1 "And the LORD fulfilled the warning he had uttered against us: against our judges, who governed Israel, against our kings and princes, and against the men of Israel and Judah.	1 Por eso el Señor Dios nuesro ha cumplido la palabra que había pronunciado contra nosotros, contra nuestros jueces que juzgaron a Israel, contra nuestros reyes y nuestros príncipes, contra los habitantes de Israel y de Judá.
2 He brought down upon us evils so great that there has not been done anywhere under heaven what has been done in Jerusalem, as was written in the law of Moses:	2 Jamás se hizo debajo del cielo entero nada semejante a lo que hizo él en Jerusalén, conforme está escrito en la Ley de Moisés,
3 that one after another of us should eat the flesh of his son or of his daughter.	3 hasta el punto de que llegamos a comer uno la carne de su propio hijo, otro la carne de su propia hija.
4 He has made us subject to all the kingdoms round about us, a reproach and a horror among all the nations round about to which the LORD has scattered us.	4 Y los entregó el Señor en poder de todos los reinos de nuestro alrededor para que fuesen objeto de oprobio y maldición entre todos los pueblos circundantes donde el Señor los dispersó.
5 We are brought low, not raised up, because we sinned against the LORD, our God, not heeding his voice.	5 Hemos pasado a estar debajo y no encima, por haber pecado contra el Señor Dios nuestro desoyendo su voz.
6 "Justice is with the LORD, our God; and we, like our fathers, are flushed with shame even today.	6 Al Señor Dios nuestro la justicia; a nosotros y a nuestros padres la confusión del rostro, como sucede en este día.
7 All the evils of which the LORD had warned us have come upon us:	7 Lo que el Señor había dicho contra nosotros, todos esos males nos han sobrevenido.
8 and we did not plead before the LORD, or turn, each from the figments of his evil heart.	8 Pero nosotros no hemos suplicado al rostro del Señor volviéndonos cada uno de los pensamientos de su perverso corazón.
9 And the LORD kept watch over the evils, and brought them home to us; for the LORD is just in all the works he commanded us to do,	9 Por eso el Señor ha estado atento a los males y los ha descargado el Señor sobre nosotros; porque es justo el Señor en todas las obras que nos ordenó;
10 but we did not heed his voice, or follow the precepts of the LORD which he set before us.	10 y nosotros no hemos escuchado su voz siguiendo las órdenes que el Señor nos había puesto delante.
11 "And now, LORD, God of Israel, you who led your people out of the land of Egypt with your mighty hand, with signs and wonders and great might, and with your upraised arm, so that you have made for yourself a name till the present day:	11 Y ahora, oh Señor, Dios de Israel, que sacaste a tu pueblo del país de Egipto con mano fuerte, entre señales y prodigios, con gran poder y tenso brazo, haciéndote así un nombre como se ve en este día,
12 we have sinned, been impious, and violated, O LORD, our God, all your statutes.	12 nosotros hemos pecado, hemos sido impíos, hemos cometido injusticia, Señor Dios nuestro, contra todos tus decretos.
13 Let your anger be withdrawn from us, for we are left few in number among the nations to which you scattered us.	13 Que tu furor se retire de nosotros, porque hemos quedado bien pocos entre las naciones en medio de las cuales tú nos dispersaste.
14 Hear, O LORD, our prayer of supplication, and deliver us for your own sake: grant us favor in the presence of our captors,	14 Escucha, Señor, nuestra oración y nuestra súplica, líbranos por ti mismo, y haz que hallemos gracia a los ojos de los que nos deportaron,
15 that the whole earth may know that you are the LORD, our God, and that Israel and his descendants bear your name.	15 para que sepa toda la tierra que tú eres el Señor Dios nuestro y que tu Nombre se invoca sobre Israel y sobre su raza.
16 O LORD, look down from your holy dwelling and take thought of us; turn, O LORD, your ear to hear us.	16 Mira, Señor, desde tu santa Casa y piensa en nosotros; inclina, Señor, tu oído y escucha;
17 Look directly at us, and behold: it is not the dead in the nether world, whose spirits have been taken from within them, who will give glory and vindication to the LORD.	17 abre, Señor, tus ojos y mira que no son los muertos en el seol, aquellos cuyo espíritu fue arrancado de sus entrañas, los que dan gloria y justicia al Señor,
18 He whose soul is deeply grieved, who walks bowed and feeble, with failing eyes and famished soul, will declare your glory and justice, LORD!	18 sino el alma comada de aflición, el que camina encorvado y extenuado, los ojos lánguidos y el alma hambrienta, esos son los que te dan gloria y justicia, Señor.
