1 The LORD said to Moses:	1 Jahvè parlò a Mosè:
2 "Make two trumpets of beaten silver, which you shall use in assembling the community and in breaking camp.	2 «Fa’ due trombe d’argento: le farai di metallo battuto. Ti serviranno per convocare la comunità e per dare l’ordine di partenza agli accampamenti.
3 When both are blown, the whole community shall gather round you at the entrance of the meeting tent;	3 Quando le suonano tutte e due, tutta la comunità si radunerà presso di te all’ingresso della Tenda del convegno.
4 but when one of them is blown, only the princes, the chiefs of the troops of Israel, shall gather round you.	4 Quando ne suonano una sola, si raduneranno presso di te i principi, capi di mille di Israele.
5 When you sound the first alarm, those encamped on the east side shall set out;	5 Quando suonerete la terua, leveranno l’accampamento coloro che sono accampati a est.
6 when you sound the second alarm, those encamped on the south side shall set out; when you sound the third alarm, those encamped on the west side shall set out; when you sound the fourth alarm, those encamped on the north side shall set out. Thus shall the alarm be sounded for them to depart.	6 Quando suonerete la terua per la seconda volta, leveranno l’accampamento coloro che sono accampati a sud. Quando suoneranno la terua è per dare a loro l’ordine di partire.
7 But in calling forth an assembly you are to blow an ordinary blast, without sounding the alarm.	7 Ma, per adunare l’assemblea, suonerete, ma non la terua.
8 "It is the sons of Aaron, the priests, who shall blow the trumpets; and the use of them is prescribed by perpetual statute for you and your descendants.	8 I figli di Aronne, i sacerdoti, suoneranno le trombe: sarà per voi uno statuto perpetuo per tutte le vostre generazioni.
9 When in your own land you go to war against an enemy that is attacking you, you shall sound the alarm on the trumpets, and the LORD, your God, will remember you and save you from your foes.	9 Quando, nella vostra terra, uscirete in campo contro un avversario che vi opprime, suonerete le trombe. Così sarete ricordati al cospetto di Jahvè vostro Dio e sarete salvati dai vostri nemici.
10 On your days of celebration, your festivals, and your new-moon feasts, you shall blow the trumpets over your holocausts and your peace offerings; this will serve as a reminder of you before your God. I, the LORD, am your God."	10 Nei vostri giorni di festa, nelle solennità fisse e nei noviluni, con il suono delle trombe accompagnerete i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifici pacifici: esse vi ricorderanno al cospetto del vostro Dio. Io sono Jahvè vostro Dio».
11 In the second year, on the twentieth day of the second month, the cloud rose from the Dwelling of the commandments.	11 Nel secondo anno, nel secondo mese, il venti del mese, la nube si alzò alla Dimora della Testimonianza,
12 The Israelites moved on from the desert of Sinai by stages, until the cloud came to rest in the desert of Paran.	12 e i figli di Israele, con successivi spostamenti, levarono le tende dal deserto del Sinai. La nube si fermò nel deserto di Paran,
13 The first time that they broke camp at the bidding of the LORD through Moses,	13 Levarono così le tende per la prima volta al comando di Jahvè, trasmesso per mezzo di Mosè.
14 the camp of the Judahites, under its own standard and arranged in companies, was the first to set out. Nahshon, son of Amminadab, was over their host,	14 Per prima partì l’insegna dell’accampamento dei figli di Giuda, divisa in schiere. A capo della schiera della tribù di Giuda c’era Nakhshon figlio di Amminadab.
15 and Nethanel, son of Zuar, over the host of the tribe of Issachar,	15 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Issachar c’era Netaneel figlio di Zuar.
16 and Eliab, son of Helon, over the host of the tribe of Zebulun.	16 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Zabulon c’era Eliab figlio di Khelon.
17 Then, after the Dwelling was dismantled, the clans of Gershon and Merari set out, carrying the Dwelling.	17 Poi fu smontata la Dimora e levarono le tende i figli di Ghershon e i figli di Merari che portavano la Dimora.
18 The camp of the Reubenites, under its own standard and arranged in companies, was the next to set out, with Elizur, son of Shedeur, over their host,	18 Partì l’insegna dell’accampamento dei figli di Ruben, divisa in schiere. A capo della schiera della tribù di Ruben c’era Elizur figlio di Shedeur.
