1 As for you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel: Mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD!	1 Prophétise donc, fils d’homme, pour les montagnes d’Israël. Dis-leur: Montagnes d’Israël, écoutez une parole de Yahvé.
2 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because the enemy has said of you, "Ha! the everlasting heights have become our possession"	2 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: L’ennemi s’est moqué de vous: “Ah oui, les montagnes éternelles sont devenues notre propriété!”
3 (therefore prophesy in these words: Thus says the Lord GOD:); because you have been ridiculed and despised on all sides for having become a possession for the rest of the nations, and have become a byword and a popular jeer;	3 C’est pourquoi tu vas prophétiser. Dis-leur de ma part: Vous avez été dévastées, piétinées de tous côtés, vous êtes devenues la propriété des autres nations, on a raconté n’importe quoi sur votre compte, on vous a insultées.
4 therefore, mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD: (Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, the desolate ruins and abandoned cities, which have been given over to the pillage and mockery of the remaining nations round about;	4 Eh bien, montagnes d’Israël, écoutez la parole de Yahvé. Voici ce qu’il dit aux montagnes et aux collines, aux ravins et aux vallées, aux ruines dévastées et aux villes abandonnées qui sont devenues une proie et un jeu pour ce qui restait de leurs voisins:
5 therefore thus says the Lord GOD:) Truly, with burning jealousy I speak against the rest of the nations (and against all of Edom) who with wholehearted joy and utter contempt have considered my land their possession to be delivered over to plunder.	5 Oui, dans le feu de mon indignation je me tournerai contre Édom et les autres nations qui se sont emparées de ma terre avec plaisir et beaucoup de mépris, pour la prendre ou la piller.
6 (Therefore, prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys: Thus says the Lord GOD:) With jealous fury I speak, because you have borne the reproach of the nations.	6 C’est pourquoi, prophétise à propos de la terre d’Israël. Tu diras aux montagnes et aux collines, aux ravins et aux vallées, cette parole de Yahvé: Voici ce que j’ai décidé dans mon indignation et ma colère. Puisque vous avez été humiliées par les nations,
7 Therefore do I solemnly swear that your neighboring nations shall bear their own reproach.	7 à mon tour je lève la main pour jurer que les nations qui vous entourent vont être humiliées.
8 As for you, mountains of Israel, you shall grow branches and bear fruit for my people Israel, for they shall soon return.	8 Mais vous, montagnes d’Israël, vous produirez récoltes et fruits pour mon peuple Israël qui est près de revenir.
9 See, I come to you, it is to you that I turn; you will be tilled and sown,	9 Je vais revenir chez vous et me tourner vers vous; vous serez travaillées et ensemencées.
10 and I will settle crowds of men upon you, the whole house of Israel; cities shall be repeopled, and ruins rebuilt.	10 Je multiplierai sur vous les hommes, toute la maison d’Israël; les villes seront de nouveau habitées, et les ruines rebâties.
11 I will settle crowds of men and beasts upon you, to multiply and be fruitful. I will repeople you as in the past, and be more generous to you than in the beginning; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.	11 Je multiplierai sur vous les humains comme le bétail ( ). Vous serez habitées comme autrefois et je vous traiterai mieux encore que dans les commencements; alors vous saurez que je suis Yahvé.
12 (My people Israel are the ones whom I will have walk upon you; they shall take possession of you, and you shall be their heritage. Never again shall you rob them of their children.)	12 Sur vous, montagnes d’Israël, on verra circuler du monde, les enfants d’Israël mon peuple. Ils s’installeront chez toi, tu redeviendras leur héritage et tu ne les laisseras plus désormais sans enfants.
13 Thus says the Lord GOD: Because they have said of you, "You are a land that devours men, and you rob your people of their children";	13 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: On dit que tu dévores tes habitants et que tu laisses la nation sans enfants.
14 therefore, never again shall you devour men or rob your people of their children, says the Lord GOD.	14 Eh bien, tu ne dévoreras plus tes habitants et tu ne laisseras plus ta nation sans enfants - parole de Yahvé.
15 No more will I permit you to hear the reproach of nations, or bear insults from peoples, or rob your people of their children, says the Lord GOD.	15 Je ferai que tu ne te fasses plus insulter par les nations ( ) - parole de Yahvé.”
16 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	16 Cette parole de Yahvé me fut adressée:
17 Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their land, they defiled it by their conduct and deeds. In my sight their conduct was like the defilement of a menstruous woman.	17 “Fils d’homme, lorsque Israël habitait sur son sol, il l’a rendu impur par sa conduite et ses actions; leur conduite était à mes yeux comme l’impureté d’une femme.
18 Therefore I poured out my fury upon them (because of the blood which they poured out on the ground, and because they defiled it with idols).	18 Alors j’ai déchaîné contre eux ma colère,
19 I scattered them among the nations, dispersing them over foreign lands; according to their conduct and deeds I judged them.	19 je les ai dispersés au milieu des nations, disséminés parmi les pays; je les ai jugés selon leur conduite et leurs actions.
