1 Kings 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 There came to Bethel at Yahweh's command a man of God from Judah, just as Jeroboam wasstanding by the altar to offer the sacrifice,	1 Quand'ecco, un uomo di Dio venne da Giuda a Betel con un messaggio del Signore, mentre Geroboamo si trovava presso l'altare per bruciare aromi.
2 and at Yahweh's command this man denounced the altar. 'Altar, altar,' he said, 'Yahweh says this, "Ason is to be born to the House of David, Josiah by name, and on you he wil slaughter the priests of the highplaces who have offered sacrifice on you, and on you he will burn human bones." '	2 Su ordine del Signore quegli gridò contro l'altare: "Altare, altare! Così parla il Signore: "Ecco, un figlio nascerà alla casa di Davide che si chiamerà Giosia; questi immolerà su di te i sacerdoti delle alture, che bruciano su di te gli aromi e brucerà su di te ossa umane".
3 At the same time he gave a sign. 'This is the sign', he said, 'that Yahweh has spoken, "This altar willburst apart and the ashes which are on it will be spilt." '	3 Nello stesso tempo egli diede anche un segno dicendo: "Questo è il segno che il Signore ha parlato: ecco, l'altare si spezzerà e si spanderà la cenere che vi si trova sopra".
4 When the king heard how the man of God denounced the altar of Bethel, he stretched out his handfrom the altar, saying, 'Seize him!' But the hand he stretched out against the man withered, and he could notdraw it back,	4 Quando il re udì la parola che l'uomo di Dio aveva lanciato contro l'altare a Betel, stese verso di lui la mano ritirandola dall'altare e dicendo: "Afferratelo!"; ma la mano che aveva teso contro di lui si seccò e non poté più farla ritornare a sé.
5 and the altar burst apart and the ashes from the altar were spilt, in accordance with the sign given bythe man of God at Yahweh's command.	5 L'altare si spezzò e la cenere si sparse giù dall'altare, secondo il segno che l'uomo di Dio aveva dato su ordine del Signore.
6 The king said to the man of God, 'I beg you to placate Yahweh your God, and so restore me the use ofmy hand.' The man of God placated Yahweh; the king's hand was restored as it had been before.	6 Il re intervenne di nuovo e disse all'uomo di Dio: "Placa il volto del Signore tuo Dio e prega per me affinché la mia mano ritorni a me". L'uomo di Dio placò il volto del Signore e la mano del re ritornò a lui, com'era prima.
7 The king then said to the man of God, 'Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I shall give you apresent,'	7 Quindi il re disse all'uomo di Dio: "Vieni con me a casa e ristorati! Ti darò anche un regalo".
8 but the man of God replied to the king, 'Were you to give me half your palace, I would not go with you. Iwil eat and drink nothing here,	8 Ma l'uomo di Dio disse al re: "Anche se mi dessi la metà della tua casa, non verrò con te. In questo luogo non mangerò pane né berrò acqua,
9 for I have had Yahweh's order, "You are to eat or drink nothing, nor to return by the way you came." '	9 perché così mi è stato ordinato da parte del Signore: "Non mangerai pane né berrai acqua né ritornerai per la strada per cui sei venuto".
10 And he left by another road and did not return by the way he had come to Bethel.	10 Egli dunque se ne andò per un'altra strada e non ritornò per la strada per cui era venuto a Betel.
11 Now there was an old prophet living in Bethel, and his sons came to tel him al that the man of Godhad done in Bethel that day; and the words which he had said to the king, they told these to their father too.	11 A Betel dimorava un vecchio profeta e i suoi figli vennero e gli raccontarono tutto quello che l'uomo di Dio aveva fatto in quel giorno a Betel e riferirono al loro padre le parole che egli aveva detto al re.
12 'Which road did he take?' their father asked. His sons showed him the road which the man of Godwho came from Judah had taken.	12 Questi domandò loro: "Per quale strada se n'è andato?". I figli gli mostrarono la via per cui se n'era andato l'uomo di Dio venuto da Giuda.
13 'Saddle the donkey for me,' he said to his sons; they saddled the donkey for him and he mounted.	13 Allora egli disse ai suoi figli: "Sellatemi l'asino". Gli sellarono l'asino ed egli vi salì sopra.
14 He fol owed the man of God and found him sitting under a terebinth. 'Are you the man of God', hesaid, 'who came from Judah?' 'I am,' he replied.	14 Rincorse l'uomo di Dio e lo trovò seduto sotto il terebinto. Allora gli domandò: "Sei tu l'uomo di Dio venuto da Giuda?". Quegli rispose: "Sono io".
15 'Come home with me,' he said, 'and take some food.'	15 L'altro gli disse: "Vieni con me a casa per mangiare un boccone".
16 'I cannot go back with you,' he answered, 'or eat or drink anything here,	16 Ma quegli rispose: "Non posso tornare con te, né accompagnarti né mangiare pane né bere acqua in questo luogo,
17 for I have received Yahweh's order, "You are to eat or drink nothing there, nor to return by the wayyou came." '	17 poiché così mi è stato ordinato da parte del Signore: "Non mangerai pane né berrai acqua e neppure ritornerai percorrendo la strada per cui sei venuto".
