NEW AMERICAN BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
This is what the LORD then said to Moses:1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
"Tell the Israelites to take up a collection for me. From every man you shall accept the contribution that his heart prompts him to give me.2 Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring firstfruits to me: of every man that offereth of his own accord, you shall take them.
These are the contributions you shall accept from them: gold, silver and bronze;3 And these are the things you must take: gold, and silver, and brass,
violet, purple and scarlet yarn; fine linen and goat hair;4 Violet and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
rams' skins dyed red, and tahash skins; acacia wood;5 And rams' skins dyed red, and violet skins, and setim wood:
oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense;6 Oil to make lights: spices for ointment, and for sweetsmelling incense:
onyx stones and other gems for mounting on the ephod and the breastpiece.7 Onyx stones, and precious stones to adorn the ephod and the rational.
"They shall make a sanctuary for me, that I may dwell in their midst.8 And they shall make me a sanctuary, and I will dwell in the midst of them:
This Dwelling and all its furnishings you shall make exactly according to the pattern that I will now show you.9 According to all the likeness of the tabernacle which I will shew thee, and of all the vessels for the service thereof: and thus you shall make it:
"You shall make an ark of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide, and one and a half cubits high.10 Frame an ark of setim wood, the length whereof shall be of two cubits and a half: the breadth, a cubit and a half: the height, likewise, a cubit and a half.
Plate it inside and outside with pure gold, and put a molding of gold around the top of it.11 And thou shalt overlay it with the purest gold within and without: and over it thou shalt make a golden crown round about:
Cast four gold rings and fasten them on the four supports of the ark, two rings on one side and two on the opposite side.12 And four golden rings, which thou shall put at the four corners of the ark: let two rings be on the one side, and two on the other.
Then make poles of acacia wood and plate them with gold.13 Thou shalt make bars also of setim wood, and shalt overlay them with gold.
These poles you are to put through the rings on the sides of the ark, for carrying it;14 And thou shalt put them in through the rings that are in the sides of the ark, that it may be carried on them.
they must remain in the rings of the ark and never be withdrawn.15 And they shall be always in the rings, neither shall they at any time be drawn out of them.
In the ark you are to put the commandments which I will give you.16 And thou shalt put in the ark the testimony which I will give thee.
"You shall then make a propitiatory of pure gold, two cubits and a half long, and one and a half cubits wide.17 Thou shalt make also a propitiatory of the purest gold: the length thereof shall be two cubits and a half, and the breadth a cubit and a half.
Make two cherubim of beaten gold for the two ends of the propitiatory,18 Thou shalt make also two cherubims of beaten gold, on the two sides of the oracle.
fastening them so that one cherub springs direct from each end.19 Let one cherub be on the one side, and the other on the other.
The cherubim shall have their wings spread out above, covering the propitiatory with them; they shall be turned toward each other, but with their faces looking toward the propitiatory.20 Let them cover both sides of the propitiatory, spreading their wings, and covering the oracle, and let them look one towards the other, their faces being turned towards the propitiatory wherewith the ark is to be covered.
This propitiatory you shall then place on top of the ark. In the ark itself you are to put the commandments which I will give you.21 In which thou shalt put the testimony that I will give thee.
There I will meet you and there, from above the propitiatory, between the two cherubim on the ark of the commandments, I will tell you all the commands that I wish you to give the Israelites.22 Thence will I give orders, and will speak to thee over the propitiatory, and from the midst of the two cherubims, which shall be upon the ark of the testimony, all things which I will command the children of Israel by thee.
"You shall also make a table of acacia wood, two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high.23 Thou shalt make a table also of setim wood, of two cubits in length, and a cubit in breadth, and a cubit and half in height.
Plate it with pure gold and make a molding of gold around it.24 And thou shalt overlay it with the purest gold: and thou shalt make to it a golden ledge round about.
Surround it with a frame, a handbreadth high, with a molding of gold around the frame.25 And to the ledge itself a polished crown, four inches high: and over the same another little golden crown.
You shall also make four rings of gold for it and fasten them at the four corners, one at each leg,26 Thou shalt prepare also four golden rings, and shalt put them in the four corners of the same table over each foot.
on two opposite sides of the frame as holders for the poles to carry the table.27 Under the crown shall the golden rings be, that the bars may be put through them, and the table may be carried.
These poles for carrying the table you shall make of acacia wood and plate with gold.28 The bars also themselves thou shalt make of setim wood, and shalt overlay them with gold to bear up the table.
Of pure gold you shall make its plates and cups, as well as its pitchers and bowls for pouring libations.29 Thou shalt prepare also dishes, and bowls, censers, and cups, wherein the libations are to be offered of the purest gold.
On the table you shall always keep showbread set before me.30 And thou shalt set upon the table loaves of proposition in my sight always.
"You shall make a lampstand of pure beaten gold-its shaft and branches-with its cups and knobs and petals springing directly from it.31 Thou shalt make also a candlestick of beaten work of the finest gold, the shaft thereof, and the branches, the cups, and the bowls, and the lilies going forth from it.
Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand, three branches on one side, and three on the other.32 Six branches shall come out of the sides, three out of the one side, and three out of the other.
On one branch there are to be three cups, shaped like almond blossoms, each with its knob and petals; on the opposite branch there are to be three cups, shaped like almond blossoms, each with its knob and petals; and so for the six branches that extend from the lampstand.33 Three cups as it were nuts to every branch, and a bowl withal, and a lily; and three cups, likewise of the fashion of nuts in the other branch, and a bowl withal, and a lily. Such shall be the work of the six branches, that are to come out from the shaft:
On the shaft there are to be four cups, shaped like almond blossoms, with their knobs and petals,34 And in the candlestick itself shall be four cups in the manner of a nut, and at every one, bowls and lilies.
including a knob below each of the three pairs of branches that extend from the lampstand.35 Bowls under two branches in three places, which together make six coming forth out of one shaft.
Their knobs and branches shall so spring from it that the whole will form but a single piece of pure beaten gold.36 And both the bowls and the branches shall be of the same beaten work of the purest gold.
You shall then make seven lamps for it and so set up the lamps that they shed their light on the space in front of the lampstand.37 Thou shalt make also seven lamps, and shalt set them upon the candlestick, to give light over against.
These, as well as the trimming shears and trays, must be of pure gold.38 The snuffers also and where the snuffings shall be put out, shall be made of the purest gold.
Use a talent of pure gold for the lampstand and all its appurtenances.39 The whole weight of the candlestick with all the furniture thereof shall be a talent of the purest gold.
See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.40 Look and make it according to the pattern, that was shewn thee in the mount.