19 and Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai, over the host of the tribe of Simeon,	19 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Simeone c’era Shelumiel figlio di Zurishaddai.
20 and Eliasaph, son of Reuel, over the host of the tribe of Gad.	20 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Gad c’era Eliasaf figlio di Deuel.
21 The clan of Kohath then set out, carrying the sacred objects for the Dwelling, which was to be erected before their arrival.	21 Poi levarono le tende i Kehatiti, che portavano il santuario: così, al loro arrivo, i Ghershoniti e i Merariti avevano già eretto la Dimora.
22 The camp of the Ephraimites next set out, under its own standard and arranged in companies, with Elishama, son of Ammihud, over their host,	22 Partì l’insegna dell’accampamento dei figli di Efraim, divisa in schiere. A capo della schiera della tribù di Efraim c’era Elishama figlio di Ammihud.
23 and Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, over the host of the tribe of Manasseh,	23 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Manasse c’era Gamliel figlio di Pedazur.
24 and Abidan, son of Gideoni, over the host of the tribe of Benjamin.	24 A capo della schiera della tribù di Beniamin c’era Abidan figlio di Ghidoni.
25 Finally, as rear guard for all the camps, the camp of the Danites set out, under its own standard and arranged in companies, with Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai, over their host,	25 Partì l’insegna della tribù dei figli di Dan, come retroguardia di tutti gli accampamenti, divisa in schiere. A capo della tribù di Dan c’era Akhiezer figlio di Ammishaddai.
26 and Pagiel, son of Ochran, over the host of the tribe of Asher,	26 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Asher c’era Paghiel figlio di Ochran.
27 and Ahira, son of Enan, over the host of the tribe of Naphtali.	27 A capo della schiera della tribù dei figli di Neftali C’era Akhira figlio di Enan.
28 This was the order of departure for the Israelites, company by company. As they were setting out,	28 Questo era l’ordine di marcia dei figli di Isracle divisi in schiere. Ed essi levarono le tende.
29 Moses said to his brother-in-law Hobab, son of Reuel the Midianite, "We are setting out for the place which the LORD has promised to give us. Come with us, and we will be generous toward you, for the LORD has promised prosperity to Israel."	29 Mosè disse a Khobab figlio di Raguel, il Madianita, suocero di Mosè: «Noi stiamo partendo verso la località di cui Jahvè ha detto: «La darò a voi”. Vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene. Jahvè ha promesso infatti prosperità a Israele».
30 But he answered, "No, I will not come. I am going instead to my own country and to my own kindred."	30 Egli rispose: «Non verrò, ma ritornerò alla mia terra e alla mia parentela».
31 Moses said, "Please, do not leave us; you know where we can camp in the desert, and you will serve as eyes for us.	31 «Non abbandonarci» soggiunse Mosè «poiché tu, che conosci i luoghi dove dobbiamo accamparci nel deserto, sarai i nostri occhi.
32 If you come with us, we will share with you the prosperity the LORD will bestow on us."	32 Se vieni con noi, ti faremo partecipe della stessa prosperità che Jahvè ci elargirà».
33 They moved on from the mountain of the LORD, a three days' journey, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD which was to seek out their resting place went the three days' journey with them.	33 Essi partirono dal monte di Jahvè e fecero tre giorni di cammino; l’arca dell’alleanza di Jahvè li precedeva per cercare loro un luogo dove sostare.
34 And when they set out from camp, the cloud of the LORD was over them by day.	34 Da quando levarono l’accampamento, la nube di Jahvè durante il giorno era sopra di loro.
35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses would say, "Arise, O LORD, that your enemies may be scattered, and those who hate you may flee before you."	35 Quando l’arca partiva Mosè diceva: «Sorgi, Jahvè! Si disperdano i tuoi nemici! Innanzi a te fuggano coloro che ti odiano!»
36 And when it came to rest, he would say, "Return, O LORD, you who ride upon the clouds, to the troops of Israel."	36 Quando si fermava, diceva: «Ritorna Jahvè verso l’immensa moltitudine di Israele!»
