1 Oracle on Moab: Laid waste in a night, Ar of Moab is destroyed; Laid waste in a night, Kir of Moab is destroyed.	1 - Vaticinio su Moab. Perchè di notte è stata devastata Ar Moab, tace; perchè di notte è stato devastato il Muro di Moab, tace.
2 Up goes daughter Dibon to the high places to weep; Over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. Every head is shaved, every beard sheared off.	2 Salì al tempio e a Dibon, alle sacre alture in pianto; per Nebo e per Madaba, Moab manda urla lamentevoli; tutte le teste dei suoi saranno scalvate e tutte le barbe rasate.
3 In the streets they wear sackcloth, lamenting and weeping; On the rooftops and in the squares everyone wails.	3 Per le contrade, genti cinte di sacco, sulle terrazze e per le piazze, tutto un urlo di pianto dirotto.
4 Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, they are heard as far as Jahaz. At this the loins of Moab tremble, his soul quivers within him;	4 Hesebon ed Eleade mandano grida, fino da Jasa si è udita la loro voce; i soldati di Moab gridano spaventati, ciascuno grida paventando per sè.
5 The heart of Moab cries out, his fugitives reach Zoar (Eglath-shelishiyah). Per la salita di Luit tra i pianti vi si sale, la strada di Oronaim risuona di urla strazianti.
6 The waters of Nimrim have become a waste; The grass is withered, new growth is gone, nothing is green.	6 Le acque di Nemrim resteranno deserte, perchè l'erba è seccata, scomparsa la vegetazione, tutto il verde svanito.
7 So now whatever they have acquired or stored away they carry across the Gorge of the Poplars,	7 Quanto grande era l'agiatezza che s'erano creata, altrettanto grande sarà la perquisizione che di loro sarà fatta; li condurranno al torrente dei salici.
8 For the cry has gone round the land of Moab; As far as Eglaim the wailing, and to Beer-elim, the wail.	8 Perchè il grido dell'angoscia ha fatto il giro della frontiera di Moab, il suo urlo fino a Gallim, fino al pozzo di Elim il suo clamore.
9 The waters of Dimon are filled with blood, but I will bring still more upon Dimon: Lions for those who are fleeing from Moab and for those who remain in the land!	9 Le acque di Dibon sono già piene di sangue; ma contro Dibon manderò altro ancora per giunta: il leone contro i profughi di Moab e contro coloro che saranno rimasti nel paese.
