1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his servants obdurate in order that I may perform these signs of mine among them	1 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Ve a Faraón, porque he endurecido su corazón y el corazón de sus siervos, para obrar estas señales mías en medio de ellos;
2 and that you may recount to your son and grandson how ruthlessly I dealt with the Egyptians and what signs I wrought among them, so that you may know that I am the LORD."	2 y para que puedas contar a tu hijo, y al hijo de tu hijo, cómo me divertí con Egipto y las señales que realicé entre ellos, y sepáis que yo soy Yahveh.»
3 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and told him, "Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go to worship me.	3 Fueron, pues, Moisés y Aarón donde Faraón y le dijeron: «Así dice Yahveh, el Dios de los hebreos: ¿Hasta cuándo te resistirás a humillarte ante mí? Deja salir a mi pueblo para que me dé culto.
4 If you refuse to let my people go, I warn you, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your country.	4 Si te niegas a dejar salir a mi pueblo, mira que mañana traeré langostas sobre tu territorio;
5 They shall cover the ground, so that the ground itself will not be visible. They shall eat up the remnant you saved unhurt from the hail, as well as all the foliage that has since sprouted in your fields.	5 y cubrirán la superficie del país, de suerte que ni podrá verse el suelo. Devorarán lo que os quedó de la granizada, y comerán todos los árboles que os crecen en el campo.
6 They shall fill your houses and the houses of your servants and of all the Egyptians; such a sight your fathers or grandfathers have not seen from the day they first settled on this soil up to the present day." With that he turned and left Pharaoh.	6 Llenarán tus casas, las casas de todos los egipcios, como nunca vieron tus padres, ni los padres de tus padres, desde el día en que existieron sobre la tierra hasta el día de hoy.» Y retirándose salió de la presencia de Faraón.
7 But Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long must he be a menace to us? Let the men go to worship the LORD, their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is being destroyed?"	7 Dijeron entonces a Faraón sus siervos: «¿Hasta cuándo ha de ser este hombre causa de nuestra ruina? Deja salir a esa gente y que den culto a Yahveh, su Dios. ¿Te darás cuenta a tiempo de que Egipto se pierde?»
8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh, who said to them, "You may go and worship the LORD, your God. But how many of you will go?"	8 Hicieron, pues, volver a Moisés y a Aarón a la presencia de Faraón; el cual les dijo: «Id a dar culto a Yahveh, vuestro Dios. ¿Quiénes van a ir?»
9 "Young and old must go with us," Moses answered, "our sons and daughters as well as our flocks and herds must accompany us. That is what a feast of the LORD means to us."	9 Respondió Moisés: «Saldremos con nuestros niños y nuestros ancianos, con nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, con nuestras ovejas y nuestras vacadas; porque es nuestra fiesta de Yahveh.»
10 "The LORD help you," Pharaoh replied, "if I ever let your little ones go with you! Clearly, you have some evil in mind.	10 Contestóles: «¡Así esté Yahveh con vosotros como voy a dejaros salir a vosotros con vuestros pequeños! Ved cómo a la vista están vuestras malas intenciones.
11 No, no! Just you men can go and worship the LORD. After all, that is what you want." With that they were driven from Pharaoh's presence.	11 No será así; salid si queréis los varones solos y dad culto a Yahveh, pues eso es lo que buscabais.» Y fueron echados de la presencia de Faraón.
12 The LORD then said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt, that locusts may swarm over it and eat up all the vegetation and whatever the hail has left."	12 Yahveh dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano sobre la tierra de Egipto para que venga la langosta; que suba sobre el país de Egipto y coma toda la hierba del país, todo lo que dejó el granizo.»
13 So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and the LORD sent an east wind blowing over the land all that day and all that night. At dawn the east wind brought the locusts.	13 Moisés extendió su cayado sobre la tierra de Egipto; y Yahveh hizo soplar el solano sobre el país todo aquel día y toda la noche. Y cuando amaneció, el solano había traído la langosta.
