Now Peter and John were going up to the temple area for the three o'clock hour of prayer.1 Now Peter and John went up into the temple at the ninth hour of prayer.
And a man crippled from birth was carried and placed at the gate of the temple called "the Beautiful Gate" every day to beg for alms from the people who entered the temple.2 And a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb, was carried: whom they laid every day at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, that he might ask alms of them that went into the temple.
When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked for alms.3 He, when he had seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms.
But Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us."4 But Peter with John fastening his eyes upon him, said: Look upon us.
He paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them.5 But he looked earnestly upon them, hoping that he should receive something of them.
Peter said, "I have neither silver nor gold, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazorean, (rise and) walk."6 But Peter said: Silver and gold I have none; but what I have, I give thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, arise, and walk.
Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong.7 And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and forthwith his feet and soles received strength.
He leaped up, stood, and walked around, and went into the temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God.8 And he leaping up, stood, and walked, and went in with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
When all the people saw him walking and praising God,9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
they recognized him as the one who used to sit begging at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, and they were filled with amazement and astonishment at what had happened to him.10 And they knew him, that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beartiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him.
As he clung to Peter and John, all the people hurried in amazement toward them in the portico called "Solomon's Portico."11 And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran to them to the porch which is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
When Peter saw this, he addressed the people, "You Israelites, why are you amazed at this, and why do you look so intently at us as if we had made him walk by our own power or piety?12 But Peter seeing, made answer to the people: Ye men of Israel, why wonder you at this? or why look you upon us, as if by our strength or power we had made this man to walk?
The God of Abraham, (the God) of Isaac, and (the God) of Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant Jesus whom you handed over and denied in Pilate's presence, when he had decided to release him.13 The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus, whom you indeed delivered up and denied before the face of Pilate, when he judged he should be released.
You denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you.14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you.
The author of life you put to death, but God raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses.15 But the author of life you killed, whom God hath raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.
And by faith in his name, this man, whom you see and know, his name has made strong, and the faith that comes through it has given him this perfect health, in the presence of all of you.16 And in the faith of his name, this man, whom you have seen and known, hath his name strengthened; and the faith which is by him, hath given this perfect soundness in the sight of you all.
Now I know, brothers, that you acted out of ignorance, just as your leaders did;17 And now, brethren, I know that you did it through ignorance, as did also your rulers.
but God has thus brought to fulfillment what he had announced beforehand through the mouth of all the prophets, that his Messiah would suffer.18 But those things which God before had shewed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away,19 Be penitent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.
and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Messiah already appointed for you, Jesus,20 That when the times of refreshment shall come from the presence of the Lord, and he shall send him who hath been preached unto you, Jesus Christ,
whom heaven must receive until the times of universal restoration of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old.21 Whom heaven indeed must receive, until the times of the restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of his holy prophets, from the beginning of the world.
For Moses said: 'A prophet like me will the Lord, your God, raise up for you from among your own kinsmen; to him you shall listen in all that he may say to you.22 For Moses said: A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me: him you shall hear according to all things whatsoever he shall speak to you.
Everyone who does not listen to that prophet will be cut off from the people.'23 And it shall be, that every soul which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Moreover, all the prophets who spoke, from Samuel and those afterwards, also announced these days.24 And all the prophets, from Samuel and afterwards, who have spoken, have told of these days.
You are the children of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors when he said to Abraham, 'In your offspring all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'25 You are the children of the prophets, and of the testament which God made to our fathers, saying to Abraham: And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
For you first, God raised up his servant and sent him to bless you by turning each of you from your evil ways."26 To you first God, raising up his Son, hath sent him to bless you; that every one may convert himself from his wickedness.
