The LORD said to Moses:1 The LORD said to Moses,
"Make two trumpets of beaten silver, which you shall use in assembling the community and in breaking camp.2 "Make two silver trumpets; of hammered work you shall make them; and you shall use them for summoning the congregation, and for breaking camp.
When both are blown, the whole community shall gather round you at the entrance of the meeting tent;3 And when both are blown, all the congregation shall gather themselves to you at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
but when one of them is blown, only the princes, the chiefs of the troops of Israel, shall gather round you.4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the tribes of Israel, shall gather themselves to you.
When you sound the first alarm, those encamped on the east side shall set out;5 When you blow an alarm, the camps that are on the east side shall set out.
when you sound the second alarm, those encamped on the south side shall set out; when you sound the third alarm, those encamped on the west side shall set out; when you sound the fourth alarm, those encamped on the north side shall set out. Thus shall the alarm be sounded for them to depart.6 And when you blow an alarm the second time, the camps that are on the south side shall set out. An alarm is to be blown whenever they are to set out.
But in calling forth an assembly you are to blow an ordinary blast, without sounding the alarm.7 But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but you shall not sound an alarm.
"It is the sons of Aaron, the priests, who shall blow the trumpets; and the use of them is prescribed by perpetual statute for you and your descendants.8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets. The trumpets shall be to you for a perpetual statute throughout your generations.
When in your own land you go to war against an enemy that is attacking you, you shall sound the alarm on the trumpets, and the LORD, your God, will remember you and save you from your foes.9 And when you go to war in your land against the adversary who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, that you may be remembered before the LORD your God, and you shall be saved from your enemies.
On your days of celebration, your festivals, and your new-moon feasts, you shall blow the trumpets over your holocausts and your peace offerings; this will serve as a reminder of you before your God. I, the LORD, am your God."10 On the day of your gladness also, and at your appointed feasts, and at the beginnings of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; they shall serve you for remembrance before your God: I am the LORD your God."
In the second year, on the twentieth day of the second month, the cloud rose from the Dwelling of the commandments.11 In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the testimony,

Moses said to his brother-in-law Hobab, son of Reuel the Midianite, "We are setting out for the place which the LORD has promised to give us. Come with us, and we will be generous toward you, for the LORD has promised prosperity to Israel."29 And Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, "We are setting out for the place of which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you'; come with us, and we will do you good; for the LORD has promised good to Israel."
But he answered, "No, I will not come. I am going instead to my own country and to my own kindred."30 But he said to him, "I will not go; I will depart to my own land and to my kindred."
Moses said, "Please, do not leave us; you know where we can camp in the desert, and you will serve as eyes for us.31 And he said, "Do not leave us, I pray you, for you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you will serve as eyes for us.
If you come with us, we will share with you the prosperity the LORD will bestow on us."32 And if you go with us, whatever good the LORD will do to us, the same will we do to you."
They moved on from the mountain of the LORD, a three days' journey, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD which was to seek out their resting place went the three days' journey with them.33 So they set out from the mount of the LORD three days' journey; and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them three days' journey, to seek out a resting place for them.

And when it came to rest, he would say, "Return, O LORD, you who ride upon the clouds, to the troops of Israel."36 And when it rested, he said, "Return, O LORD, to the ten thousand thousands of Israel."
