Ezekiel 36

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 As for you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel: Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD!	1 Et toi, fils d'homme, adresse une prophétie aux montagnes d'Israël. Tu diras: Montagnes d'Israël,écoutez la parole de Yahvé.
2 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because the enemy has said of you, "Ha! the everlasting heights have become our possession"	2 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Parce que l'ennemi a prononcé contre vous ces paroles: "Ha! Ha!Ces hauteurs éternelles sont devenus notre patrimoine",
3 (therefore prophesy in these words: Thus says the Lord GOD:); because you have been ridiculed and despised on all sides for having become a possession for the rest of the nations, and have become a byword and a popular jeer;	3 eh bien! prophétise. Tu diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Parce qu'on vous a dévastées etprises de toute part, si bien que vous êtes devenues la propriété du reste des nations, prétexte au bavardage et aucommérage des gens,
4 therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD: (Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, the desolate ruins and abandoned cities, which have been given over to the pillage and mockery of the remaining nations round about;	4 eh bien! montagnes d'Israël, écoutez la parole du Seigneur Yahvé. Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvéaux montagnes, aux collines, aux ravins et aux vallées, aux ruines dévastées et aux villes abandonnées qui sontmises au pillage et deviennent la risée du reste des nations d'alentour.
5 therefore thus says the Lord GOD:) Truly, with burning jealousy I speak against the rest of the nations (and against all of Edom) who with wholehearted joy and utter contempt have considered my land their possession to be delivered over to plunder.	5 Eh bien! ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Je le jure dans l'ardeur de ma jalousie, je m'adresse aureste des nations, à Edom tout entier, qui, la joie au coeur et le mépris dans l'âme, se sont attribué mon pays enpropriété pour mettre son pâturage au pillage.
6 (Therefore, prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys: Thus says the Lord GOD:) With jealous fury I speak, because you have borne the reproach of the nations.	6 A cause de cela, prophétise au sujet de la terre d'Israël. Tu diras aux montagnes et aux collines,aux ravins et aux vallées: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Voici que je parle dans ma jalousie et ma fureur:puisque vous subissez l'insulte des nations,
7 Therefore do I solemnly swear that your neighboring nations shall bear their own reproach.	7 eh bien! ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: je lève la main, je le jure, les nations qui vous entourentsubiront elles-mêmes leur insulte.
8 As for you, mountains of Israel, you shall grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel, for they shall soon return.	8 Et vous, montagnes d'Israël, vous allez donner vos branches et porter vos fruits pour mon peupleIsraël, car il est près de revenir.
9 See, I come to you, it is to you that I turn; you will be tilled and sown,	9 Me voici, je viens vers vous, je me tourne vers vous, vous allez être cultivées et ensemencées.
10 and I will settle crowds of men upon you, the whole house of Israel; cities shall be repeopled, and ruins rebuilt.	10 Je vais multiplier sur vous les hommes, la maison d'Israël tout entière. Les villes seront habitéeset les ruines rebâties.
11 I will settle crowds of men and beasts upon you, to multiply and be fruitful. I will repeople you as in the past, and be more generous to you than in the beginning; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.	11 Je multiplierai sur vous hommes et bêtes, ils seront nombreux et féconds. Je ferai que vous serezhabitées comme auparavant, je vous ferai plus de bien qu'autrefois et vous saurez que je suis Yahvé.
12 (My people Israel are the ones whom I will have walk upon you; they shall take possession of you, and you shall be their heritage. Never again shall you rob them of their children.)	12 Je ferai fouler votre sol par des hommes, mon peuple Israël; tu seras sa propriété et son héritageet tu ne les priveras plus de leurs enfants.
13 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because they have said of you, "You are a land that devours men, and you rob your people of their children";	13 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Parce qu'on a dit de toi: "Tu es une mangeuse d'hommes, tu asprivé ta nation de ses enfants",
14 therefore, never again shall you devour men or rob your people of their children, says the Lord GOD.	14 eh bien! tu ne dévoreras plus d'hommes, tu ne priveras plus ta nation de ses enfants, oracle duSeigneur Yahvé.
15 No more will I permit you to hear the reproach of nations, or bear insults from peoples, or rob your people of their children, says the Lord GOD.	15 Je ne te ferai plus entendre l'insulte des nations, tu n'auras plus à subir la raillerie des peuples, tune priveras plus ta nation de ses enfants. Oracle du Seigneur Yahvé.
16 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	16 La parole de Yahvé me fut adressée en ces termes:
17 Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it by their conduct and deeds. In my sight their conduct was like the defilement of a menstruous woman.	17 Fils d'homme, les gens de la maison d'Israël habitaient sur leur territoire, et ils l'ont souillé parleur conduite et par leurs oeuvres; comme la souillure d'une femme impure, telle fut leur conduite devant moi.
18 Therefore I poured out my fury upon them (because of the blood which they poured out on the ground, and because they defiled it with idols).	18 Alors j'ai déversé ma fureur sur eux, à cause du sang qu'ils ont versé dans le pays et des orduresdont ils l'ont souillé.