18 'I too am a prophet like you,' the other replied, 'and an angel told me this by Yahweh's command,"Bring him back with you to your house to eat and drink." ' He was lying to him.	18 Ma quegli riprese: "Anch'io sono profeta come te e un angelo mi ha detto per ordine del Signore: "Riconducilo con te a casa tua perché mangi pane e beva acqua". Così lo ingannò.
19 The man of God went back with him; he ate and drank at his house.	19 Egli ritornò allora con lui, mangiò pane nella sua casa e bevve acqua.
20 As they were sitting at table a word of Yahweh came to the prophet who had brought him back,	20 Ora, mentre essi stavano seduti a tavola, la parola del Signore fu indirizzata al profeta che lo aveva fatto tornare indietro,
21 and he addressed the man of God who came from Judah. 'Yahweh says this,' he said. ' "Since you have defied Yahweh's command and not obeyed the orders which Yahweh your God gave you,	21 ed egli gridò all'uomo di Dio venuto da Giuda: "Così dice il Signore: "Poiché ti sei ribellato all'ordine del Signore e non hai osservato il comando che ti aveva dato il Signore tuo Dio,
22 but have come back and eaten and drunk where he forbade you to eat and drink, your corpse wilnever reach the tomb of your ancestors." '	22 ma sei ritornato, hai mangiato pane e bevuto acqua nel luogo dove egli ti aveva detto di non mangiare pane né di bere acqua, il tuo cadavere non entrerà nel sepolcro dei tuoi antenati".
23 After he had eaten and drunk, the prophet saddled the donkey for him, and he turned about and wentaway.	23 Dopo che ebbero mangiato pane e bevuto acqua, gli sellò l'asino ed egli fece ritorno.
24 A lion met him on the road and killed him; his corpse lay stretched out on the road; the donkey stoodthere beside it; the lion stood by the corpse too.	24 Mentre se ne andava, trovò per la strada un leone che lo uccise. Il suo cadavere giacque sulla strada, mentre l'asino gli stava a fianco e anche il leone stava a fianco del cadavere.
25 People going by saw the corpse lying on the road and the lion standing by the corpse, and went andspoke about it in the town where the old prophet lived.	25 Or alcuni uomini passarono di là e videro il cadavere giacere sulla strada e il leone che stava a fianco del cadavere. Essi andarono a diffondere la notizia nella città in cui abitava il vecchio profeta.
26 When the prophet who had made the man turn back heard about it, he said, 'That is the man of Godwho defied Yahweh's command! Yahweh has handed him over to the lion, which has mauled and kil ed him, justas Yahweh had foretold it would.'	26 Come l'udì il profeta che l'aveva fatto tornare dalla sua strada, disse: "Costui è certamente l'uomo di Dio che ha trasgredito l'ordine del Signore e che il Signore ha dato in preda al leone, il quale lo ha sbranato e ucciso, secondo la parola che il Signore gli aveva detto".
27 He said to his sons, 'Saddle the donkey for me,' and they saddled it.	27 Disse poi ai suoi figli: "Sellatemi l'asino". Glielo sellarono ed egli
28 He set off and found the man's corpse lying on the road with the donkey and the lion standing besidethe corpse; the lion had neither eaten the corpse nor mauled the donkey.	28 andò e trovò il cadavere che giaceva sulla strada, l'asino e il leone che stavano a fianco del cadavere; il leone non aveva divorato il cadavere né sbranato l'asino.
29 The prophet lifted the corpse of the man of God and put it on the donkey and brought it back to thetown where he lived to hold mourning for him and bury him.	29 Il profeta prese il cadavere dell'uomo di Dio, lo caricò sull'asino, lo riportò indietro in città per farne il lamento funebre e seppellirlo.
30 He laid the corpse in his own tomb, and they raised the mourning cry for him, 'Alas, my brother!'	30 Depose il cadavere nel suo sepolcro e fece il lamento funebre su di lui: "Ahi, fratello mio!".
31 After burying him, the prophet said to his sons, 'When I die, bury me in the same tomb as the man ofGod, lay my bones beside his.	31 Dopo averlo seppellito, disse ai propri figli: "Quando sarò morto, mi seppellirete nel sepolcro in cui è sepolto l'uomo di Dio, porrete le mie ossa accanto alle sue ossa,
32 For the word he uttered at Yahweh's command against the altar of Bethel and against al the shrinesof the high places in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true.'	32 perché certamente si realizzerà la parola che egli ha pronunciato, per ordine del Signore, contro l'altare di Betel e contro tutti i santuari delle alture che si trovano nelle città di Samaria".
33 Jeroboam did not give up his wicked ways after this incident, but went on appointing priests for thehigh places from the common people. He consecrated as priests of the high places any who wished to be.	33 Anche dopo questo fatto Geroboamo non si allontanò dalla strada cattiva, ma continuò a scegliere dal popolo comune sacerdoti delle alture: riempiva la mano a chiunque lo desiderasse e quegli diventava sacerdote delle alture.
34 Such conduct made the House of Jeroboam a sinful House, and caused its ruin and extinction fromthe face of the earth.	34 Questo fu il peccato per la casa di Geroboamo, che la condusse alla rovina e allo sterminio dalla faccia della terra.
