1 The word of the LORD which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah.	1 Parole de Yahvé qui fut adressée à Sophonie, fils de Kouchi, fils de Guédalyas, fils d’Amarya, fils de Hizkiyas, au temps de Josias, fils d’Ammon, roi de Juda.
2 I will completely sweep away all things from the face of the earth, says the LORD.	2 J’enlèverai tout de dessus la terre - parole de Yahvé.
3 I will sweep away man and beast, I will sweep away the birds of the sky, and the fishes of the sea. I will overthrow the wicked; I will destroy mankind from the face of the earth, says the LORD.	3 J’enlèverai hommes et bêtes, j’enlèverai les oiseaux du ciel et les poissons de la mer. J’exterminerai l’homme de dessus la terre - parole de Yahvé.
4 I will stretch out my hand against Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; I will destroy from this place the last vestige of Baal, the very names of his priests.	4 J’étendrai la main contre Juda et tous les habitants de Jérusalem, j’enlèverai de ce lieu ce qui reste du Baal et le nom des prêtres païens.
5 And those who adore the host of heaven on the roofs, with those who adore the LORD but swear by Milcom;	5 J’exterminerai ceux qui se prosternent sur les toits devant l’armée des cieux, ceux qui se prosternent et qui jurent en même temps par Yahvé et par Milkom;
6 And those who have fallen away from the LORD, and those who do not seek the LORD.	6 ceux qui se détournent de Yahvé, qui ne le recherchent pas et ne le consultent pas.
7 Silence in the presence of the Lord GOD! for near is the day of the LORD, Yes, the LORD has prepared a slaughter feast, he has consecrated his guests.	7 Faites silence devant le Seigneur Yahvé, car son jour est proche. Yahvé a préparé un sacrifice, il a déjà consacré ses invités.
8 On the day of the LORD'S slaughter feast I will punish the princes, and the king's sons, and all that dress in foreign apparel.	8 Voici ce qui arrivera au jour du sacrifice de Yahvé: je demanderai des comptes aux princes, aux fils de roi et à tous ceux qui s’habillent à la mode étrangère.

17 I will hem men in till they walk like the blind, because they have sinned against the LORD; And their blood shall be poured out like dust, and their brains like dung.	17 Je mettrai les hommes dans l’angoisse, je les ferai marcher en aveugles, car ils ont péché contre Yahvé. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to save them on the day of the LORD'S wrath, When in the fire of his jealousy all the earth shall be consumed. For he shall make an end, yes, a sudden end, of all who live on the earth.	18 Ni leur argent ni leur or ne pourront les sauver au jour de la fureur de Yahvé. Toute la terre sera dévorée par le feu de sa jalousie; sur tous les habitants de la terre viendra la fin, la destruction soudaine.
