1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his servants obdurate in order that I may perform these signs of mine among them	1 Et dixit Dominus ad Moy sen: “ Ingredere ad pharao nem: ego enim induravi cor eius et servorum illius, ut faciam signa mea haec in medio eorum,
2 and that you may recount to your son and grandson how ruthlessly I dealt with the Egyptians and what signs I wrought among them, so that you may know that I am the LORD."	2 et narres in auribus filii tui et nepotum tuorum, quotiens contriverim Aegyptios et signa mea fecerim in eis; et sciatis quia ego Dominus ”.
3 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, "Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go to worship me.	3 Introierunt ergo Moyses et Aaron ad pharaonem et dixerunt ei: “ Haec dicit Dominus, Deus Hebraeorum: Usquequo non vis subici mihi? Dimitte populum meum, ut sacrificet mihi.
4 If you refuse to let my people go, I warn you, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country.	4 Sin autem resistis et non vis dimittere eum, ecce ego inducam cras locustam in fines tuos,
5 They shall cover the ground, so that the ground itself will not be visible. They shall eat up the remnant you saved unhurt from the hail, as well as all the foliage that has since sprouted in your fields.	5 quae operiat superficiem terrae, ne quidquam eius appareat, sed comedatur, quod residuum fuerit grandini; corrodet enim omnia ligna, quae germinant in agris.
6 They shall fill your houses and the houses of your servants and of all the Egyptians; such a sight your fathers or grandfathers have not seen from the day they first settled on this soil up to the present day." With that he turned and left Pharaoh.	6 Et implebunt domos tuas et servorum tuorum et omnium Aegyptiorum, quantam non viderunt patres tui et avi, ex quo orti sunt super terram usque in praesentem diem ”. Avertitque se et egressus est a pharaone.
7 But Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long must he be a menace to us? Let the men go to worship the LORD, their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is being destroyed?"	7 Dixerunt autem servi pharaonis ad eum: “ Usquequo patiemur hoc scandalum? Dimitte homines, ut sacrificent Domino Deo suo; nonne vides quod perierit Aegyptus? ”.
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh, who said to them, "You may go and worship the LORD, your God. But how many of you will go?"	8 Revocaveruntque Moysen et Aaron ad pharaonem, qui dixit eis: “ Ite, sacrificate Domino Deo vestro. Quinam sunt qui ituri sunt? ”.
9 "Young and old must go with us," Moses answered, "our sons and daughters as well as our flocks and herds must accompany us. That is what a feast of the LORD means to us."	9 Ait Moyses: “ Cum parvulis nostris et senioribus pergemus, cum filiis et filiabus, cum ovibus et armentis; est enim sollemnitas Domini nobis ”.
10 "The LORD help you," Pharaoh replied, "if I ever let your little ones go with you! Clearly, you have some evil in mind.	10 Et respondit eis: “ Sic Dominus sit vobiscum, quomodo ego dimittam vos et parvulos vestros. Cui dubium est quod pessime cogitetis?
11 No, no! Just you men can go and worship the LORD. After all, that is what you want." With that they were driven from Pharaoh's presence.	11 Non fiet ita, sed ite tantum viri et sacrificate Domino; hoc enim et ipsi petistis ”. Statimque eiecti sunt de conspectu pharaonis.
12 The LORD then said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt, that locusts may swarm over it and eat up all the vegetation and whatever the hail has left."	12 Dixit autem Dominus ad Moysen: “ Extende manum tuam super terram Aegypti, ut veniat locusta et ascendat super eam et devoret omnem herbam, quidquid residuum fuerit grandini ”.
13 So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the LORD sent an east wind blowing over the land all that day and all that night. At dawn the east wind brought the locusts.	13 Et extendit Moyses virgam super terram Aegypti, et Dominus induxit ventum urentem tota die illa et nocte. Et mane facto, ventus urens levavit locustas;
14 They swarmed over the whole land of Egypt and settled down on every part of it. Never before had there been such a fierce swarm of locusts, nor will there ever be.	14 quae ascenderunt super universam terram Aegypti et sederunt in cunctis finibus Aegyptiorum innumerabiles, quales ante illud tempus non fuerant nec postea futurae sunt.
