1 At that time Abijah, son of Jeroboam, took sick.	1 Por aquele tempo, Abias, filho de Jeroboão, caiu doente. Jeroboão disse à sua mulher:
2 So Jeroboam said to his wife, "Get ready and disguise yourself so that none will recognize you as Jeroboam's wife. Then go to Shiloh, where you will find the prophet Ahijah. It was he who predicted my reign over this people.	2 Disfarça-te, para que não conheçam que és minha mulher, e vai a Silo, onde está o profeta Aías, o qual me predisse que eu reinaria sobre este povo.
3 Take along ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of preserves, and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the child."	3 Toma contigo dez pães, bolos e um pote de mel, e vai ter com ele. Ele te dirá o que vai acontecer com o menino.
4 The wife of Jeroboam obeyed. She made the journey to Shiloh and entered the house of Ahijah who could not see because age had dimmed his sight.	4 Assim fez a mulher de Jeroboão: pôs-se a caminho para Silo, e foi à casa de Aías. Este já não podia ver, porque a velhice lhe tinha obscurecido os olhos.
5 The LORD had said to Ahijah: "Jeroboam's wife is coming to consult you about her son, for he is sick. This is what you must tell her. When she comes, she will be in disguise."	5 Mas o Senhor disse-lhe: Eis que aí vem a mulher de Jeroboão para consultar-te a respeito de seu filho doente. Dir-lhe-ás isto e isto. Ao chegar, ela se fará passar por outra.
6 So Ahijah, hearing the sound of her footsteps as she entered the door, said, "Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why are you in disguise? I have been commissioned to give you bitter news.	6 Ouvindo o ruído dos seus passos, ao entrar pela porta, Aías disse-lhe: Entra, mulher de Jeroboão; por que te queres fazer passar por outra? Tenho uma triste mensagem para ti.
7 Go, tell Jeroboam, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I exalted you from among the people and made you ruler of my people Israel.	7 Vai e dize a Jeroboão: Eis o que diz o Senhor, Deus de Israel: Elevei-te do meio do povo, para fazer de ti o príncipe de meu povo de Israel.
8 I deprived the house of David of the kingdom and gave it to you. Yet you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with his whole heart, doing only what pleased me.	8 Dividi o reino da casa de Davi para dar-te uma parte. Tu, porém, não seguiste o exemplo de meu servo Davi, que guardava os meus mandamentos e me seguia de todo o seu coração, fazendo sempre o que me era agradável.
9 You have done worse than all who preceded you: you have gone and made for yourself strange gods and molten images to provoke me; but me you have cast behind your back.	9 Fizeste maiores males que todos os que te precederam, e chegaste até a fazer para ti deuses estranhos e figuras fundidas, provocando a minha ira; lançaste-me para trás das costas!
10 Therefore, I am bringing evil upon the house of Jeroboam: I will cut off every male in Jeroboam's line, whether slave or freeman in Israel, and will burn up the house of Jeroboam completely, as though dung were being burned.	10 Por isso farei vir males maiores sobre a casa de Jeroboão; exterminarei de Israel toda a sua família, até o último dos varões, escravo ou livre; varrerei a casa de Jeroboão como se varre o lixo, até que não fique mais nada.
11 When one of Jeroboam's line dies in the city, dogs will devour him; when one of them dies in the field, he will be devoured by the birds of the sky. For the LORD has spoken!'	11 Todo membro da casa de Jeroboão que morrer na cidade será devorado pelos cães; e os que morrerem no campo serão comidos pelas aves do céu. É o Senhor quem o diz.
12 So leave; go home! As you step inside the city, the child will die,	12 Volta, pois, para a tua casa. Logo que puseres os pés na cidade, o menino morrerá.
13 and all Israel will mourn him and bury him, for he alone of Jeroboam's line will be laid in the grave, since in him alone of Jeroboam's house has something pleasing to the LORD, the God of Israel, been found.	13 Todo o Israel o chorará e o sepultará, porque este será o único da família de Jeroboão que terá uma sepultura, visto ter sido o único desta família em quem o Senhor, Deus de Israel, encontrou algo de bom.
14 Today, at this very moment, the LORD will raise up for himself a king of Israel who will destroy the house of Jeroboam.	14 O Senhor suscitará em Israel um rei que exterminará a casa de Jeroboão. Mas que digo? Isto já acontece!
