1 He conscripted seventy thousand men to carry stone and eighty thousand to cut the stone in the mountains, and over these he placed three thousand six hundred overseers.	1 Er ließ 70000 Lastträger und 80000 Steinhauer im Gebirge auszählen und setzte 3600 Aufseher über sie.
2 Moreover, Solomon sent this message to Huram, king of Tyre: "As you dealt with my father David, sending him cedars to build a house for his dwelling, so deal with me.	2 Dann sandte er Boten zu Hiram, dem König von Tyrus, und ließ ihm sagen: Du hast meinem Vater David geholfen und ihm Zedern geliefert, damit er sich ein Haus als Wohnung bauen konnte.
3 I intend to build a house for the honor of the LORD, my God, and to consecrate it to him, for the burning of fragrant incense in his presence, for the perpetual display of the showbread, for holocausts morning and evening, and for the sabbaths, new moons, and festivals of the LORD, our God: such is Israel's perpetual obligation.	3 Ich möchte jetzt dem Namen des Herrn, meines Gottes, ein Haus bauen und es ihm weihen. Man soll wohlriechendes Räucherwerk vor ihm anzünden, ständig die Brote auflegen und jeden Morgen und jeden Abend, an den Sabbaten, Neumondtagen und Festen des Herrn, unseres Gottes, Brandopfer darbringen. So ist es Israel für ewige Zeiten zur Pflicht gemacht worden.
4 And the house I intend to build must be large, for our God is greater than all other gods.	4 Das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß werden, denn unser Gott ist größer als alle Götter.
5 Yet who is really able to build him a house, since the heavens and even the highest heavens cannot contain him? And who am I that I should build him a house, unless it be to offer incense in his presence?	5 Wer aber besitzt die Kraft, ihm ein Haus zu bauen? Der Himmel und die Himmel der Himmel fassen ihn nicht. Und wer bin ich, dass ich ihm ein Haus baue, wenn auch nur, um Rauchopfer vor ihm darzubringen?
6 Now, send me men skilled at work in gold, silver, bronze and iron, in purple, crimson, and violet fabrics, and who know how to do engraved work, to join the craftsmen who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom my father David appointed.	6 Schick mir nun einen fähigen Mann, der Arbeiten in Gold, Silber, Bronze, Eisen, rotem Purpur, Karmesin und blauem Purpur ausführen kann und sich aufs Gravieren versteht. Er soll mit den Künstlern zusammenarbeiten, die bei mir in Juda und Jerusalem sind und die mein Vater David bestellt hat.
7 Also send me boards of cedar, cypress and cabinet wood from Lebanon, for I realize that your servants know how to cut the wood of the Lebanon. My servants will labor with yours	7 Liefere mir auch Zedern, Zypressen und Algummimholz vom Libanon! Ich weiß, dass deine Leute die Bäume des Libanon zu fällen verstehen. Meine Leute sollen deinen Leuten dabei helfen.
8 in order to prepare for me a great quantity of wood, since the house I intend to build must be lofty and wonderful.	8 Sie sollen eine Menge Holz herrichten; denn das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß und wunderbar werden.
9 I will furnish as food for your servants, the hewers who cut the wood, twenty thousand kors of wheat, twenty thousand kors of barley, twenty thousand measures of wine, and twenty thousand measures of oil."	9 Den Arbeitern, die das Holz fällen, gebe ich zum Unterhalt für deine Knechte 20000 Kor Weizen, 20000 Kor Gerste, 20000 Bat Wein und 20000 Bat Öl.
10 Huram, king of Tyre, wrote an answer which he sent to Solomon: "Because the LORD loves his people, he has placed you over them as king."	10 Hiram, der König von Tyrus, antwortete Salomo in einem Schreiben, das er ihm sandte: Weil der Herr sein Volk liebt, hat er dich ihm als König gegeben.
11 He added: "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth, for having given King David a wise son of intelligence and understanding, who will build a house for the LORD and also a house for his royal estate.	11 Ferner schrieb Hiram: Gepriesen sei der Herr, der Gott Israels, der Himmel und Erde gemacht hat. Er hat dem König David einen weisen Sohn gegeben, der Einsicht und Verstand besitzt, um ein Haus für den Herrn und eine königliche Residenz für sich selbst zu bauen.
12 I am now sending you a craftsman of great skill, Huram-abi,	12 Ich schicke dir einen fähigen, klugen Mann, Hiram-Abi,
13 son of a Danite woman and of a father from Tyre; he knows how to work with gold, silver, bronze and iron, with stone and wood, with purple, violet, fine linen and crimson, and also how to do all kinds of engraved work and to devise every type of artistic work that may be given him and your craftsmen and the craftsmen of my lord David your father.	13 den Sohn einer danitischen Frau. Sein Vater stammt aus Tyrus. Er versteht es, Arbeiten in Gold, Silber, Bronze, Eisen, Stein, Holz, rotem und blauem Purpur, Byssus und Karmesin auszuführen, alle Gravierungen zu besorgen und jeden Plan zu entwerfen, der ihm aufgetragen wird. Er wird mit deinen Künstlern und den Künstlern meines Herrn, deines Vaters David, zusammenarbeiten.
14 And now, let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, oil and wine which he has promised.	14 Den Weizen, die Gerste, das Öl und den Wein, von denen mein Herr gesprochen hat, möge er seinen Knechten liefern.
15 For our part, we will cut trees on Lebanon, as many as you need, and float them down to you at the port of Joppa, whence you may take them up to Jerusalem."	15 Wir aber werden die Bäume auf dem Libanon fällen, so viele du nötig hast, und sie dir in Flößen auf dem Meer nach Jafo schaffen. Du magst sie dann nach Jerusalem hinaufbringen.
16 Thereupon Solomon took a census of all the alien men who were in the land of Israel (following the census David his father had taken of them), who were found to number one hundred fifty-three thousand six hundred.	16 Salomo ließ nun alle Fremden zählen, die im Land Israel wohnten, nachdem schon sein Vater David eine Zählung unter ihnen vorgenommen hatte. Es fanden sich 153600 Mann.
17 Of these he made seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand cutters in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred overseers to keep the people working.	17 Von diesen machte er 70000 zu Lastträgern, 80000 zu Steinhauern im Gebirge und 3600 zu Aufsehern, die das Volk zur Arbeit anhalten sollten.
