1 Kings 13

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 There came to Bethel at Yahweh's command a man of God from Judah, just as Jeroboam wasstanding by the altar to offer the sacrifice,	1 Un hombre de Dios vino a Judá a Betel, por orden del Señor, mientras Jeroboam estaba de pie junto al altar para quemar incienso.
2 and at Yahweh's command this man denounced the altar. 'Altar, altar,' he said, 'Yahweh says this, "Ason is to be born to the House of David, Josiah by name, and on you he wil slaughter the priests of the highplaces who have offered sacrifice on you, and on you he will burn human bones." '	2 Y gritó contra el altar, por orden del Señor: «¡Altar! ¡Altar! A la casa de David le nacerá un hijo –su nombre será Josías– y él inmolará sobre ti a los sacerdotes de los lugares altos que queman incienso sobre ti, y hará arder sobre ti huesos humanos».
3 At the same time he gave a sign. 'This is the sign', he said, 'that Yahweh has spoken, "This altar willburst apart and the ashes which are on it will be spilt." '	3 Ese mismo día, el hombre de Dios dio una señal, diciendo: «Esta es la señal de que ha hablado el Señor: el altar se va a resquebrajar, y se desparramará la ceniza grasienta que hay sobre él».
4 When the king heard how the man of God denounced the altar of Bethel, he stretched out his handfrom the altar, saying, 'Seize him!' But the hand he stretched out against the man withered, and he could notdraw it back,	4 Al oír la palabra que el hombre de Dios proclamaba contra el altar de Betel, Jeroboam extendió su brazo desde encima del altar, diciendo: «¡Deténganlo!». Pero el brazo que había extendido hacia el hombre de Dios le quedó paralizado, y no pudo volverlo atrás.
5 and the altar burst apart and the ashes from the altar were spilt, in accordance with the sign given bythe man of God at Yahweh's command.	5 El altar se resquebrajó y se desparramó la ceniza grasienta que había en él, conforme a la señal que había dado el hombre de Dios por orden del Señor.
6 The king said to the man of God, 'I beg you to placate Yahweh your God, and so restore me the use ofmy hand.' The man of God placated Yahweh; the king's hand was restored as it had been before.	6 Entonces el rey tomó la palabra y dijo al hombre de Dios: «Aplaca, por favor, el rostro del Señor, tu Dios, y ruega por mí, para que pueda doblar mi brazo». El hombre de Dios aplacó el rostro del Señor, y el rey pudo doblar el brazo como antes.
7 The king then said to the man of God, 'Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I shall give you apresent,'	7 El rey dijo entonces al hombre de Dios: «Entra conmigo en la casa para reconfortarte, y te dará un regalo».
8 but the man of God replied to the king, 'Were you to give me half your palace, I would not go with you. Iwil eat and drink nothing here,	8 Pero el hombre de Dios respondió al rey: «Aunque me des la mitad de tu casa, no iré contigo. No comeré pan ni beberé agua en este lugar,
9 for I have had Yahweh's order, "You are to eat or drink nothing, nor to return by the way you came." '	9 porque esto es lo que se me ha mandado por orden del Señor: No comerás pan ni beberás agua, ni regresarás por el mismo camino».
10 And he left by another road and did not return by the way he had come to Bethel.	10 Y se fue por otro camino, sin retomar el que había recorrido para venir a Betel.
11 Now there was an old prophet living in Bethel, and his sons came to tel him al that the man of Godhad done in Bethel that day; and the words which he had said to the king, they told these to their father too.	11 Había un viejo profeta que vivía en Betel. Sus hijos fueron a contarle todo lo que el hombre de Dios había hecho aquel día en Betel, y también le contaron a su padre las palabras que había dicho al rey.
12 'Which road did he take?' their father asked. His sons showed him the road which the man of Godwho came from Judah had taken.	12 Su padre les preguntó: «¿Por qué camino se fue?». Los hijos le indicaron el camino que había tomado el hombre de Dios venido de Judá,
13 'Saddle the donkey for me,' he said to his sons; they saddled the donkey for him and he mounted.	13 y él les dijo: «Ensíllenme el asno» Le ensillaron el asno y él se montó.
14 He fol owed the man of God and found him sitting under a terebinth. 'Are you the man of God', hesaid, 'who came from Judah?' 'I am,' he replied.	14 Luego se fue detrás del hombre de Dios y lo encontró sentado bajo el terebinto. «¿Eres tú el hombre de Dios que vino de Judá?», le preguntó. «Así es», respondió él.
15 'Come home with me,' he said, 'and take some food.'	15 Entonces el profeta le dijo: «Ven conmigo a casa a comer algo».
16 'I cannot go back with you,' he answered, 'or eat or drink anything here,	16 Pero el otro replicó: «No puedo volver contigo ni acompañarte. No comeré pan ni beberé agua contigo en este lugar,
17 for I have received Yahweh's order, "You are to eat or drink nothing there, nor to return by the wayyou came." '	17 porque esta es la orden que recibí del Señor: No comerás pan ni beberás agua cuando estés allí, ni regresarás por el camino que tomaste a la ida:.