15 The LORD will strike Israel like a reed tossed about in the water and will pluck out Israel from this good land which he gave their fathers, scattering them beyond the River, because they made sacred poles for themselves and thus provoked the LORD.	15 O Senhor vai ferir Israel. Como o caniço é levado pelas águas, assim o Senhor os tirará dessa boa terra que ele deu aos seus pais e os dispersará para além do Eufrates, porque fabricaram para si ídolos que provocam a cólera do Senhor.
16 He will give up Israel because of the sins Jeroboam has committed and caused Israel to commit."	16 O Senhor abandonará Israel, por causa dos pecados de Jeroboão, que pecou e arrastou também Israel ao seu pecado.
17 So Jeroboam's wife started back; when she reached Tirzah and crossed the threshold of her house, the child died.	17 A mulher de Jeroboão levantou-se e partiu. Ao entrar em Tersa, no momento em que entrava pela porta da casa, o menino morreu.
18 He was buried with all Israel mourning him, as the LORD had prophesied through his servant the prophet Ahijah.	18 Sepultaram-no e todo o Israel o pranteou, assim como o Senhor o predisse pelo seu servo, o profeta Aías.
19 The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, with his warfare and his reign, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.	19 O resto das ações de Jeroboão, a história de suas campanhas e de seu governo, tudo isto está consignado no livro das crônicas dos reis de Israel.
20 The length of Jeroboam's reign was twenty-two years. He rested with his ancestors, and his son Nadab succeeded him as king.	20 O seu reinado durou vinte e dois anos. Depois disso, adormeceu com seus pais, e seu filho Nadab sucedeu-lhe no trono.
21 Rehoboam, son of Solomon, reigned in Judah. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city in which, out of all the tribes of Israel, the LORD chose to be honored. His mother was the Ammonite named Naamah.	21 Roboão, filho de Salomão, reinou sobre Judá. Tinha quarenta e um anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou dezessete anos em Jerusalém, a cidade que o Senhor escolheu entre todas as tribos de Israel para ali estabelecer o seu nome. Sua mãe chamava-se Naama, a amonita.
22 Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and by their sins angered him even more than their fathers had done.	22 O povo de Judá fez o mal diante do Senhor, e com os seus pecados excitaram-lhe o zelo mais do que tinham feito os seus pais.
23 They, too, built for themselves high places, pillars, and sacred poles, upon every high hill and under every green tree.	23 Edificaram para si lugares altos, estelas e ídolos asserás sobre todas as colinas e debaixo de tudo que fosse árvore verde.
24 There were also cult prostitutes in the land. Judah imitated all the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD had cleared out of the Israelites' way.	24 Até prostitutas {sagradas} houve na terra. Imitaram todas as abominações dos povos que o Senhor tinha expulsado de diante dos israelitas.
25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, king of Egypt, attacked Jerusalem.	25 No quinto ano do reinado de Roboão, Sesac, rei do Egito, atacou Jerusalém
26 He took everything, including the treasures of the temple of the LORD and those of the royal palace, as well as all the gold shields made under Solomon.	26 e tomou os tesouros do templo do Senhor, os do palácio real, roubou tudo, até mesmo os escudos de ouro que Salomão tinha mandado fazer.
27 To replace them, King Rehoboam had bronze shields made, which he entrusted to the officers of the guard on duty at the entrance of the royal palace.	27 Em sua substituição, o rei Roboão mandou fazer escudos de bronze, e os entregou aos chefes da guarda da porta do palácio real.
28 Whenever the king visited the temple of the LORD, those on duty would carry the shields, and then return them to the guardroom.	28 Cada vez que o rei se dirigia ao templo do Senhor, os guardas levavam esses escudos; depois tornavam a colocá-los no corpo da guarda.
29 The rest of the acts of Rehoboam, with all that he did, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	29 O resto da história de Roboão e seus atos, tudo está consignado no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Judá.
30 There was constant warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.	30 Jeroboão e Roboão estiveram continuamente em hostilidades.
31 Rehoboam rested with his ancestors; he was buried with them in the City of David. His mother was the Ammonite named Naamah. His son Abijam succeeded him as king.	31 Roboão adormeceu com os seus pais e foi sepultado com eles na cidade de Davi. Sua mãe chamava-se Naama, a amonita. Seu filho Abião sucedeu-lhe no trono.