15 They covered the surface of the whole land, till it was black with them. They ate up all the vegetation in the land and the fruit of whatever trees the hail had spared. Nothing green was left on any tree or plant throughout the land of Egypt.	15 Operueruntque universam superficiem terrae, et obscurata est terra. Devoraverunt igitur omnem herbam terrae et, quidquid pomorum in arboribus fuit, quae grando dimiserat; nihilque omnino virens relictum est in lignis et in herbis terrae in cuncta Aegypto.
16 Hastily Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "I have sinned against the LORD, your God, and against you.	16 Quam ob rem festinus pharao vocavit Moysen et Aaron et dixit eis: “ Peccavi in Dominum Deum vestrum et in vos.
17 But now, do forgive me my sin once more, and pray the LORD, your God, to take at least this deadly pest from me."	17 Sed nunc dimittite peccatum mihi tantum hac vice et rogate Dominum Deum vestrum, ut auferat a me saltem mortem istam ”.
18 When Moses left the presence of Pharaoh, he prayed to the LORD,	18 Egressusque Moyses de conspectu pharaonis oravit Dominum,
19 and the LORD changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which took up the locusts and hurled them into the Red Sea. But though not a single locust remained within the confines of Egypt,	19 qui flare fecit ventum ab occidente vehementissimum et arreptam locustam proiecit in mare Rubrum; non remansit ne una quidem in cunctis finibus Aegypti.
20 the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not let the Israelites go.	20 Et induravit Dominus cor pharaonis, nec dimisit filios Israel.
21 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that over the land of Egypt there may be such intense darkness that one can feel it."	21 Dixit autem Dominus ad Moysen: “ Extende manum tuam in caelum, et sint tenebrae super terram Aegypti tam densae ut palpari queant ”.
22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was dense darkness throughout the land of Egypt for three days.	22 Extenditque Moyses manum in caelum, et factae sunt tenebrae horribiles in universa terra Aegypti tribus diebus.
23 Men could not see one another, nor could they move from where they were, for three days. But all the Israelites had light where they dwelt.	23 Nemo vidit fratrem suum nec movit se de loco, in quo erat. Ubicumque autem habitabant filii Israel, lux erat.
24 Pharaoh then summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Go and worship the LORD. Your little ones, too, may go with you. But your flocks and herds must remain."	24 Vocavitque pharao Moysen et Aaron et dixit eis: “ Ite, sacrificate Domino; oves tantum vestrae et armenta remaneant, parvuli vestri eant vobiscum ”.
25 Moses replied, "You must also grant us sacrifices and holocausts to offer up to the LORD, our God.	25 Ait Moyses: “ Etiamsi tu hostias et holocausta dares nobis, quae offeramus Domino Deo nostro,
26 Hence, our livestock also must go with us. Not an animal must be left behind. Some of them we must sacrifice to the LORD, our God, but we ourselves shall not know which ones we must sacrifice to him until we arrive at the place itself."	26 tamen et greges nostri pergent nobiscum; non remanebit ex eis ungula, quoniam ex ipsis sumemus, quae necessaria sunt in cultum Domini Dei nostri; praesertim cum ignoremus quid debeat immolari, donec ad ipsum locum perveniamus ”.
27 But the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not let them go.	27 Induravit autem Dominus cor pharaonis, et noluit dimittere eos.
28 "Leave my presence," Pharaoh said to him, "and see to it that you do not appear before me again! The day you appear before me you shall die!"	28 Dixitque pharao ad eum: “ Recede a me. Cave, ne ultra videas faciem meam; quocumque die apparueris mihi, morieris ”.
29 Moses replied, "Well said! I will never appear before you again."	29 Respondit Moyses: “ Ita fiet, ut locutus es; non videbo ultra faciem tuam ”.
