Psalms 53

1 For the leader; according to Mahalath. A maskil of David.	1 A karvezetőnek. A »Mahálát« szerint. Maszkíl Dávidtól. Így szól szívében az esztelen: »Nincs Isten.«
2 Fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." Their deeds are loathsome and corrupt; not one does what is right.	2 Romlottak lettek és utálatosságokat művelnek, nincs, aki jót cselekedne.
3 God looks down from heaven upon the human race, To see if even one is wise, if even one seeks God.	3 Lenéz Isten a mennyből az emberek fiaira, hogy lássa: van-e még okos, aki Istenre gondol?
4 All have gone astray; all alike are perverse. Not one does what is right, not even one.	4 Elfordultak mindannyian, megromlottak valamennyien; Nincs, aki jót cselekedne, nincs egyetlen egy sem!
5 Will these evildoers never learn? They devour my people as they devour bread; they do not call upon God.	5 Nemde mind értelmetlenek, akik gonoszat tesznek, s fölfalják népemet, mint a kenyeret? Nem hívják segítségül Istent,
6 They have good reason to fear, though now they do not fear. For God will certainly scatter the bones of the godless. They will surely be put to shame, for God has rejected them.	6 és ott remegnek és félnek, ahol félni nem kell. Mert Isten szétszórta azoknak a csontjait, akik téged szorongattak, szégyenbe jutottak, mert Isten elvetette őket.
7 Oh, that from Zion might come the deliverance of Israel, That Jacob may rejoice and Israel be glad when God restores the people!	7 Bárcsak eljönne Izrael segítsége Sionból! Ha majd Isten jóra fordítja népe sorsát, ujjong majd Jákob és örvendezik majd Izrael.
