1 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: grace to you and peace.	1 Paolo, Silvano e Timoteo alla chiesa dei Tessalonicesi, in Dio Padre e nel Signore Gesù Cristo, grazia a voi e pace.
2 We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers, unceasingly	2 Rendiamo grazie a Dio sempre per tutti voi, ricordandovi nelle nostre orazioni,
3 calling to mind your work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father,	3 avendo incessantemente presente, davanti a Dio e nostro Padre, l'opera della vostra fede, lo sforzo della vostra carità, la fermezza della vostra speranza, nel Signore nostro Gesù Cristo.
4 knowing, brothers loved by God, how you were chosen.	4 Conosciamo, o fratelli amati da Dio, la vostra elezione,
5 For our gospel did not come to you in word alone, but also in power and in the holy Spirit and (with) much conviction. You know what sort of people we were (among) you for your sake.	5 poiché il nostro vangelo non è giunto a voi soltanto a parole ma anche con potenza, con effusione dello Spirito Santo e con piena convinzione. Sapete infatti come ci siamo comportati in mezzo a voi per il vostro bene.
6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, receiving the word in great affliction, with joy from the holy Spirit,	6 E voi siete diventati imitatori nostri e del Signore, accogliendo la parola in mezzo a molta tribolazione con gioia di Spirito Santo,
7 so that you became a model for all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.	7 sì da divenire voi esempio a tutti i credenti in Macedonia e in Acaia.
8 For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth not only in Macedonia and (in) Achaia, but in every place your faith in God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything.	8 Da voi, infatti, la parola del Signore è risuonata non solo in Macedonia ed in Acaia, ma in ogni luogo si è diffusa la fama della vostra fede in Dio, tanto da non avere noi bisogno di parlare.
9 For they themselves openly declare about us what sort of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God	9 Gli stessi abitanti, infatti, raccontano di noi, quale accoglienza abbiamo avuto da voi e come vi siete convertiti a Dio dagli idoli, per servire il Dio vivo e vero,
10 and to await his Son from heaven, whom he raised from (the) dead, Jesus, who delivers us from the coming wrath.	10 e per aspettare dai cieli il suo Figlio, che egli risuscitò dai morti, Gesù, che ci libera dall'ira che viene.
