1 The LORD then told Moses, "Say to Aaron: Stretch out your hand and your staff over the streams and canals and pools, to make frogs overrun the land of Egypt."	1 Az Úr azután ezt mondta Mózesnek: »Mondd Áronnak: Nyújtsd ki kezedet a botoddal a folyókra, a patakokra és a tavakra, és hozd fel a békákat Egyiptom földjére!«
2 Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.	2 Kinyújtotta erre Áron a kezét Egyiptom vizeire, feljöttek a békák, és ellepték Egyiptom földjét.
3 But the magicians did the same by their magic arts. They, too, made frogs overrun the land of Egypt.	3 De a varázslók is hasonlóképpen cselekedtek bűbájosságuk által, és felhozták a békákat Egyiptom földjére.
4 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Pray the LORD to remove the frogs from me and my subjects, and I will let the people go to offer sacrifice to the LORD."	4 Hívatta erre a fáraó Mózest és Áront, és azt mondta nekik: »Könyörögjetek az Úrhoz, hogy vigye el rólam és népemről a békákat! Akkor elengedem a népet, hogy áldozzék az Úrnak!«
5 Moses answered Pharaoh, "Do me the favor of appointing the time when I am to pray for you and your servants and your subjects, that the frogs may be taken away from you and your houses and be left only in the river."	5 Azt mondta erre Mózes a fáraónak: »Határozd meg nekem, mikor könyörögjek érted, szolgáidért és népedért, hogy eltávozzanak a békák tőled és házadtól, és csak a folyóban maradjanak meg!«
6 "Tomorrow," said Pharaoh. Then Moses replied, "It shall be as you have said, so that you may learn that there is none like the LORD, our God.	6 A fáraó így felelt: »Holnap.« Erre ő azt mondta: »Szavad szerint cselekszem, és megtudod, hogy nincs hasonló az Úrhoz, a mi Istenünkhöz!
7 The frogs shall leave you and your houses, your servants and your subjects; only in the river shall they be left."	7 El fognak távozni a békák tőled és házadtól, szolgáidtól és népedtől, csak a folyóban maradnak meg!«
8 After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh's presence, Moses implored the LORD to fulfill the promise he had made to Pharaoh about the frogs;	8 Amikor aztán Mózes és Áron kimentek a fáraótól, Mózes az Úrhoz kiáltott a békák miatt, ahogy a fáraónak megígérte.
9 and the LORD did as Moses had asked. The frogs in the houses and courtyards and fields died off.	9 Erre az Úr Mózes szava szerint cselekedett, és kiveszett a béka a házakból, az udvarokból és a mezőkről.
10 Heaps and heaps of them were gathered up, and there was a stench in the land.	10 Mérhetetlen rakásokba dobálták össze őket, és bűzlött tőlük az ország.
11 But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he became obdurate and would not listen to them, just as the LORD had foretold.	11 Amikor azonban a fáraó látta, hogy visszatért a nyugalma, megkeményítette szívét, és nem hallgatott rájuk, ahogy az Úr előre megmondta.
12 Thereupon the LORD said to Moses, "Tell Aaron to stretch out his staff and strike the dust of the earth, that it may be turned into gnats throughout the land of Egypt."	12 Azt mondta ekkor az Úr Mózesnek: »Szólj Áronnak: Nyújtsd ki botodat, és üss a föld porára, hogy szúnyoggá legyen az Egyiptomnak egész földjén!«
13 They did so. Aaron stretched out his hand, and with his staff he struck the dust of the earth, and gnats came upon man and beast. The dust of the earth was turned into gnats throughout the land of Egypt.	13 Úgy is tettek: Áron kinyújtotta a kezét a bottal, ráütött a föld porára, és szúnyog lett abból emberen és állaton. A föld minden pora szúnyoggá változott Egyiptom egész földjén.
14 Though the magicians tried to bring forth gnats by their magic arts, they could not do so. As the gnats infested man and beast,	14 Ugyanígy cselekedtek a varázslók is, hogy bűbájosságukkal szúnyogot támasszanak, de nem tudtak. Szúnyog volt tehát emberen és állaton.
15 the magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God." Yet Pharaoh remained obstinate and would not listen to them, just as the LORD had foretold.	15 A varázslók azt mondták erre a fáraónak: »Isten ujja ez!« Ám a fáraó szíve megkeményedett, és nem hallgatott rájuk, ahogy az Úr előre megmondta.
