1 After Ahab's death Moab rebel ed against Israel.	1 Or dopo la morte di Achab, si ribellò Moab contro Israele.
2 Ahaziah had fal en from the balcony of his upper room in Samaria, and was lying il ; so he sentmessengers, saying to them, 'Go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron and ask whether I shal recover from myil ness.'	2 E Ochozìa cadde dalla finestra di un appartamento, che egli avea in Samaria, e ne resto ammalato; e spedì dei messi, a' quali disse: Andate a consultare Beelzebub dio di Accaron, se io possa riavermi da questa mia malattia.
3 But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, 'Up! Go and intercept the king of Samaria'smessengers. Say to them, "Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron?	3 Ma l'Angelo del Signore parlò ad Elia Thesbite, e gli disse: Parti, e va incontro ai messi del re di Samaria, e dirai loro: Non v'ha egli Dio in Israele, che voi andate a consultare Beelzebub dio di Accaron?
4 Yahweh says this: You will never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." ' AndElijah set out.	4 Per la qual cosa così dice il Signore: Dal letto, in cui ti se' messo, non uscirai, ma assolutamente morrai. Ed Elia se n'andò.
5 The messengers returned to the king, who said, 'Why have you come back?'	5 E i messi tornarono ad Ochozia, il qual disse loro: Perchè siete tornati indietro?
6 'A man came to meet us,' they answered. 'He said, "Go back to the king who sent you and tell him:Yahweh says this: Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron? For this, youwil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	6 E quelli risposero: Ci si è fatto innanzi un uomo, e ci ha detto: Andate, e tornate al re, che vi ha mandati, e ditegli: Queste cose dice il Signore: Forse perchè non havvi Dio in Israele, tu mandi a consultar Beelzebub dio di Accaron? Per questo dal letto, in cui ti sei messo non uscirai, ma morrai indubitatamente.
7 He said, 'This man who met you and said al this, what was he like?'	7 Ed egli disse loro: Qual è la figura, e l'abito di queir uomo, che è venuto incontro a voi, e vi ha dette queste parole?
8 'A man wearing a hair cloak', they answered, 'and a leather loincloth.' 'It was Elijah the Tishbite,' he said.	8 E quelli dissero: Egli è un uomo peloso, e che si cinge i fianchi con una cintola di cuoio. Ed egli disse: Questi è Elia di Thesbe.
9 He then sent a captain of fifty soldiers with his fifty men to Elijah, whom they found sitting on top of a hil ;the captain went up to him and said, 'Man of God, the king says, "Come down." '	9 E mandò a lui un capitano di cinquanta uomini, co' cinquanta, che gli eran subordinati. E questi andò a trovarlo, mentre sedea sulla cima di un monte, e gli disse: Uomo di Dio, il re comanda, che tu venga a basso.
10 Elijah answered the captain, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you andyour fifty men.' And fire fell from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	10 Ed Elia rispose, e disse al capitano di cinquanta: Se io son uomo di Dio, scenda il fuoco dal cielo, e divori te, e i tuoi cinquanta uomini. E venne il fuoco dal cielo, e divorò colui te e i cinquanta uomini, che eran con lui.
11 The king sent a second captain of fifty to him, again with fifty men, and he too went up and said, 'Manof God, this is the king's order, "Come down at once." '	11 E di nuovo (Ochozia) mandò da lui un altro capitano di cinquanta uomini, e con esso i cinquanta. E questi gli disse: Uomo di Dio, il re dice così: a presto, discendi.
12 Elijah answered them, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you and yourfifty men.' And lightning fel from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	12 Elia rispose, e disse: Se io son uomo di Dio, scenda il fuoco dal cielo, e divori te, e i tuoi cinquanta. Venne pertanto il fuoco dal cielo, e lo divorò co' suoi cinquanta.
13 The king then sent a third captain of fifty to him, with another fifty men. The third captain of fifty cameup to Elijah, fel on his knees before him and pleaded with him. 'Man of God,' he said, 'may my life and the livesof these fifty servants of yours count for something in your eyes.	13 Di nuovo quegli mandò un terzo capitano di cinquanta uomini, co' suoi cinquanta. Il quale in arrivando si inginocchiò dinanzi ad Elia, e pregollo, e disse: Uomo di Dio, ti raccomando la mia vita, e le vite de' tuoi servi, che sono con me.
14 Fire has fal en from heaven and destroyed two captains of fifties and their companies, but this timemay my life count for something in your eyes!'	14 Ecco, che il fuoco venuto dal cielo ha divorati i primi due capitani di cinquanta uomini, e i cinquanta, che eran con essi; ma ora, ti prego, abbi pietà di me.
15 The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, 'Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.' He rose andaccompanied him down to the king,	15 Or l'Angelo del Signore parlò ad Elia, e disse: Va con lui, non temere. Egli allora si alzò, e andò con lui a trovare il re.
16 and said to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Since you sent messengers to consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron,you wil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	16 E dissegli: Queste cose dice il Signore: Perchè tu hai spediti de' messi a consultar Beelzebub dio di Accaron, come se non fosse Dio in Israele, cui tu potessi consultare, per questo dal letto, in cui ti se' messo, non uscirai, ma assolutamente morrai.
17 And, in accordance with the word of Yahweh which Elijah had uttered, he died. Since he had no son,his brother Jehoram succeeded him, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.	17 Egli adunque mori secondo la parola del Signore pronunziata da Elia, e gli succedette nel regno Joram suo fratello, l'anno secondo di Joram figliuolo di Josaphat re di Giuda: perocché quegli non avea verun figliuolo.
