1 "And the LORD fulfilled the warning he had uttered against us: against our judges, who governed Israel, against our kings and princes, and against the men of Israel and Judah.	1 Por eso el Señor ha cumplido la amenaza que había pronunciado contra nosotros, contra los jueces que gobernaron a Israel, contra nuestros reyes, contra nuestros jefes y contra los hombres de Israel y de Judá.
2 He brought down upon us evils so great that there has not been done anywhere under heaven what has been done in Jerusalem, as was written in the law of Moses:	2 Nunca se hizo bajo el cielo nada semejante a lo que él hizo en Jerusalén, conforme a lo que está escrito en la Ley de Moisés,
3 that one after another of us should eat the flesh of his son or of his daughter.	3 a tal punto que llegamos a comer, uno la carne de su hijo, y otro la carne de su hija.
4 He has made us subject to all the kingdoms round about us, a reproach and a horror among all the nations round about to which the LORD has scattered us.	4 El los entregó en manos de todos los reinos que nos rodean, para que cayeran en el oprobio y la desolación, entre todos los pueblos de los alrededores donde el Señor los dispersó.
5 We are brought low, not raised up, because we sinned against the LORD, our God, not heeding his voice.	5 Así quedaron sometidos, en lugar de prevalecer, porque nosotros hemos pecado contra el Señor, nuestro Dios, al no escuchar su voz.
6 "Justice is with the LORD, our God; and we, like our fathers, are flushed with shame even today.	6 Al Señor, nuestro Dios, pertenece la justicia; a nosotros, en cambio, y a nuestros padres la vergüenza reflejada en el rostro, como sucede en el día de hoy.
7 All the evils of which the LORD had warned us have come upon us:	7 Todo lo que el Señor había anunciado contra nosotros, todas esas desgracias nos han sobrevenido.
8 and we did not plead before the LORD, or turn, each from the figments of his evil heart.	8 Nosotros no hemos aplacado con nuestras súplicas el rostro del Señor, apartándonos cada uno de los pensamientos de su corazón perverso.
9 And the LORD kept watch over the evils, and brought them home to us; for the LORD is just in all the works he commanded us to do,	9 Por eso el Señor estuvo atento a estas calamidades y las descargó sobre nosotros, porque él es justo en todo lo que nos manda hacer.
10 but we did not heed his voice, or follow the precepts of the LORD which he set before us.	10 Pero nosotros no hemos escuchado la voz del Señor, que nos mandaba seguir los preceptos que él puso delante de nosotros.
11 "And now, LORD, God of Israel, you who led your people out of the land of Egypt with your mighty hand, with signs and wonders and great might, and with your upraised arm, so that you have made for yourself a name till the present day:	11 Y ahora, Señor, Dios de Israel, que hiciste salir a tu pueblo de la tierra de Egipto con mano fuerte, con signos y portentos, con gran poder y con el brazo en alto, haciéndote así un Nombre famoso hasta el día de hoy,
12 we have sinned, been impious, and violated, O LORD, our God, all your statutes.	12 nosotros hemos pecado, nos hemos hecho impíos, hemos incurrido en la injusticia, Señor, Dios nuestro, desobedeciendo todas tus prescripciones.
13 Let your anger be withdrawn from us, for we are left few in number among the nations to which you scattered us.	13 Que tu furor se aparte de nosotros, porque hemos quedado muy pocos entre las naciones donde nos has dispersado.
14 Hear, O LORD, our prayer of supplication, and deliver us for your own sake: grant us favor in the presence of our captors,	14 Escucha, Señor, nuestra oración y nuestra súplica, y por tu honor, líbranos y concédenos el favor de aquellos que nos han deportado,
15 that the whole earth may know that you are the LORD, our God, and that Israel and his descendants bear your name.	15 para que toda la tierra conozca que tú eres el Señor, nuestro Dios, porque tu Nombre ha sido invocado sobre Israel y sobre su raza.
16 O LORD, look down from your holy dwelling and take thought of us; turn, O LORD, your ear to hear us.	16 Mira, Señor, desde tu santa morada y piensa en nosotros; inclina tu oído y escucha;
17 Look directly at us, and behold: it is not the dead in the nether world, whose spirits have been taken from within them, who will give glory and vindication to the LORD.	17 abre, Señor, tus ojos y mira; porque no son los muertos que están en el Abismo, aquellos cuyo espíritu ha sido arrancado de sus entrañas, los que tributan gloria y justicia al Señor ;
18 He whose soul is deeply grieved, who walks bowed and feeble, with failing eyes and famished soul, will declare your glory and justice, LORD!	18 sino que es el alma llena de aflicción, y son los que caminan encorvados y sin fuerzas, los ojos debilitados y el alma hambrienta los que te tributan, Señor, gloria y justicia.
