NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 David asked, 'Is there anyone belonging to Saul's family left, to whom I might show faithful love forJonathan's sake?'	1 Davide domandò: "C'è ancora qualche superstite della casa di Saul? Vorrei usargli misericordia a motivo di Gionata".
2 Now Saul's family had a servant whose name was Ziba. When he had been summoned to David, theking said, 'Are you Ziba?' 'At your service,' he replied.	2 La casa di Saul aveva un servo di nome Zibà, che fu fatto venire da Davide. Il re gli domandò: "Sei tu Zibà?". Quello rispose: "Sono io, tuo servo!".
3 The king said, 'Is there no one left, belonging to Saul's family, for me to treat with God's own faithfullove?' Ziba said to the king, 'There is stil one of Jonathan's sons. He has crippled feet.'	3 Aggiunse il re: "Non c'è più nessuno della casa di Saul? Vorrei usare con lui la bontà di Dio!". Zibà rispose al re: "C'è ancora un figlio di Gionata con i piedi storpi".
4 The king asked 'Where is he?' Ziba replied, 'He is living in the household of Machir son of Ammiel, atLo-Debar.'	4 Il re gli domandò: "Dov'è?". Zibà gli rispose: "E' in casa di Machir, figlio di Ammièl, a Lodebàr".
5 So King David sent for him to be fetched from the house of Machir son of Ammiel at Lo-Debar.	5 Allora il re Davide lo mandò a prendere dalla casa di Machir, figlio di Ammièl, a Lodebàr.
6 On entering David's presence, Meribbaal son of Jonathan, son of Saul, fel on his face and prostratedhimself. David said, 'Meribbaal!' He replied, 'Here I am, at your service.'	6 Merib-Baal, figlio di Gionata, figlio di Saul, arrivato da Davide, cadde sulla sua faccia e si prostrò. Davide disse: "Merib-Baal!". Rispose: "Ecco il tuo servo!".
7 David then said, 'Do not be afraid; I wil indeed treat you with faithful love for your father Jonathan'ssake. I shal restore all your grandfather Saul's estates to you, and you will always eat at my table.'	7 Davide gli disse: "Non temere, perché voglio usare benevolenza con te a motivo di Gionata tuo padre. Ti restituisco tutti i campi di Saul tuo padre e tu prenderai cibo sempre alla mia mensa".
8 Meribbaal prostrated himself and said, 'Who is your servant, for you to show favour to a dead dog likeme?'	8 Egli si prostrò e disse: "Che cos'è il tuo servo, perché tu ti volga verso un cane morto quale sono io?".
9 The king then summoned Saul's servant Ziba and said, 'Everything belonging to Saul and his family, Igive to your master's son.	9 Poi il re chiamò Zibà, servo di Saul, e gli disse: "Tutto quello che apparteneva a Saul e a tutta la sua casa, lo do al figlio del tuo padrone.
10 You must work the land for him, you and your sons and your slaves; you must harvest the produce toprovide food for your master's family to eat. But Meribbaal, your master's son, wil always take his own meals atmy table.' Now, Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty slaves.	10 Lavorerai per lui la terra tu, i tuoi figli e i tuoi servi, e il raccolto che ne riceverai assicurerà il cibo per la casa del tuo padrone che essa mangerà; ma Merib-Baal, figlio del tuo padrone, prenderà cibo sempre alla mia mensa". Ora Zibà aveva quindici figli e venti servi.
11 Ziba said to the king, 'Your servant wil do everything my lord the king has ordered his servant.' SoMeribbaal ate at David's table like one of the king's sons.	11 Zibà rispose al re: "Il tuo servo farà tutto esattamente come il re mio signore ha comandato al suo servo". Così Merib-Baal mangiava alla mensa di Davide, come uno dei figli del re.
12 Meribbaal had a young son whose name was Micha. Al the people living in Ziba's household enteredMeribbaal's service.	12 Merib-Baal aveva un bambino di nome Micà; tutti quelli che abitavano la casa di Zibà furono al servizio di Merib-Baal.
13 Meribbaal lived in Jerusalem, since he always ate at the king's table. He was crippled in both feet.	13 Però Merib-Baal risiedeva a Gerusalemme perché mangiava sempre alla mensa del re. Era storpio di tutti e due i piedi.
