NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 After Ahab's death Moab rebel ed against Israel.	1 Después de la muerte de Ajab, Moab se sublevó contra Israel.
2 Ahaziah had fal en from the balcony of his upper room in Samaria, and was lying il ; so he sentmessengers, saying to them, 'Go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron and ask whether I shal recover from myil ness.'	2 Ocozías se cayó por el balcón del piso alto de su casa, en Samaría, y quedó malherido. Entonces envió unos mensajeros con este encargo: «Vayan a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón, si me repondré de mis heridas».
3 But the angel of Yahweh said to Elijah the Tishbite, 'Up! Go and intercept the king of Samaria'smessengers. Say to them, "Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron?	3 Pero el Angel del Señor dijo a Elías, el tisbita: Sube al encuentro de los mensajeros del rey de Samaría, y diles: ¿Acaso no hay Dios en Israel, para que ustedes vayan a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón?
4 Yahweh says this: You will never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." ' AndElijah set out.	4 Por eso, así habla el Señor: No te levantarás del lecho en el que has acostado, porque morirás irremediablemente». Y Elías se fue.
5 The messengers returned to the king, who said, 'Why have you come back?'	5 Los mensajeros regresaron, y el rey les preguntó: «¿Cómo es que están de vuelta?».
6 'A man came to meet us,' they answered. 'He said, "Go back to the king who sent you and tell him:Yahweh says this: Is there no God in Israel, for you to go and consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron? For this, youwil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	6 Ellos le dijeron: «Un hombre nos salió al encuentro y nos dijo: Vuelvan a ver al rey que los ha enviado y díganle: Así habla el Señor: ¿Acaso no hay Dios en Israel, para que tú mandes a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón? Por eso, no te levantarás del lecho en el que te has acostado, porque morirás irremediablemente».
7 He said, 'This man who met you and said al this, what was he like?'	7 El rey les preguntó: «¿Cómo era el hombre que subió al encuentro de ustedes y les dijo esas palabras?».
8 'A man wearing a hair cloak', they answered, 'and a leather loincloth.' 'It was Elijah the Tishbite,' he said.	8 Ellos le respondieron: «Era un hombre con un manto de piel y con un cinturón de cuero ajustado a la cintura. Entonces el rey exclamó: «¡Es Elías, el tisbita!».
9 He then sent a captain of fifty soldiers with his fifty men to Elijah, whom they found sitting on top of a hil ;the captain went up to him and said, 'Man of God, the king says, "Come down." '	9 El rey envió a un oficial con sus cincuenta hombres para buscar a Elías. Cuando él subió a buscarlo, lo encontró sentado en la cumbre la montaña, y le dijo: «Hombre de Dios, el rey ha dicho que bajes».
10 Elijah answered the captain, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you andyour fifty men.' And fire fell from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	10 Elías respondió al oficial: «Si yo soy un hombre de Dios, que baje fuego del cielo y te devore, a ti y a tus cincuenta hombres». Y bajó fuego del cielo y lo devoró, a él y a sus cincuenta hombres.
11 The king sent a second captain of fifty to him, again with fifty men, and he too went up and said, 'Manof God, this is the king's order, "Come down at once." '	11 El rey le volvió a enviar otro oficial con sus cincuenta hombres. Este tomó la palabra y dijo a Elías: «Hombre de Dios, así habla el rey: Baja en seguida».
12 Elijah answered them, 'If I am a man of God, may fire fal from heaven and destroy both you and yourfifty men.' And lightning fel from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.	12 Elías le respondió: «Si yo soy un hombre de Dios, que baje fuego del cielo y te devore, a ti y a tus cincuenta hombres». Y bajo fuego del cielo y lo devoró, a él y a sus cincuenta hombres.
13 The king then sent a third captain of fifty to him, with another fifty men. The third captain of fifty cameup to Elijah, fel on his knees before him and pleaded with him. 'Man of God,' he said, 'may my life and the livesof these fifty servants of yours count for something in your eyes.	13 El rey volvió a enviar a un tercer oficial con sus cincuenta hombres. El tercer oficial subió y, al llegar, se puso de rodillas frente a Elías y le suplicó, diciendo: «Hombre de Dios, por favor, que mi vida y la vida de estos cincuenta servidores tuyos tengan algún valor a tus ojos.
14 Fire has fal en from heaven and destroyed two captains of fifties and their companies, but this timemay my life count for something in your eyes!'	14 Ya ha bajado fuego del cielo y ha devorado a los dos oficiales anteriores con sus cincuenta hombres. Pero ahora, ¡que mi vida tenga algún valor a tus ojos!».
15 The angel of Yahweh said to Elijah, 'Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.' He rose andaccompanied him down to the king,	15 El Angel del Señor dijo a Elías: «Baja con él, no le temas». Elías se levantó, bajó con él a presentarse ante el rey,
16 and said to him, 'Yahweh says this, "Since you sent messengers to consult Baal-Zebub god of Ekron,you wil never leave the bed you have got into; you are certainly going to die." '	16 y le dijo: «Así habla el Señor: Por haber enviado mensajeros a consultar a Baal Zebub, el dios de Ecrón, como si no hubiera Dios en Israel para consultar su palabra, por eso, no te levantarás del lecho donde te has acostado: morirás irremediablemente».
17 And, in accordance with the word of Yahweh which Elijah had uttered, he died. Since he had no son,his brother Jehoram succeeded him, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah.	17 El rey murió, conforme a la palabra del Señor que había pronunciado Elías. En lugar de él reinó su hermano Joram, en el segundo año de Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá; porque Ocozías no tenía hijos.
