1 How can any one of you with a case against another dare to bring it to the unjust for judgment instead of to the holy ones?	1 Quando uno di voi ha una lite con un altro, osa domandare giustizia al tribunale degli ingiusti, invece che a quello dei santi?
2 Do you not know that the holy ones will judge the world? If the world is to be judged by you, are you unqualified for the lowest law courts?	2 Non sapete forse che i santi giudicheranno il mondo? È se da voi dev’essere giudicato il mondo, sareste indegni di pronunciarvi sopra cause di minima importanza?
3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? Then why not everyday matters?	3 Non sapete che giudicheremo gli angeli? Quanto più gli affari della vita ordinaria!
4 If, therefore, you have courts for everyday matters, do you seat as judges people of no standing in the church?	4 Qualora pertanto abbiate processi per cose ordinarie, prendete piuttosto a giudici quelli che nella Chiesa sono stimati ultimi.
5 I say this to shame you. Can it be that there is not one among you wise enough to be able to settle a case between brothers?	5 Lo dico a vostra confusione. Non vi sarebbe dunque in mezzo a voi nessun uomo saggio, che sia in grado di far da giudice tra fratello e fratello?
6 But rather brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers?	6 Invece si fa causa fratello contro fratello e, per di più, davanti agli infedeli!
7 Now indeed (then) it is, in any case, a failure on your part that you have lawsuits against one another. Why not rather put up with injustice? Why not rather let yourselves be cheated?	7 Ora, è già per voi in ogni modo un segno d’inferiorità che abbiate delle liti gli uni contro gli altri. Perché non soffrite piuttosto le ingiustizie? perché non vi lasciate piuttosto defraudare?
8 Instead, you inflict injustice and cheat, and this to brothers.	8 Ma voi le ingiustizie e le frodi le commettete e, per di più a danno dei fratelli!
9 Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites	9 O non sapete che gli ingiusti non entreranno in possesso del regno di Dio? Non illudetevi! né gli impudichi, né gli idolatri, né gli adulteri, né gli effeminati, né i sodomiti,
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.	10 né i ladri, né i cupidi, né gli ubriaconi, né gli ingiuriatori, né i rapinatori avranno l’eredità del regno di Dio.
11 That is what some of you used to be; but now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.	11 Appunto questo eravate, alcuni di voi! Ma vi mondaste; ma foste santificati; ma foste giustificati nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo e dallo Spirito del nostro Dio.
12 "Everything is lawful for me," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is lawful for me," but I will not let myself be dominated by anything.	12 «Tutto mi è permesso!» Sì, ma non tutto è conveniente. «Tutto mi è permesso!» Sì, ma io non mi farò schiavo di nessuna cosa.
13 "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food," but God will do away with both the one and the other. The body, however, is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body;	13 «I cibi sono per il ventre e il ventre per i cibi!» Sì, ma Iddio distruggerà e quello e questi. E il corpo non è per la impudicizia, ma è per il Signore e il Signore per il corpo.
14 God raised the Lord and will also raise us by his power.	14 Dio, come ha risuscitato il Signore, farà risorgere anche noi con la sua potenza.
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take Christ's members and make them the members of a prostitute? Of course not!	15 Non sapete che i vostri corpi sono membra di Cristo? Oserò prendere, allora, le membra del Cristo, per farne le membra di una prostituta? Non sia mai!
16 (Or) do you not know that anyone who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For "the two," it says, "will become one flesh."	16 Non sapete infatti che chi si unisce ad una prostituta è con essa un solo corpo? Dice infatti la Scrittura: Saranno quei due una carne sola.
17 But whoever is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.	17 Al contrario, chi si unisce al Signore forma con lui un solo spirito.
18 Avoid immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the immoral person sins against his own body.	18 Fuggite l’impudicizia! Ogni altro peccato che possa commettere un uomo è fuori del suo corpo. Il dissoluto in vece pecca contro il proprio corpo.
19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?	19 E non sapete che il vostro corpo è tempio dello Spirito Santo, che è in voi per averlo ricevuto al Dio, e che non appartenete più a voi stessi?
20 For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.	20 Foste infatti ricomprati a un alto prezzo! Glorificate dunque Dio nel vostro corpo.