19 I scattered them among the nations, dispersing them over foreign lands; according to their conduct and deeds I judged them.	19 Je les ai disséminés parmi les nations et ils ont été dispersés dans les pays étrangers. Je les aijugés selon leur conduite et selon leurs oeuvres.
20 But when they came among the nations (wherever they came), they served to profane my holy name, because it was said of them: "These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave their land."	20 Et parmi les nations où ils sont venus, ils ont profané mon saint nom, faisant dire à leur sujet:"C'est le peuple de Yahvé, ils sont sortis de son pays."
21 So I have relented because of my holy name which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they came.	21 Mais j'ai eu égard à mon saint nom que la maison d'Israël a profané parmi les nations où elle estvenue.
22 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Not for your sakes do I act, house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you profaned among the nations to which you came.	22 Eh bien! dis à la maison d'Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé. Ce n'est pas à cause de vous quej'agis de la sorte, maison d'Israël, mais c'est pour mon saint nom, que vous avez profané parmi les nations oùvous êtes venus.
23 I will prove the holiness of my great name, profaned among the nations, in whose midst you have profaned it. Thus the nations shall know that I am the LORD, says the Lord GOD, when in their sight I prove my holiness through you.	23 Je sanctifierai mon grand nom qui a été profané parmi les nations au milieu desquelles vousl'avez profané. Et les nations sauront que je suis Yahvé - oracle du Seigneur Yahvé - quand je ferai éclater masainteté, à votre sujet, sous leurs yeux.
24 For I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the foreign lands, and bring you back to your own land.	24 Alors je vous prendrai parmi les nations, je vous rassemblerai de tous les pays étrangers et jevous ramènerai vers votre sol.
25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.	25 Je répandrai sur vous une eau pure et vous serez purifiés; de toutes vos souillures et de toutesvos ordures je vous purifierai.
26 I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts.	26 Et je vous donnerai un coeur nouveau, je mettrai en vous un esprit nouveau, j'ôterai de votrechair le coeur de pierre et je vous donnerai un coeur de chair.
27 I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees.	27 Je mettrai mon esprit en vous et je ferai que vous marchiez selon mes lois et que vous observiezet pratiquiez mes coutumes.
28 You shall live in the land I gave your fathers; you shall be my people, and I will be your God.	28 Vous habiterez le pays que j'ai donné à vos pères. Vous serez mon peuple et moi je serai votreDieu.
29 I will save you from all your impurities; I will order the grain to be abundant, and I will not send famine against you.	29 Je vous sauverai de toutes vos souillures. J'appellerai le blé et le multiplierai, et je ne vousimposerai plus de famine.
30 I will increase the fruit on your trees and the crops in your fields; thus you shall no longer bear among the nations the reproach of famine.	30 Je multiplierai les fruits des arbres et les produits des champs, afin que vous ne subissiez plusl'opprobre de la famine parmi les nations.
31 Then you shall remember your evil conduct, and that your deeds were not good; you shall loathe yourselves for your sins and your abominations.	31 Alors vous vous souviendrez de votre mauvaise conduite et de vos actions qui n'étaient pasbonnes. Vous vous prendrez vous-mêmes en dégoût à cause de vos fautes et de vos abominations.
32 Not for your sakes do I act, says the Lord GOD--let this be known to you! Be ashamed and abashed because of your conduct, O house of Israel.	32 Ce n'est pas à cause de vous que j'agis - oracle du Seigneur Yahvé - sachez-le bien. Ayez honteet rougissez de votre conduite, maison d'Israël.
33 Thus says the Lord GOD: When I purify you from all your crimes, I will repeople the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt;	33 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: Au jour où je vous purifierai de toutes vos fautes, je ferai que lesvilles soient habitées et les ruines rebâties;
34 the desolate land shall be tilled, which was formerly a wasteland exposed to the gaze of every passer-by.	34 la terre dévastée sera cultivée, après avoir été dévastée, aux yeux de tous les passants.
35 "This desolate land has been made into a garden of Eden," they shall say. "The cities that were in ruins, laid waste, and destroyed are now repeopled and fortified."	35 Et l'on dira: "Cette terre, naguère dévastée, est comme un jardin d'Eden, et les villes en ruines,dévastées et démolies, on en a fait des forteresses habitées"
36 Thus the neighboring nations that remain shall know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed and replanted what was desolate. I, the LORD, have promised, and I will do it.	36 Et les nations qui survivront autour de vous sauront que c'est moi, Yahvé, qui ai rebâti ce quiétait démoli et qui ai replanté ce qui était dévasté. Moi, Yahvé, j'ai dit et je fais.
37 Thus says the Lord GOD: This also I will be persuaded to do for the house of Israel: to multiply them like sheep.	37 Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahvé: Pour leur accorder ceci encore, je me laisserai chercher par lamaison d'Israël; je les multiplierai comme un troupeau humain,
38 As with sacrificial sheep, the sheep of Jerusalem on its feast days, the cities which were in ruins shall be filled with flocks of men; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	38 comme un troupeau de bêtes consacrées, comme le troupeau réuni à Jérusalem lors de sesassemblées. C'est ainsi que vos villes en ruines se rempliront d'un troupeau humain, et l'on saura que je suisYahvé.
