Deuteronomy 27

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Then Moses, with the elders of Israel, gave the people this order: "Keep all these commandments which I enjoin on you today.	1 Moisés y los ancianos de Israel dieron esta orden al pueblo: Observa integramente el mandamiento que hoy les prescribo.
2 On the day you cross the Jordan into the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.	2 El día en que crucen el Jordán para ir a la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te da, erigirás unas piedras, bien grandes, las blanquearás con cal,
3 Also write on them, at the time you cross, all the words of this law, that you may thus enter into the land flowing with milk and honey, which the LORD, your God, and the God of your fathers, is giving you as he promised you.	3 y escribirás en ellas todas las palabras de esta Ley. Harás esto cuando cruces el Jordán para entrar en el país que te da el Señor, tu Dios –esa tierra que mana leche y miel– como el Señor, el Dios de tus padres te lo ha prometido.
4 When, moreover, you have crossed the Jordan, besides setting up on Mount Ebal these stones concerning which I command you today, and coating them with plaster,	4 Después de cruzar el Jordán, pondrán esas piedras en el monte Ebal, según instrucciones que hoy les doy, y las blanquearán con cal.
5 you shall also build to the LORD, your God, an altar made of stones that no iron tool has touched.	5 Allí erguirás también un altar de piedra en honor del Señor, tu Dios. No usarás ningún instrumento de hierro para trabajar las piedras,
6 You shall make this altar of the LORD, your God, with undressed stones, and shall offer on it holocausts to the LORD, your God.	6 porque el altar del Señor deberá estar construido con piedras intactas. Ofrecerás en él holocaustos al Señor, tu Dios,
7 You shall also sacrifice peace offerings and eat them there, making merry before the LORD, your God.	7 e inmolarás sacrificios de comunión. Allí comerás y te alegrarás en la presencia del Señor, tu Dios,
8 On the stones you shall inscribe all the words of this law very clearly."	8 y escribirás en las piedras, con rasgos bien claros, todas las palabras de esta Ley.
9 Moses, with the levitical priests, then said to all Israel: "Be silent, O Israel, and listen! This day you have become the people of the LORD, your God.	9 Después, Moisés y los sacerdotes levitas se dirigieron a todo Israel en estos términos: «Calla, Israel, y escucha. Hoy te has convertido en el pueblo del Señor, tu Dios.
10 You shall therefore hearken to the voice of the LORD, your God, and keep his commandments and statutes which I enjoin on you today."	10 Escucha la voz del Señor, tu Dios, y practica los mandamientos y las leyes que hoy te prescribo».
11 That same day Moses gave the people this order:	11 Aquel día, Moisés dio esta orden al pueblo:
12 "When you cross the Jordan, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph and Benjamin shall stand on Mount Gerizim to pronounce blessings over the people,	12 Después de cruzar el Jordán, las tribus de Simeón, Leví y Judá, Isacar, José y Benjamín, estarán en el monte Garizim, para proclamar la bendición al pueblo;
13 while Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan and Naphtali shall stand on Mount Ebal to pronounce curses.	13 y las tribus de Rubén, Gad y Aser, Zabulón, Dan y Neftalí estarán en el monte Ebal, para proclamar la maldición.
14 "The Levites shall proclaim aloud to all the men of Israel:	14 Los levitas tomarán la palabra y dirán en alta voz a todos los hombres de Israel:
15 'Cursed be the man who makes a carved or molten idol--an abomination to the LORD, the product of a craftsman's hands--and sets it up in secret!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	15 Maldito sea el hombre que hace un ídolo tallado o de metal fundido –abominación para el Señor, obra de un artesano– y lo guarda en un lugar oculto. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
16 'Cursed be he who dishonors his father or his mother!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	16 Maldito sea el que menosprecia a su padre o a su madre. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
17 'Cursed be he who moves his neighbor's landmarks!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	17 Maldito sea el que desplaza los límites de la propiedad de su vecino. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
18 'Cursed be he who misleads a blind man on his way!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	18 Maldito sea el que aparta a un ciego del camino. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
19 'Cursed be he who violates the rights of the alien, the orphan or the widow!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	19 Maldito sea el que conculca el derecho del extranjero, del huérfano o de la viuda. Y todo el pueblo responderá. Amén.
20 'Cursed be he who has relations with his father's wife, for he dishonors his father's bed!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	20 Maldito sea el que se acuesta con la mujer de su padre, porque de esa manera descubre el borde de la manta de su padre. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
21 'Cursed be he who has relations with any animal!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	21 Maldito sea el que se acuesta con un animal. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
22 'Cursed be he who has relations with his sister or his half-sister!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	22 Maldito sea el que se acuesta con su hermana, la hija de su padre o de su madre. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén. Maldito sea el que se acuesta con su suegra. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
23 'Cursed be he who has relations with his mother-in-law!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	23 Maldito sea el que mata ocultamente a su prójimo. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
24 'Cursed be he who slays his neighbor in secret!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	24 Maldito sea el que mata ocultamente a su prójimo. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
25 'Cursed be he who accepts payment for slaying an innocent man!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	25 Maldito sea el que se deja sobornar para quitar la vida a un inocente: Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
26 'Cursed be he who fails to fulfill any of the provisions of this law!' And all the people shall answer, 'Amen!'	26 Maldito sea el que no respeta ni cumple las palabras de esta Ley. Y todo el pueblo responderá: Amén.