20 But when they came among the nations (wherever they came), they served to profane my holy name, because it was said of them: "These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave their land."	20 Ils sont donc arrivés parmi les nations. Mais là encore mon saint Nom a été profané. On disait en effet: “C’est le peuple de Yahvé qui a dû sortir de son pays.”
21 So I have relented because of my holy name which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they came.	21 Alors j’ai eu à cœur la sainteté de mon Nom, car dans les nations où se trouvait la maison d’Israël, et à cause d’elle, mon Nom était profané.
22 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Not for your sakes do I act, house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which you profaned among the nations to which you came.	22 C’est pourquoi tu vas dire à la maison d’Israël cette parole de Yahvé: ce n’est pas pour vous que je le fais, maison d’Israël, c’est pour mon saint Nom qui par votre faute a été profané parmi les nations où vous êtes.
23 I will prove the holiness of my great name, profaned among the nations, in whose midst you have profaned it. Thus the nations shall know that I am the LORD, says the Lord GOD, when in their sight I prove my holiness through you.	23 Je sanctifierai mon Nom qui a été profané parmi les nations - et c’est vous qui l’avez fait mépriser. Les nations sauront que je suis Yahvé lorsque, à travers vous, je montrerai à leurs yeux ma sainteté.
24 For I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the foreign lands, and bring you back to your own land.	24 Je vous prendrai du milieu des nations, je vous rassemblerai d’entre les peuples et je vous ramènerai sur votre terre.
25 I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.	25 Je vous aspergerai d’une eau pure et vous serez purifiés; je vous purifierai de toutes vos impuretés et de toutes vos sales idoles.
26 I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts.	26 Je vous donnerai un cœur nouveau et je mettrai au dedans de vous un esprit nouveau. J’enlèverai de votre chair le cœur de pierre et je vous donnerai un cœur de chair.
27 I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees.	27 Je mettrai en vous mon Esprit et je ferai que vous marchiez selon mes commandements, que vous observiez mes lois et les mettiez en pratique.
28 You shall live in the land I gave your fathers; you shall be my people, and I will be your God.	28 Vous habiterez le pays que j’ai donné à vos pères, vous serez mon peuple et je serai votre Dieu.
29 I will save you from all your impurities; I will order the grain to be abundant, and I will not send famine against you.	29 Je vous délivrerai de toutes vos impuretés. J’appellerai le blé et il poussera en abondance; je ne vous enverrai plus la famine.
30 I will increase the fruit on your trees and the crops in your fields; thus you shall no longer bear among the nations the reproach of famine.	30 Je multiplierai les fruits des arbres et les produits des champs; vous ne serez plus humiliés par la famine aux yeux des autres nations.
31 Then you shall remember your evil conduct, and that your deeds were not good; you shall loathe yourselves for your sins and your abominations.	31 Alors vous vous souviendrez de votre conduite et de vos actions mauvaises, vous aurez honte de vous-mêmes à cause de vos fautes et de vos crimes.
32 Not for your sakes do I act, says the Lord GOD--let this be known to you! Be ashamed and abashed because of your conduct, O house of Israel.	32 Sachez-le bien, dit Yahvé, ce n’est pas à cause de vous que je le fais. Ayez honte et rougissez de votre conduite, maison d’Israël.
33 Thus says the Lord GOD: When I purify you from all your crimes, I will repeople the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt;	33 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: Le jour où je vous purifierai de vos fautes, je ferai que les villes soient habitées et les ruines reconstruites.
34 the desolate land shall be tilled, which was formerly a wasteland exposed to the gaze of every passer-by.	34 La terre ravagée sera de nouveau cultivée après que tous les passants l’auront vue abandonnée.
35 "This desolate land has been made into a garden of Eden," they shall say. "The cities that were in ruins, laid waste, and destroyed are now repeopled and fortified."	35 On dira même: “Cette terre qui était à l’abandon est devenue un jardin d’Éden, les villes en ruines, abandonnées, détruites, ont aujourd’hui des murs et sont habitées.”
36 Thus the neighboring nations that remain shall know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed and replanted what was desolate. I, the LORD, have promised, and I will do it.	36 Alors les nations qui sont restées autour de vous, sauront que moi, Yahvé, j’ai reconstruit ce qui était démoli, j’ai replanté ce qui était ravagé. Moi Yahvé, je le dis et je le ferai.
37 Thus says the Lord GOD: This also I will be persuaded to do for the house of Israel: to multiply them like sheep.	37 Voici ce que dit Yahvé: J’accorderai encore ceci aux prières de la maison d’Israël: je multiplierai chez eux les hommes autant que le bétail.
38 As with sacrificial sheep, the sheep of Jerusalem on its feast days, the cities which were in ruins shall be filled with flocks of men; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.	38 Dans les villes autrefois en ruines, les hommes seront nombreux comme des brebis, comme le troupeau des bêtes consacrées, comme les brebis dans Jérusalem à l’occasion des grandes assemblées; alors on saura que je suis Yahvé.
