Proverbs 19

1 Better a poor man who walks in his integrity than he who is crooked in his ways and rich.	1 Más vale un pobre que camina con integridad que un hombre insensato y de labios tortuosos.
2 Without knowledge even zeal is not good; and he who acts hastily, blunders.	2 Sin la ciencia, ni el mismo celo es bueno, y el que se precipita malogra su intento.
3 A man's own folly upsets his way, but his heart is resentful against the LORD.	3 La necedad del hombre pervierte su camino, y luego su corazón se irrita contra el Señor.
4 Wealth adds many friends, but the friend of the poor man deserts him.	4 La fortuna multiplica los amigos, pero el pobre se ve separado hasta de su amigo.
5 The false witness will not go unpunished, and he who utters lies will not escape.	5 El testigo falso no quedará impune y el que profiere mentiras no escapará.
6 Many curry favor with a noble; all are friends of the man who has something to give.	6 Son muchos los que adulan al noble y todos son amigos del que hace regalos.
7 All the poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends shun him!	7 Al pobre hasta sus hermanos lo aborrecen, ¡cuánto más se alejarán de él sus amigos!
8 He who gains intelligence is his own best friend; he who keeps understanding will be successful.	8 El que adquiere buen juicio se ama a sí mismo, al que es razonable le irá bien.
9 The false witness will not go unpunished, and he who utters lies will perish.	9 El testigo falso no quedará impune y el que profiere mentiras perecerá.
10 Luxury is not befitting a fool; much less should a slave rule over princes.	10 No te sienta bien al insensato una vida confortable, ¡cuánto menos a un esclavo gobernar a los príncipes!
11 It is good sense in a man to be slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.	11 El buen juicio de un hombre aplaca su ira, y su gloria es pasar por alto una ofensa.
12 The king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor, like dew on the grass.	12 Como rugido de león es la furia del rey, y su favor, como rocío sobre la hierba.
13 The foolish son is ruin to his father, and the nagging of a wife is a persistent leak.	13 Un hijo insensato es una calamidad para su padre, y las rencillas de una mujer son una gotera incesante.
14 Home and possessions are an inheritance from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.	14 Casa y fortuna son herencia de los padres, pero una mujer prudente es un don del Señor.
15 Laziness plunges a man into deep sleep, and the sluggard must go hungry.	15 La pereza hace caer en el letargo, y la persona indolente pasará hambre.
16 He who keeps the precept keeps his life, but the despiser of the word will die.	16 El que guarda los preceptos se guarda a sí mismo, el que descuida su propia conducta morirá.
17 He who has compassion on the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his good deed.	17 El que se apiada del pobre presta al Señor, y él le devolverá el bien que hizo.
18 Chastise your son, for in this there is hope; but do not desire his death.	18 Corrige a tu hijo mientras haya esperanza, pero no te arrebates hasta hacerlo morir.
19 The man of violent temper pays the penalty; even if you rescue him, you will have it to do again.	19 El hombre irascible se expone a las multas, si tratas de ayudarlo, empeoras las cosas.
20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may eventually become wise.	20 Escucha el consejo y acepta la corrección, y al fin llegarás a ser sabio.
21 Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the decision of the LORD that endures.	21 Hay muchos proyectos en el corazón del hombre, pero sólo se realiza el designio del Señor.
22 From a man's greed comes his shame; rather be a poor man than a liar.	22 Lo que se espera de un hombre es la fidelidad y más vale ser pobre que mentiroso.
23 The fear of the LORD is an aid to life; one eats and sleeps without being visited by misfortune.	23 El temor del Señor lleva a la vida, el que se sacia de él pasa la noche sin ser visitado por el mal.
24 The sluggard loses his hand in the dish; he will not even lift it to his mouth.	24 El perezoso hunde su mano en el plato y ni siquiera es capaz de llevársela a la boca.
25 If you beat an arrogant man, the simple learn a lesson; if you rebuke an intelligent man, he gains knowledge.	25 Golpea al insolente, y el simple se hará precavido, reprende al inteligente, y sabrá entender.
26 He who mistreats his father, or drives away his mother, is a worthless and disgraceful son.	26 El que maltrata a su padre y echa a su madre es un hijo que causa vergüenza y deshonor.
27 If a son ceases to hear instruction, he wanders from words of knowledge.	27 Si dejas, hijo mío, de escuchar la instrucción, te extraviarás lejos de las palabras de la sabiduría.
28 An unprincipled witness perverts justice, and the mouth of the wicked pours out iniquity.	28 El testigo infame se burla del derecho, y la boca de los malvados devora la iniquidad.
29 Rods are prepared for the arrogant, and blows for the backs of fools.	29 Hay castigos establecidos para los insolentes y golpes, para las espaldas de los necios.
