1 The heads of the Levite families came up to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua, son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the other tribes of the Israelites	1 E i principi delle famiglie di Levi andarono a trovar Eleazaro sommo sacerdote, e Giosuè figliuolo di Nun, e i capi delle famiglie di ogni tribù de' figliuoli d’Israele.
2 at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, and said to them, "The LORD commanded, through Moses, that cities be given us to dwell in, with pasture lands for our livestock."	2 E parlaron con essi in Silo nella terra di Canaan, e dissero: il Signore ordinò per mezzo di Mosè che fossero a noi assegnate delle città da abitare, co' loro sobborghi per nudrire il bestiame.
3 Out of their own heritage, in obedience to this command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites the following cities with their pasture lands.	3 E i figliuoli d'Israele dettero delle loro porzioni, secondo il comando del Signore, le città co' loro sobborghi.
4 When the first lot among the Levites fell to the clans of the Kohathites, the descendants of Aaron the priest obtained thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin.	4 Ed essendo uscita a sorte la famiglia di Caath, i figliuoli di Aronne sacerdote ebbero tredici città delle tribù di Giuda, e di Simeon, e di Beniamin:
5 The rest of the Kohathites obtained ten cities by lot from the clans of the tribe of Ephraim, from the tribe of Dan, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh.	5 E agli altri figliuoli di Caath, che rimanevano, cioè a dire a' Leviti furon date dieci città delle tribù di Ephraim e di Dan e di mezza la tribù di Manasse.
6 The Gershonites obtained thirteen cities by lot from the clans of the tribe of Issachar, from the tribe of Asher, from the tribe of Naphtali, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh.	6 Ai figliuoli di Gerson toccò in sorte di aver numero tredici città delle tribù d’Issachar, e di Aser, e di Nephtali e della mezza tribù di Manasse in Basan.
7 The clans of the Merarites obtained twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.	7 E a’ figliuoli di Merari distinti nelle loro famiglie, dodici città delle tribù di Ruben, e Gad, e Zabulon.
8 These cities with their pasture lands the Israelites allotted to the Levites in obedience to the LORD'S command through Moses.	8 E diedero i figliuoli d'Israele a' Leviti le città co' loro sobborghi, come avea comandato il Signore per mezzo di Mosè distribuendole loro a sorte.
9 From the tribes of the Judahites and Simeonites they designated the following cities,	9 E questi sono i nomi delle città prese da' figliuoli di Giuda, e di Simeon, e assegnate da Giosuè.
10 and assigned them to the descendants of Aaron in the Kohathite clan of the Levites, since the first lot fell to them:	10 I figliuoli di Aronne della famiglia di Caath, della stirpe di Levi (che furono i primi a uscir a sorte) ebbero

18 Anathoth with its pasture lands, and Almon with its pasture lands.	18 E Anathoth, e Almon co' suoi sobborghi: quattro città.
19 These cities which with their pasture lands belonged to the priestly descendants of Aaron, were thirteen in all.	19 Tutte insieme le città de' figliuoli di Aronne sommo sacerdote furon tredici, e loro sobborghi.
20 The rest of the Kohathite clans among the Levites obtained by lot, from the tribe of Ephraim, four cities.	20 Agli altri figliuoli di Caath della stirpe di Levi distinti nelle loro famiglie furono assegnate:

40 The cities which were allotted to the Merarite clans, the last of the Levites, were therefore twelve in all.	40 Co' loro sobborghi,e furono distribuite una per una secondo l’ordine delle famiglie.
41 Thus the total number of cities within the territory of the Israelites which, with their pasture lands, belonged to the Levites, was forty-eight.	41 E il Signore Dio diede ad Israele tutta la terra che avea promesso di dar loro col giuramento fattone a' loro padri: e la possedettero, e vi abitarono.

43 And so the LORD gave Israel all the land he had sworn to their fathers he would give them. Once they had conquered and occupied it,	43 Una sola delle parole che egli avea promesso di adempire non restò indietro; ma tutte furon verificate dall'evento.
44 the LORD gave them peace on every side, just as he had promised their fathers. Not one of their enemies could withstand them; the LORD brought all their enemies under their power.
45 Not a single promise that the LORD made to the house of Israel was broken; every one was fulfilled.
