1 Jacob cal ed his sons and said, 'Gather round, so that I can tell you what is in store for you in the final days.	1 Poi Giacobbe chiamò i suoi figli e disse loro: « Adunatevi, che vi annunzi le cose da succedervi nei giorni avvenire.
2 Gather round, sons of Jacob, and listen; listen to Israel your father.	2 Radunatevi e ascoltate, o figli di Giacobbe; ascoltate Israele vostro padre:
3 Reuben, you are my first-born, my vigour, and the first-fruit of my manhood, foremost in pride,foremost in strength,	3 Ruben, tu, mio primogenito, mia forza e principio del mio dolore, il primo nei doni, il più grande nella potenza;
4 uncontrol ed as water: you wil not be foremost, for you climbed into your father's bed, and so defiledmy couch, to my sorrow.	4 ti sei disperso come acqua e non sarai sopra gli altri; perchè salisti sul letto di tuo padre e profanasti il suo talamo.
5 Simeon and Levi are brothers in carrying out their malicious plans.	5 Simeone e Levi, fratelli, son bellicosi strumenti di iniquità.
6 May my soul not enter their council nor my heart join their company, for in their rage they have kil edmen and hamstrung oxen at their whim.	6 Non entri l'anima mia nei loro consigli! La mia gloria non s'unisca alle loro adunanze! Perchè nel loro furore uccisero l'uomo; e nel loro perverso volere atterraron la muraglia.
7 Accursed be their rage for its ruthlessness, their wrath for its ferocity. I shall disperse them in Jacob, Ishall scatter them through Israel.	7 Maledetto il loro furore, perchè fu violento, e la loro indignazione, perchè fu crudele: li spartirò in Giacobbe e li disperderò in Israele.
8 Judah, your brothers wil praise you: you grip your enemies by the neck, your father's sons wil do youhomage.	8 Giuda, te loderanno i tuoi fratelli: la tua mano sarà sulla cervice dei tuoi nemici; a te si prostreranno i figli di tuo padre.
9 Judah is a lion's whelp; You stand over your prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, amighty lion: who dare rouse him?	9 Un leoncello è Giuda: dalla preda, o figlio mio, sei tornato. Ecco ti posi, ti accovacci come un leone, come una leonessa: chi ardirà destarlo?
10 The sceptre shall not pass from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until tribute bebrought him and the peoples render him obedience.	10 Lo scettro non sarà tolto da Giuda e il principe dalla stirpe di lui, finché non venga colui che deve esser mandato, colui che sarà l'aspettazione delle genti.
11 He tethers his donkey to the vine, to its stock the foal of his she-donkey. He washes his clothes inwine, his robes in the blood of the grape.	11 Egli legherà il suo asinelio alla vigna, la sua asina, o figlio mio, alla vite, laverà la sua veste nel vino e il suo manto nel sangue dell'uva.
12 His eyes are darkened with wine and his teeth are white with milk.	12 I suoi occhi son più belli del vino, e i suoi denti più candidi del latte.
13 Zebulun wil live by the seashore and be a sailor on board the ships, with Sidon on his flank.	13 Zabulon abiterà sul lido del mare, all'approdo delle navi, e si stenderà fino a Sidone.
14 Issachar is a strong donkey lying down among sheepfolds.	14 Issacar è un asino robusto, che si sdraia dentro gli steccati.
15 When he saw how good the resting-place and how pleasant the country, he bowed his shoulder tothe load and became a slave to forced labour.	15 Avendo veduto che il riposo è buono e la sua terra è ottima, curva le spalle a portar pesi e divien soggetto al tributo.
16 Dan wil govern his people like any other of the tribes of Israel.	16 Dan giudicherà il suo popolo, come qualunque altra tribù d'Israele.
17 May Dan be a snake on the road, a viper on the path, who bites the horse on the hock so that itsrider falls off backwards!	17 Sarà Dan un serpente sulla strada, un ceraste sul sentiero, che morde l'unghie del cavallo, per far cadere indietro il cavaliere.
18 I long for your deliverance, Yahweh!	18 Il tuo Salvatore aspetterò, o Signore.
19 Gad wil be raided by raiders, and he wil raid at their heels.	19 Gad tutto armato combatterà dinanzi a lui e sarà cinto d'armi anche di dietro.
20 Rich the food produced by Asher: he will furnish food fit for kings.	20 Aser, pingue è il suo pane e fornirà delizie ai re.
21 Naphtali is a swift hind bearing lovely fawns.	21 Neftali, cervo sciolto e pronunzia parole graziose.
22 Joseph is a fruitful plant near a spring whose tendrils reach over the wal .	22 Giuseppe è un figlio che cresce, un figlio che cresce e bello d'aspetto: le fanciulle corsero sulle mura.
23 Archers in their hostility drew their bows and attacked him.	23 Ma lo amareggiarono, lo combatterono, lo invidiarono gli armati di frecce.
24 But their bows were broken by a mighty One, the sinews of their arms were snapped by the power ofthe Mighty One of Jacob, by the Name of the Stone of Israel,	24 Però il suo arco stette saldo, furono spezzate le catene delle sue braccia e delle sue mani in virtù dei tossente di Giacobbe. 25 the God of your father who assists you, El Shaddai who blesses you: blessings of heaven above,blessings of the deep lying below, blessings of the breasts and womb,	25 Il Dio del tuo padre sarà il tuo aiuto, e l'Onnipotente ti benedirà colle benedizioni del cielo di sopra, colle benedizioni dell'abisso che giace di sotto, colle benedizioni delle mammelle e del seno.
26 blessings of the grain and flowers, blessings of the eternal mountains, bounty of the everlasting hil s-- may they descend on Joseph's head, on the crown of the one dedicated from among his brothers!	26 Le benedizioni di tuo padre sorpassan le benedizioni dei padri di lui: finché non venga il desiderio dei colli eterni, posino sul capo di Giuseppe, sul capo di colui che è Nazàreo tra i suoi fratelli.
27 Benjamin is a ravening wolf, in the morning he devours the prey, in the evening he is still sharing outthe spoil.'	27 Beniamino, lupo rapace, la mattina divorerà la preda, e la sera spartirà le spoglie ».
28 Al these make up the tribes of Israel, twelve in number, and this is what their father said to them ashe bade them farewell, giving each an appropriate blessing.	28 Tutti questi sono i capi delle dodici tribù d'Israele, e cosi parlò ad essi il loro padre, quando li benedì, ciascuno in particolare, con speciali benedizioni.
29 Then he gave them these instructions, 'I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with myancestors, in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,	29 Poi dando loro i suoi ordini, disse: « Io vo a raggiungere il mio popolo: seppellitemi coi miei padri nella doppia caverna che è nel campo di Efron Eteo,
30 in the cave in the field at Machpelah, facing Mamre, in Canaan, which Abraham bought from Ephronthe Hittite as a burial site of his own.	30 di faccia a Mambre, nella terra di Canaan, e che Abramo comprò col campo dà Efron Eteo, come sepolcro di sua proprietà.
31 There Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried. There Isaac and his wife Rebekah were buried; andthere I buried Leah-	31 Là fu sepolto Abramo e Sara sua moglie; là fu sepolto Isacco con Rebecca sua moglie; là fu sepolta anche Lia ».
32 the field and the cave in it which were bought from the Hittites.'	32 Quando Giacobbe ebbe finito di dare questi ordini ai suoi figli, ritirò i suoi piedi nel letto, e spirò, e fu riunito a suo popolo.
33 When Jacob had finished giving his instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, andbreathing his last was gathered to his people.
