1 After Ahab's death Moab rebel ed against Israel.	1 - Dopo la morte di Acab, Moab si ribellò ad Israele.
2 Ahaziah had fal en from the balcony of his upper room in Samaria, and was lying il ; so he sentmessengers, saying to them, 'Go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron and ask whether I shal recover from myil ness.'	2 Ocozia cadde dal parapetto della sua camera alta, che aveva in Samaria e ne restò ammalato; e spedì messaggeri, ai quali disse: «Andate a consultare Beelzebub, dio di Accaron, se io potrò riavermi da questa malattia».
3 But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, 'Up! Go and intercept the king of Samaria'smessengers. Say to them, "Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron?	3 Ma l'angelo del Signore così parlò ad Elia Tesbite: «Levati e sali incontro ai messi del re di Samaria, e di' loro: - Non v'è forse Dio in Israele, per andar voi a consultare Beelzebub, dio di Accaron? -
4 Yahweh says this: You will never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." ' AndElijah set out.	4 Perciò così dice il Signore: - Tu non scenderai più dal letto, sul quale sei salito, ma morrai certamente -». Ed Elia se ne andò.
5 The messengers returned to the king, who said, 'Why have you come back?'	5 I messi fecero ritorno da Ocozia, che chiese loro: «Perchè siete ritornati?».
6 'A man came to meet us,' they answered. 'He said, "Go back to the king who sent you and tell him:Yahweh says this: Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron? For this, youwil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	6 E quelli risposero: «Ci è venuto incontro un uomo e ci ha detto: - Andate e ritornatevene dal re, che vi ha mandato, e dite a lui: Così parla il Signore: Forse perchè non vi è un Dio in Israele, tu mandi a consultare Beelzebub, Dio di Accaron? Perciò tu non scenderai dal letto, sul quale sei salito, ma morrai certamente -».
7 He said, 'This man who met you and said al this, what was he like?'	7 Il re domandò loro: «Qual aspetto, e qual abito aveva l'uomo, che vi è venuto incontro e vi ha detto queste parole?»,
8 'A man wearing a hair cloak', they answered, 'and a leather loincloth.' 'It was Elijah the Tishbite,' he said.	8 ed essi risposero: «Era un uomo peloso e aveva una cintura di pelle stretta ai fianchi». Allora il re disse: «È Elia Tesbite».
9 He then sent a captain of fifty soldiers with his fifty men to Elijah, whom they found sitting on top of a hil ;the captain went up to him and said, 'Man of God, the king says, "Come down." '	9 Mandò dunque a lui un capo di cinquanta uomini, coi cinquanta che gli eran sottoposti. E questi salì verso Elia, il quale stava sulla sommità del monte, e gli disse: «Uomo di Dio, il re comanda che tu discenda».
10 Elijah answered the captain, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you andyour fifty men.' And fire fell from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	10 E per risposta Elia disse al capo dei cinquanta soldati: «Se sono uomo di Dio, scenda fuoco dal cielo e divori te e i tuoi cinquanta». Scese pertanto del fuoco dal cielo e divorò lui e i cinquanta che lo accompagnavano.
11 The king sent a second captain of fifty to him, again with fifty men, and he too went up and said, 'Manof God, this is the king's order, "Come down at once." '	11 Il re mandò di nuovo a lui un capo di cinquanta coi suoi cinquanta uomini, il quale disse ad Elia: «Uomo di Dio, il re dice questo: - Affrettati a discendere -».
12 Elijah answered them, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you and yourfifty men.' And lightning fel from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	12 Ma Elia rispose: «Se sono un uomo di Dio, scenda fuoco dal cielo e divori te e i tuoi cinquanta». E dal cielo scese del fuoco e divorò lui e i suoi cinquanta uomini.
13 The king then sent a third captain of fifty to him, with another fifty men. The third captain of fifty cameup to Elijah, fel on his knees before him and pleaded with him. 'Man of God,' he said, 'may my life and the livesof these fifty servants of yours count for something in your eyes.	13 Il re mandò di nuovo un terzo capo di cinquanta coi suoi cinquanta uomini. Arrivato costui, si inginocchiò dinanzi ad Elia e lo scongiurò, dicendo: «Uomo di Dio, non disprezzare la mia vita e quella dei tuoi servi che stanno con me.
14 Fire has fal en from heaven and destroyed two captains of fifties and their companies, but this timemay my life count for something in your eyes!'	14 Discese già del fuoco dal cielo e divorò i due primi capi di cinquanta uomini coi cinquanta ch'eran con loro. Ma ora ti scongiuro di aver pietà della mia vita».
15 The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, 'Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.' He rose andaccompanied him down to the king,	15 E l'angelo del Signore disse ad Elia: «Discendi con lui e non temere». Ed Elia si levò e discese con lui dal re
16 and said to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Since you sent messengers to consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron,you wil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	16 e disse a lui: «Così parla il Signore: - Perchè tu hai mandato messaggeri a consultare Beelzebub, dio di Accaron, quasi non vi fosse un Dio in Israele, da cui potessi avere un responso, per questo non discenderai più dal letto sul quale sei salito e morrai certamente -».
17 And, in accordance with the word of Yahweh which Elijah had uttered, he died. Since he had no son,his brother Jehoram succeeded him, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.	17 E Ocozia morì, secondo la parola del Signore proferita da Elia e, in suo luogo, regnò Joram, fratello di lui, nel secondo anno di Joram figlio di Josafat, re di Giuda, giacchè Ocozia non aveva figliuoli.
18 The rest of the history of Ahaziah, and his career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Israel?	18 Il resto delle azioni compiute da Ocozia non è forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re d'Israele?