19 "Not on the just deeds of our fathers and our kings do we base our plea for mercy in your sight, O LORD, our God.	19 No es por las obras de justicia de nuestros padres y de nuestros reyes, que nosotros presentamos nuestra súplica delante de tu rostro, Señor, Dios nuestro.
20 You have brought your wrath and anger down upon us, as you had warned us through your servants the prophets:	20 Porque tú has enviado sobre nosotros tu furor y tu indignación, como lo habías anunciado por medio de tus servidores, los profetas, diciendo:
21 'Thus says the LORD: Bend your shoulders to the service of the king of Babylon, that you may continue in the land I gave your fathers:	21 Así habla el Señor: Dobleguen sus espaldas y sirvan al rey de Babilonia, y permanecerán en la tierra que yo he dado a sus padres.
22 for if you do not hear the LORD'S voice so as to serve the king of Babylon,	22 Pero si ustedes no escuchan la voz del Señor, sirviendo al rey de Babilonia,
23 I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem The sounds of joy and the sounds of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; And all the land shall be deserted, without inhabitants.'	23 yo haré cesar en las ciudades de Judá y dentro de Jerusalén el grito de gozo y el grito de alegría, el canto del esposo y el canto de la esposa, y todo el país se convertirá en un desierto sin habitantes.
24 But we did not heed your voice, or serve the king of Babylon, and you fulfilled the threats you had made through your servants the prophets, to have the bones of our kings and the bones of our fathers brought out from their burial places.	24 Y nosotros no hemos escuchado tu voz, que nos mandaba servir al rey de Babilonia; por eso, tú has cumplido la amenaza que habías pronunciado por medio de tus servidores, los profetas, a saber, que serían sacados de su sitio los huesos de nuestros reyes y los huesos de nuestros padres.
25 And indeed, they lie exposed to the heat of day and the frost of night. They died in dire anguish, by hunger and the sword and plague.	25 Y ahora han sido arrojados al calor del día y al frío de la noche, después de haber muerto en medio de crueles sufrimientos, por el hambre, la espada y la peste.
26 And you reduced the house which bears your name to what it is today, for the wickedness of the kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of Judah.	26 Tú has reducido Esta Casa sobre la que había sido invocado tu Nombre, a lo que es en el día de hoy, a causa de la maldad de la casa de Israel y de la casa de Judá.
27 "But with us, O Lord, our God, you have dealt in all your clemency and in all your great mercy.	27 Sin embargo, tú nos has tratado, Señor, Dios nuestro, conforme a toda tu benignidad y a tu gran compasión,
28 This was your warning through your servant Moses, the day you ordered him to write down your law in the presence of the Israelites:	28 como lo habías anunciado por medio de Moisés, tu servidor, el día en que le ordenaste escribir tu Ley en presencia de los israelitas, diciendo:
29 If you do not heed my voice, surely this great and numerous throng will dwindle away among the nations to which I will scatter them.	29 «Si ustedes no escuchan mi voz, esta grande, esta inmensa muchedumbre será reducida a un pequeño número entre las naciones adonde los dispersaré.
30 For I know they will not heed me, because they are a stiff-necked people. But in the land of their captivity they shall have a change of heart;	30 Yo sé, en efecto, que ellos no me escucharán, porque son un pueblo obstinado y rebelde, pero en la tierra de su exilio, volverán sobre sí mismos
31 they shall know that I, the LORD, am their God. I will give them hearts, and heedful ears;	31 y conocerán que yo soy el Señor, su Dios. Les daré un corazón y oídos dóciles,
32 and they shall praise me in the land of their captivity, and shall invoke my name.	32 y ellos me alabarán en la tierra de su exilio y se acordarán de mi Nombre.
33 Then they shall turn back from their stiff-necked stubbornness, and from their evil deeds, because they shall remember the fate of their fathers who sinned against the LORD.	33 Se arrepentirán de su obstinación y de sus malas acciones, porque se acordarán de la suerte de sus padres que pecaron contra el Señor .
34 And I will bring them back to the land which with my oath I promised to their fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; and they shall rule it. I will make them increase; they shall not then diminish.	34 Entonces los haré volver a la tierra que juré dar a sus padres, a Abraham, a Isaac y a Jacob, y se adueñarán de ella. Los multiplicaré y ya no disminuirán.
35 And I will establish for them, as an eternal covenant, that I will be their God, and they shall be my people; and I will not again remove my people Israel from the land I gave them.	35 Estableceré para ellos una alianza eterna, para que yo sea su Dios y ellos sean mi Pueblo, y ya no arrojaré más a mi pueblo Israel de la tierra que les he dado».