19 "Not on the just deeds of our fathers and our kings do we base our plea for mercy in your sight, O LORD, our God.	19 No apoyados en las obras justas de nuestros padres y de nuestros reyes derramamos nuestra súplica de piedad ante tu rostro, oh Señor Dios nuestro.
20 You have brought your wrath and anger down upon us, as you had warned us through your servants the prophets:	20 Porque has descargado sobre nosotros tu furor y tu ira, como habías hablado por medio de tus siervos los profetas diciendo diciendo:
21 'Thus says the LORD: Bend your shoulders to the service of the king of Babylon, that you may continue in the land I gave your fathers:	21 «Así dice el Señor: Doblegad vuestra espalda, servid al rey de Babilonia, y os asentaréis en la tierra que yo di a vuestros padres.
22 for if you do not hear the LORD'S voice so as to serve the king of Babylon,	22 Pero si no escucháis la invitación del Señor a servir al rey de Babilonia,
23 I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem The sounds of joy and the sounds of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; And all the land shall be deserted, without inhabitants.'	23 yo haré cesar en las ciudades de Judá y en Jerusalén el canto de alegría y el canto de alborozo, el canto del novio y el canto de la novia, y todo el país quedará hecho un desierto, sin habitantes».
24 But we did not heed your voice, or serve the king of Babylon, and you fulfilled the threats you had made through your servants the prophets, to have the bones of our kings and the bones of our fathers brought out from their burial places.	24 Pero nosotros no escuchamos tu invitación de servir al rey de Babilonia, y tú entonces ha cumplido tus palabras, pronunciadas por medio de tus siervos los profetas: que los huesos de nuestros reyes y los huesos de nuestros padres serían sacados de sus sepulcros.
25 And indeed, they lie exposed to the heat of day and the frost of night. They died in dire anguish, by hunger and the sword and plague.	25 Y he aquí que efectivamente yacen tirados por el suelo al calor del día y al frío de la noche; y ellos murieron en medio en medio de atroces sufrimientos,de hambre, de espada y de peste;
26 And you reduced the house which bears your name to what it is today, for the wickedness of the kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of Judah.	26 y la Casa sobre la que se invoca tu Nombre la has reducido al estado en que se encuentra en este día, a causa de la maldad de la casa de Israel y de la casa de Judá.
27 "But with us, O Lord, our God, you have dealt in all your clemency and in all your great mercy.	27 Sin embargo has obrado con nosotros, Señor Dios nuestro, según toda tu indulgencia y tu gran misericordia,
28 This was your warning through your servant Moses, the day you ordered him to write down your law in the presence of the Israelites:	28 como habías hablado por medio de tu siervo Moisés, el día en que le ordenaste escribir tu Ley en presencia de los hijos de Israel, diciendo:
29 If you do not heed my voice, surely this great and numerous throng will dwindle away among the nations to which I will scatter them.	29 «Si no escucháis mi voz, esta misma grande, inmensa muchedumbre quedará reducida a un pequeño número en medio de las naciones donde yo los dispersaré.
30 For I know they will not heed me, because they are a stiff-necked people. But in the land of their captivity they shall have a change of heart;	30 Pues bien sé que no me escucharán, porque es un pueblo de dura cerviz; pero se convertirán en sus corazones en el país de su destierro;
31 they shall know that I, the LORD, am their God. I will give them hearts, and heedful ears;	31 y reconocerán entonces que yo soy el Señor su Dios. Yo les daré un corazón y unos oídos que oigan.
32 and they shall praise me in the land of their captivity, and shall invoke my name.	32 Y ellos me alabarán en el país de su destierro, se acordarán de mi nombre,
33 Then they shall turn back from their stiff-necked stubbornness, and from their evil deeds, because they shall remember the fate of their fathers who sinned against the LORD.	33 desistirán de su dura cerviz y de su perversa conducta acordándose de lo que les sucedió a sus padres que pecaron delante del Señor.
34 And I will bring them back to the land which with my oath I promised to their fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; and they shall rule it. I will make them increase; they shall not then diminish.	34 Yo les volveré a la tierra que bajo juramento prometí a sus padres, a Abraham, Isaac y Jacob, y tomarán posesión de ella. Los multiplicaré y ya no menguarán.
35 And I will establish for them, as an eternal covenant, that I will be their God, and they shall be my people; and I will not again remove my people Israel from the land I gave them.	35 Y estableceré con ellos una alianza eterna de ser yo su Dios y ser ellos mi pueblo, y no volveré a arrojar ya a mi pueblo Israel de la tierra que les di».
