1 Oracle on Moab: Laid waste in a night, Ar of Moab is destroyed; Laid waste in a night, Kir of Moab is destroyed.	1 Ausspruch über Moab: Über Nacht wurde Ar verwüstet, ging Moab zugrunde. Über Nacht wurde Kir verwüstet, ging Moab zugrunde.
2 Up goes daughter Dibon to the high places to weep; Over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. Every head is shaved, every beard sheared off.	2 Die Tochter Dibon steigt zu den Kulthöhen hinauf, um dort zu klagen. Über Nebo und Medeba jammert Moab. Jeder Kopf ist kahl geschoren, alle Bärte hat man abgeschnitten.
3 In the streets they wear sackcloth, lamenting and weeping; On the rooftops and in the squares everyone wails.	3 Auf den Gassen geht man in Trauergewändern, alle weinen auf den Dächern und Plätzen und zerfließen in Tränen.
4 Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, they are heard as far as Jahaz. At this the loins of Moab tremble, his soul quivers within him;	4 Heschbon schreit und Elale, bis nach Jahaz ist ihre Stimme zu hören. Darum zittern die Krieger von Moab, ihre Seele verzagt.
5 The heart of Moab cries out, his fugitives reach Zoar (Eglath-shelishiyah). The ascent of Luhith they climb weeping; On the way to Horonaim they utter rending cries.	5 Mein Herz schreit auf wegen Moab; bis nach Zoar fliehen die Menschen [bis Eglat-Schelischija]. Die Steige von Luhit steigt man weinend hinauf. Auf dem Weg nach Horonajim schreien die Leute über das Unglück.
6 The waters of Nimrim have become a waste; The grass is withered, new growth is gone, nothing is green.	6 Die Quellen von Nimrim versiegen; das Gras ist verwelkt; verdorrt sind die Wiesen; alles Grün ist verschwunden.
7 So now whatever they have acquired or stored away they carry across the Gorge of the Poplars,	7 Darum schleppen sie ihre letzte Habe und ihre Vorräte über den Weidenbach fort.
8 For the cry has gone round the land of Moab; As far as Eglaim the wailing, and to Beer-elim, the wail.	8 Überallhin dringt das Klagegeschrei, bis an die Grenzen von Moab. Bis nach Eglajim hört man das Jammern, man hört es bis Beer-Elim.
9 The waters of Dimon are filled with blood, but I will bring still more upon Dimon: Lions for those who are fleeing from Moab and for those who remain in the land!	9 Voll Blut sind die Bäche von Dibon. Doch ich bringe über Dibon noch größeres Unglück: Löwen über die aus Moab Entronnenen, über den Rest von Adama.
