NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 These are the last words of David: Thus speaks David son of Jesse, thus speaks the man raised toeminence, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the singer of the songs of Israel:	1 Estas son las últimas palabras de David: Oráculo de David, hijo de Jesé, oráculo del hombre elevado a lo alto, el ungido del Dios de Jacob y el cantor de los himnos de Israel.
2 The spirit of Yahweh speaks through me, his word is on my tongue;	2 El espíritu del Señor habla por mí y su palabra está en mi lengua;
3 the God of Jacob has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: He whose rule is upright on earth,who rules in the fear of God,	3 ha hablado el Dios de Jacob, la Roca de Israel me ha dicho: El que gobierna a los hombres con justicia, el que gobierna con temor de Dios
4 is like the morning light at sunrise (on a cloudless morning) making the grass of the earth sparkle afterrain.	4 es como la luz matinal al salir el sol, en una mañana sin nubes: con ese resplandor, después de la lluvia, brota la hierba de la tierra.
5 Yes, my House stands firm with God: he has made an eternal covenant with me, al in order, welassured; does he not bring to fruition my every victory and desire?	5 Sí, mi casa está firme junto a Dios, porque él estableció por mí una alianza eterna, bien estipulada y garantida. ¿Acaso él no hace germinar lo que me da la victoria y lo que cumple mis deseos?
6 But men of Belial he rejects like thorns, for these are never taken up in the hand:	6 En cuanto a los malvados, son todos como espinas que se tiran y no se las recoge con la mano:
7 no one touches them except with a pitchfork or spear-shaft, and then only to burn them to nothing!	7 el que las toca se arma de un hierro o del asta de una lanza. y allí mismo son consumidas por el fuego.
8 These are the names of David's champions: Ishbaal the Hachmonite leader of the Three; it was hewho brandished his spear over eight hundred men whom he had kil ed at one time.	8 Estos son los nombres de los Guerreros de David: Isbaal, el jacmonita, jefe de los Tres. El empuñó su lanza contra ochocientos hombres y los mató de una sola vez.
9 Next, there was Eleazar son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three champions. He was with David atPas-Dammim when the Philistines mustered for battle there and the men of Israel had disbanded.	9 Después de él, Eleazar, hijo de Dodó, el ajojita, uno de los Tres Valientes. Este estaba con David en Pas Damím, donde los filisteos se habían concentrado para el combate. Los hombres de Israel emprendieron la retirada,
10 But he stood his ground and cut down the Philistines until his hand was so stiff that he could not letgo of the sword. Yahweh brought about a great victory that day, and the people rallied behind him, although onlyto plunder.	10 pero él resistió e hirió a los filisteos, hasta que se le acalambró la mano y se le quedó pegada a la espada. Aquel día, el Señor alcanzó una gran victoria, y el pueblo se reagrupó detrás de Eleazar, pero sólo para recoger los despojos.
11 Next, there was Shamma son of Elah, the Hararite. The Philistines had mustered at Lehi. There wasa field ful of lentils there; the people fled from the Philistines,	11 Después de él, Samá, hijo de Agué, el jararita. Los filisteos se habían concentrado en Lejí. Allí había una parcela de campo toda sembrada de lentejas, y el ejército huyó delante de los filisteos.
12 but he took his stand in the middle of the field, held it, and cut down the Philistines; and Yahwehbrought about a great victory.	12 Pero él se apostó en medio del campo, lo defendió y derrotó a los filisteos. Así el Señor alcanzó una gran victoria.
13 Three members of the Thirty went down at the beginning of the harvest and came to David at theCave of Adullam while a company of Philistines was encamped in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	13 Tres de los Treinta bajaron juntos, durante el tiempo de la cosecha, y se unieron a David en la cueva de Adulam, mientras un destacamento de los filisteos acampaba en el valle de Refaím.
14 David was then in the stronghold, and there was a Philistine garrison in Bethlehem.	14 David se encontraba entonces en el refugio, y una guarnición filistea estaba en Belén.
15 Longingly David said, 'If only someone would fetch me a drink of water from the wel that stands bythe gate at Bethlehem!'	15 David manifestó este deseo: «¡Quién me diera de beber agua del pozo que está junto a la Puerta de Belén!».
16 At this, the three champions, forcing their way through the Philistine camp, drew water from the welthat stands by the gate of Bethlehem and, taking it away, presented it to David. He, however, would not drinkany of it, but poured it out as a libation to Yahweh.	16 Los Tres Valientes irrumpieron en el campamento filisteo, sacaron agua del pozo que está junto a la Puerta de Belén, la trajeron y se la presentaron a David. Pero él no quiso beberla y la derramó como libación al Señor,
17 'Yahweh preserve me', he said, 'from doing such a thing! This is the blood of men who went at risk oftheir lives.' That was why he would not drink. Such were the deeds of these three champions.	17 diciendo: «¡Líbreme el Señor de hacer tal cosa! ¡Es la sangre de estos hombres, que han ido allí exponiendo su vida!». Y no quiso beberla. Esto es lo que hicieron los Tres Valientes.
18 Abishai, brother of Joab and son of Zeruiah, was leader of the Thirty. It was he who brandished hisspear over three hundred men whom he had kil ed, winning himself a name among the Thirty.	18 Abisai, hermano de Joab, hijo de Seruiá, era jefe de los Treinta. El empuñó su lanza contra trescientos hombres y los mató, ganándose un renombre entre los Treinta.
19 He was a most il ustrious member of the Thirty and became their captain, but he was not equal to theThree.	19 Era el más famoso de ellos, y fue su jefe, pero no llegó a igualar a los Tres.
20 Benaiah of Kabzeel was the son of Jehoiada and hero of many exploits. He it was who slaughteredtwo formidable Moabites and, one snowy day, climbed down and slaughtered the lion in the storage-wel .	20 Benaías, hijo de Iehoiadá, era un hombre valiente, rico en hazañas, oriundo de Cabsel. The Egyptian was armed with a spear, but he tookhim on with a staff, tore the spear from the Egyptian's hand and kil ed the man with it.	21 También mató a un egipcio muy corpulento, que tenía en la mano una lanza. 22 Such were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, winning him a name among the thirty champions.	22 Esto es lo que hizo Benaías, hijo de Iehoiadá, y se ganó un renombre entre los Treinta Guerreros.
23 He was a most il ustrious member of the Thirty, but he was not equal to the Three. David put him incommand of his bodyguard.	23 Fue el más famoso de los Treinta, pero no llegó a igualar a los Tres. David lo incorporó a su guardia personal.
