursued the king and caught up with him in the Plains of Jericho, where al histroops deserted.	5 Las tropas de los caldeos persiguieron al rey, y lo alcanzaron en las estepas de Jericó, donde se desbandó todo su ejército.
6 The Chaldaeans captured the king and took him to the king of Babylon at Riblah, who passed sentenceon him.	6 Los caldeos capturaron al rey y lo hicieron subir hasta Riblá, ante el rey de Babilonia, y este dictó sentencia contra él.
7 He had Zedekiah's sons slaughtered before his eyes, then put out Zedekiah's eyes and, loading himwith chains, carried him off to Babylon.	7 Los hijos de Sedecías fueron degollados ante sus propios ojos. A Sedecías le sacó los ojos, lo ató con una doble cadena de bronce y lo llevó a Babilonia.
8 In the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month -- it was in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzarking of Babylon -- Nebuzaradan commander of the guard, a member of the king of Babylon's staff, enteredJerusalem.	8 El día siete del quinto mes –era el decimonoveno año de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia– Nebuzaradán, comandante de la guardia, que prestaba servicio ante el rey de Babilonia, entró en Jerusalén.
9 He burned down the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace and al the houses in Jerusalem.	9 Incendió la Casa del Señor, la casa del rey y todas las casas de Jerusalén, y prendió fuego a todas las casas de los nobles.
10 The Chaldaean troops who accompanied the commander of the guard demolished the wal ssurrounding Jerusalem.	10 Después, el ejército de los caldeos que estaba con el comandante de la guardia derribo las murallas que rodeaban a Jerusalén.
11 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard deported the remainder of the population left in the city, thedeserters who had gone over to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the common people.	11 Nebuzaradán, el comandante de la guardia, deportó a toda la población que había quedado en la ciudad, a los desertores que se habían pasado al rey de Babilonia y al resto de los artesanos.
12 But the commander of the guard left some of the poor country people behind as vineyard workers andploughmen.	12 Pero dejó una parte de la gente pobre del país como viñadores y cultivadores.
13 The Chaldaeans broke up the bronze pil ars from the Temple of Yahweh, the wheeled stands and thebronze Sea, which were in the Temple of Yahweh, and took the bronze away to Babylon.	13 Además, los caldeos hicieron pedazos las columnas de bronce de la Casa del Señor, las bases y el Mar de bronce que estaban en la Casa del Señor, y se llevaron el bronce a Babilonia.
14 They also took the ash containers, the scoops, the knives, the incense boats, and al the bronzefurnishings used in worship.	14 Tomaron también las ollas, las palas, los cuchillos, las fuentes y todos los objetos de bronce que servían para el culto.
15 The commander of the guard also took the censers and the sprinkling bowls, everything made of goldand everything made of silver.	15 El comandante de la guardia tomó asimismo los pebeteros, los aspersorios y todos los objetos de oro y plata.
16 As regards the two pil ars, the one Sea and the wheeled stands, which Solomon of bronze in al theseobjects.	16 En cuanto a las dos columnas, al único Mar de bronce y a las bases que había hecho Salomón para la Casa del Señor, no se podía evaluar el peso de bronce de todos esos objetos.
17 The height of one pil ar was eighteen cubits, and on it stood a capital of bronze, the height of thecapital being five cubits; round the capital were filigree and pomegranates, al in bronze. So also for the secondpil ar.	17 La altura de una columna era de nueve metros; estaba rematada por un capitel de bronce, y la altura del capital era de un metro y medio. Sobre el capitel, todo alrededor, había una moldura en forma de red y de granadas, todo de bronce. La segunda columna, con su red, era igual a la primera.
18 The commander of the guard took prisoner Seraiah the chief priest, Zephaniah the priest next in rank,and the three guardians of the threshold.	18 El comandante de la guardia apresó a Seraías, el sumo sacerdote, a Sefanías, el segundo sacerdote, y a los tres guardianes del umbral.
19 In the city he took prisoner an official who was in command of the fighting men, five of the king'spersonal friends who were discovered in the city, the secretary to the army commander, responsible for militaryconscription, and sixty men of distinction discovered in the city.	19 En la ciudad apresó también a un eunuco, que estaba al frente de los hombres de guerra, a cinco hombres del servicio personal del rey que fueron sorprendidos en la ciudad, al secretario del jefe del ejército, encargado de enrolar al pueblo del país, y a sesenta hombres del pueblo que estaban dentro de la ciudad.
20 Nebuzaradan commander of the guard took these men and brought them to the king of Babylon atRiblah,	20 Después de tomarlos prisioneros, Nebuzaradán, comandante de la guardia, los llevó ante el rey de Babilonia, a Riblá.
21 and at Riblah in the territory of Hamath the king of Babylon had them put to death. Thus Judah wasdeported from its country.	21 El rey de Babilonia los mandó golpear y ejecutar en Riblá, en el país de Jamat. Así fue deportado Judá lejos de su tierra.
22 For the people remaining in the country of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had leftbehind, he appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan as governor.	22 A la población que había quedado en el país, la que había dejado Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, el rey le puso como gobernador a Godolías, hijo de Ajicam, hijo de Safán.
23 When the military leaders and their men all heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah asgovernor, they went to him at Mizpah: Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son ofTanhumeth the Netophathite, Jaazaniah the Maacathite, they and their men.	23 Todos los jefes de las tropas, lo mismo que sus hombres, se enteraron de que el rey de Babilonia había nombrado gobernador a Godolías, y se presentaron ante él en Mispá: eran Ismael, hijo de Natanías, Iojanán, hijo de Caréaj, Seraías, hijo de Tanjumet, el netofita, y Iazanías, hijo del maacatita, junto con sus hombres.
24 To them and to their men Gedaliah swore an oath. 'Do not be afraid of the Chaldaeans,' he said, 'stayin the country, serve the king of Babylon, and al wil go wel with you.'	24 Godolías les hizo un juramento, a ellos y a sus hombres, y les dijo: «No tengan miedo de servir a los caldeos; permanezcan en el país, sirvan al rey de Babilonia, y les irá bien».
25 But in the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, who was of royal descent, andten men with him, came and murdered Gedaliah, as wel as the Judaeans and Chaldaeans who were with him atMizpah.	25 Pero en el séptimo mes, Ismael, hijo de Natanías, hijo de Elisamá, que era de estirpe real, llegó con diez hombres, y ellos mataron a Godolías y a los judíos y caldeos que estaban con él en Mispá.
26 Then all the people, high and low, with the military leaders, set off and went to Egypt, being afraid ofthe Chaldaeans.	26 Entonces todo el pueblo, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, y los jefes de las tropas, partieron y se fueron a Egipto, por miedo a los caldeos.
27 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-Merodach king of Babylon, in the year he came to the throne, pardonedJehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.	27 El trigésimo séptimo año de la deportación de Joaquín, rey de Judá, el día veintisiete del duodécimo mes, Evil Merodac, rey de Babilonia, en el año de su entronización, indultó a Joaquín, rey de Judá, y lo hizo salir de la prisión.
28 He treated him with kindness and al otted him a seat above those of the other kings who were withhim in Babylon.	28 Le habló amigablemente y le asignó un sitial más elevado que el de los reyes que estaban con él en Babilonia.
29 So Jehoiachin laid aside his prisoner's garb, and for the rest of his life always ate at the king's table.	29 Le hizo cambiar su ropa de prisionero, y Joaquín comió siempre en su presencia, durante toda su vida.
30 And his upkeep was permanently ensured by the king, day after day, for the rest of his life.	30 Su mantenimiento fue asegurado por el rey con una asignación regular para cada día, durante toda su vida.