18 'I too am a prophet like you,' the other replied, 'and an angel told me this by Yahweh's command,"Bring him back with you to your house to eat and drink." ' He was lying to him.	18 El otro le dijo: «Yo también soy profeta como tú, y un ángel me dijo, por orden del Señor: Tráelo contigo a tu casa, para que coma pan y beba agua:. Pero en realidad le estaba mintiendo.
19 The man of God went back with him; he ate and drank at his house.	19 Así el hombre de Dios regresó con él, y comió y bebió en su casa.
20 As they were sitting at table a word of Yahweh came to the prophet who had brought him back,	20 Mientras estaban sentados a la mesa, la palabra del Señor llegó al profeta que lo había hecho volver,
21 and he addressed the man of God who came from Judah. 'Yahweh says this,' he said. ' "Since you have defied Yahweh's command and not obeyed the orders which Yahweh your God gave you,	21 y este gritó al hombre de Dios venido de Judá: «Así habla el Señor: Porque has sido rebelde a la orden del Señor y no has observado el mandato que te dio el Señor, tu Dios;
22 but have come back and eaten and drunk where he forbade you to eat and drink, your corpse wilnever reach the tomb of your ancestors." '	22 porque has regresado y has comido pan y bebido agua en el lugar del que te había dicho: «No comas pan ni bebas agua allí», por eso, tu cadáver no entrará en la tumba de tus padres».
23 After he had eaten and drunk, the prophet saddled the donkey for him, and he turned about and wentaway.	23 Después que él comió y bebió, el profeta le ensilló el asno,
24 A lion met him on the road and killed him; his corpse lay stretched out on the road; the donkey stoodthere beside it; the lion stood by the corpse too.	24 y el hombre de Dios emprendió el camino de regreso. Pero un león lo encontró en el camino y lo mató. Su cadáver quedó tendido en el camino, y el asno y el león permanecieron de pie al lado de él.
25 People going by saw the corpse lying on the road and the lion standing by the corpse, and went andspoke about it in the town where the old prophet lived.	25 Unos hombres que pasaban por ahí vieron el cadáver tendido sobre el camino y al león parado junto a él, y fueron a dar la noticia a la ciudad donde vivía el viejo profeta.
26 When the prophet who had made the man turn back heard about it, he said, 'That is the man of Godwho defied Yahweh's command! Yahweh has handed him over to the lion, which has mauled and kil ed him, justas Yahweh had foretold it would.'	26 Cuando se enteró el profeta que lo había hecho volver atrás, dijo: «¡Es el hombre de Dios que se rebeló contra la orden del Señor! El Señor lo entregó al león, que lo destrozó y lo mató, según la palabra que le había dicho el Señor».
27 He said to his sons, 'Saddle the donkey for me,' and they saddled it.	27 Luego dijo a sus hijos: «Ensíllenme el asno». Cuando se lo ensillaron,
28 He set off and found the man's corpse lying on the road with the donkey and the lion standing besidethe corpse; the lion had neither eaten the corpse nor mauled the donkey.	28 él partió y encontró el cadáver tendido sobre el camino, mientras que el asno y el león estaban de pie junto al cadáver; el león no había devorado el cadáver ni había despedazado al asno.
29 The prophet lifted the corpse of the man of God and put it on the donkey and brought it back to thetown where he lived to hold mourning for him and bury him.	29 El viejo profeta recogió el cadáver del hombre de Dios, lo cargó sobre el asno y lo llevó a la ciudad para hacer duelo por él y enterrarlo.
30 He laid the corpse in his own tomb, and they raised the mourning cry for him, 'Alas, my brother!'	30 Puso el cadáver en su propia tumba, y le entonaron la lamentación: «¡Ay, hermano mío!».
31 After burying him, the prophet said to his sons, 'When I die, bury me in the same tomb as the man ofGod, lay my bones beside his.	31 Después que lo enterraron, el profeta habló así a sus hijos: «Cuando yo muera, me enterrarán en la tumba donde ha sido sepultado el hombre de Dios; depositen mis huesos junto a los suyos,
32 For the word he uttered at Yahweh's command against the altar of Bethel and against al the shrinesof the high places in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true.'	32 porque ciertamente se cumplirá la palabra que él proclamó, por orden del Señor, contra el altar de Betel y contra todos los santuarios de los lugares altos que están en las ciudades de Samaría».
33 Jeroboam did not give up his wicked ways after this incident, but went on appointing priests for thehigh places from the common people. He consecrated as priests of the high places any who wished to be.	33 Después que sucedió esto, Jeroboam no se convirtió de su mala conducta. Volvió a instituir como sacerdotes de los lugares altos a personas tomadas del común de la gente; todo el que lo deseaba era investido por él y se convertía en sacerdote de los lugares altos.
34 Such conduct made the House of Jeroboam a sinful House, and caused its ruin and extinction fromthe face of the earth.	34 Esto fue una ocasión de pecado para la casa de Jeroboam, y provocó su destrucción y su exterminio de la faz de la tierra.