14 They swarmed over the whole land of Egypt and settled down on every part of it. Never before had there been such a fierce swarm of locusts, nor will there ever be.	14 La langosta invadió todo el país de Egipto, y se posó en todo el territorio egipcio, en cantidad tan grande como nunca había habido antes tal plaga de langosta ni la habría después.
15 They covered the surface of the whole land, till it was black with them. They ate up all the vegetation in the land and the fruit of whatever trees the hail had spared. Nothing green was left on any tree or plant throughout the land of Egypt.	15 Cubrieron toda la superficie del país hasta oscurecer la tierra; devoraron toda la hierba del país y todos los frutos de los árboles que el granizo había dejado; no quedó nada verde ni en los árboles ni en las hierbas del campo en toda la tierra de Egipto.
16 Hastily Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "I have sinned against the LORD, your God, and against you.	16 Entonces Faraón llamó a toda prisa a Moisés y a Aarón, y dijo: «He pecado contra Yahveh, vuestro Dios, y contra vosotros.
17 But now, do forgive me my sin once more, and pray the LORD, your God, to take at least this deadly pest from me."	17 Ahora, pues, perdonad por favor mi pecado, siquiera por esta vez; rogad a Yahveh, vuestro Dios, que aparte de mí al menos esta mortandad.»
18 When Moses left the presence of Pharaoh, he prayed to the LORD,	18 Salió Moisés de la presencia de Faraón y rogó a Yahveh.
19 and the LORD changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which took up the locusts and hurled them into the Red Sea. But though not a single locust remained within the confines of Egypt,	19 Yahveh hizo que soplara con gran violencia un viento del mar que se llevó la langosta y la echó al mar de Suf. No quedó ni una langosta en todo el territorio de Egipto.
20 the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not let the Israelites go.	20 Pero Yahveh endureció el corazón de Faraón, que no dejó salir a los israelitas.
21 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that over the land of Egypt there may be such intense darkness that one can feel it."	21 Yahveh dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo, y haya sobre la tierra de Egipto tinieblas que puedan palparse.»
22 So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and there was dense darkness throughout the land of Egypt for three days.	22 Extendió, pues, Moisés su mano hacia el cielo, y hubo por tres días densas tinieblas en todo el país de Egipto.
23 Men could not see one another, nor could they move from where they were, for three days. But all the Israelites had light where they dwelt.	23 No se veían unos a otros, y nadie se levantó de su sitio por espacio de tres días, mientras que todos los israelitas tenían luz en sus moradas.
24 Pharaoh then summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Go and worship the LORD. Your little ones, too, may go with you. But your flocks and herds must remain."	24 Llamó Faraón a Moisés y dijo: «Id y dad culto a Yahveh; que se queden solamente vuestras ovejas y vuestras vacadas. También vuestros pequeños podrán ir con vosotros.»
25 Moses replied, "You must also grant us sacrifices and holocausts to offer up to the LORD, our God.	25 Respondió Moisés: «Nos tienes que conceder también sacrificios y holocaustos, para que los ofrendemos a Yahveh, nuestro Dios.
26 Hence, our livestock also must go with us. Not an animal must be left behind. Some of them we must sacrifice to the LORD, our God, but we ourselves shall not know which ones we must sacrifice to him until we arrive at the place itself."	26 También nuestro ganado ha de venir con nosotros. No quedará ni una pezuña; porque de ellos hemos de tomar para dar culto a Yahveh, nuestro Dios. Y no sabemos todavía qué hemos de ofrecer a Yahveh hasta que lleguemos allá.»
27 But the LORD made Pharaoh obstinate, and he would not let them go.	27 Yahveh endureció el corazón de Faraón, que no quiso dejarles salir.
28 "Leave my presence," Pharaoh said to him, "and see to it that you do not appear before me again! The day you appear before me you shall die!"	28 Y dijo Faraón a Moisés: «¡Retírate de mi presencia! ¡Guárdate de volver a ver mi rostro, pues el día en que veas mi rostro, morirás!»
29 Moses replied, "Well said! I will never appear before you again."	29 Respondió Moisés: «Tú lo has dicho: no volveré a ver tu rostro.»