16 Again the LORD told Moses, "Early tomorrow morning present yourself to Pharaoh when he goes forth to the water, and say to him: Thus says the LORD: Let my people go to worship me.	16 Ekkor azt mondta az Úr Mózesnek: »Kora reggel kelj fel, állj a fáraó elé – kimegy ugyanis a vízhez –, és mondd neki: Ezt üzeni az Úr: Engedd el népemet, hogy áldozzék nekem,
17 If you will not let my people go, I warn you, I will loose swarms of flies upon you and your servants and your subjects and your houses. The houses of the Egyptians and the very ground on which they stand shall be filled with swarms of flies.	17 mert ha el nem engeded, íme, mindenféle legyet bocsátok rád, szolgáidra, népedre és házaidra, úgyhogy megtelik százféle léggyel az egyiptomiak háza és az egész föld, amelyen laknak.
18 But on that day I will make an exception of the land of Goshen: there shall be no flies where my people dwell, that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.	18 Gósen földjével azonban csodát teszek, ahol az én népem van, hogy ott ne támadjon légy, és megtudd, hogy én, az Úr itt vagyok ezen a földön!
19 I will make this distinction between my people and your people. This sign shall take place tomorrow."	19 Így teszek különbséget az én népem és a te néped között. Holnap következik be ez a jel.«
20 This the LORD did. Thick swarms of flies entered the house of Pharaoh and the houses of his servants; throughout Egypt the land was infested with flies.	20 Úgy is tett az Úr: tömérdek légy lepte el a fáraó és szolgáinak házát és Egyiptom egész földjét, és ezek a legyek tönkretették az országot.
21 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said to them, "Go and offer sacrifice to your God in this land."	21 Hívatta erre a fáraó Mózest és Áront, és azt mondta nekik: »Menjetek, áldozzatok Isteneteknek, de itt, ezen a földön!«
22 But Moses replied, "It is not right to do so, for the sacrifices we offer to the LORD, our God, are an abomination to the Egyptians. If before their very eyes we offer sacrifices which are an abomination to them, will not the Egyptians stone us?	22 Mózes azonban azt felelte: »Azt nem lehet, mert az egyiptomiak előtt utálatos az, amit mi áldozunk az Úrnak, a mi Istenünknek. Ha azt, amit az egyiptomiak tisztelnek, levágjuk előttük, megköveznek minket.
23 We must go a three days' journey in the desert to offer sacrifice to the LORD, our God, as he commands us."	23 Hadd menjünk tehát háromnapi útra a pusztába, hogy ott áldozzunk az Úrnak, a mi Istenünknek, ahogy megparancsolta nekünk!«
24 "Well, then," said Pharaoh, "I will let you go to offer sacrifice to the LORD, your God, in the desert, provided that you do not go too far away and that you pray for me."	24 Azt mondta erre a fáraó: »Elengedlek titeket, hogy áldozzatok az Úrnak, a ti Isteneteknek a pusztában. De nagyon messzire ne menjetek, és könyörögjetek értem!«
25 Moses answered, "As soon as I leave your presence I will pray to the LORD that the flies may depart tomorrow from Pharaoh and his servants and his subjects. Pharaoh, however, must not play false again by refusing to let the people go to offer sacrifice to the LORD."	25 Mózes azt felelte: »Mihelyt kimegyek tőled, imádkozni fogok az Úrhoz, és holnap eltávozik a légy a fáraótól, szolgáitól és népétől. De aztán rá ne szedj megint, hogy nem engeded el a népet, hogy áldozzék az Úrnak!«
26 When Moses left Pharaoh's presence, he prayed to the LORD;	26 Amikor tehát Mózes kiment a fáraótól, imádkozott az Úrhoz,
27 and the LORD did as Moses had asked. He removed the flies from Pharaoh and his servants and subjects. Not one remained.	27 és az Úr az ő szava szerint cselekedett. Eltávolította a legyet a fáraóról, a szolgáiról és a népéről, egy sem maradt belőle.
28 But once more Pharaoh became obdurate and would not let the people go.	28 Ám a fáraó szíve megkeményedett, és ezúttal sem engedte el a népet.
