1 Kings 14

1 At that time Abijah, son of Jeroboam, took sick.	1 En aquel tiempo, cayó enfermo Abías, hijo de Jeroboam.
2 So Jeroboam said to his wife, "Get ready and disguise yourself so that none will recognize you as Jeroboam's wife. Then go to Shiloh, where you will find the prophet Ahijah. It was he who predicted my reign over this people.	2 Entonces este dijo a su esposa: «Disfrázate para que nadie sepa que eres la mujer de Jeroboam, y ve a Silo. Allí habita Ajías, el profeta que predijo que yo reinaría sobre este pueblo.
3 Take along ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of preserves, and go to him. He will tell you what will happen to the child."	3 Toma contigo diez panes, unas tortas y un tarro de miel, y ve a su casa: él te va a anunciar que le sucederá a nuestro hijo».
4 The wife of Jeroboam obeyed. She made the journey to Shiloh and entered the house of Ahijah who could not see because age had dimmed his sight.	4 Así lo hizo la mujer de Jeroboam: partió hacia Silo y entró en la casa de Ajías. Este ya no podía ver, porque había perdido la vista a causa de su vejez.
5 The LORD had said to Ahijah: "Jeroboam's wife is coming to consult you about her son, for he is sick. This is what you must tell her. When she comes, she will be in disguise."	5 Pero el Señor le había dicho: «Mira que la mujer de Jeroboam viene a consultarte acerca de su hijo, porque está enfermo. Tú le dirás esto y esto. Cuando ella entre, se hará pasar por otra».
6 So Ahijah, hearing the sound of her footsteps as she entered the door, said, "Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why are you in disguise? I have been commissioned to give you bitter news.	6 Apenas oyó el ruido de los pasos de la mujer, mientras ella entraba por la puerta, Ajías dijo: «Entra, mujer de Jeroboam. ¿Por qué te haces pasar por otra? 7 Go, tell Jeroboam, 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I exalted you from among the people and made you ruler of my people Israel.	7 Ve y dile a Jeroboam: Así habla el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Yo te elevé de en medio del pueblo y le constituí jefe de mi pueblo Israel.
8 I deprived the house of David of the kingdom and gave it to you. Yet you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with his whole heart, doing only what pleased me.	8 Arranqué la realeza a la casa de David para dártela a ti. Pero tú no has sido como mi servidor David, que observó mis mandamientos y me siguió de todo corazón, haciendo únicamente lo que es recto a mis ojos.
9 You have done worse than all who preceded you: you have gone and made for yourself strange gods and molten images to provoke me; but me you have cast behind your back.	9 Tú, en cambio, has obrado peor que todos tus predecesores; has ido a fabricarte otros dioses, ídolos de metal fundido, para provocar mi indignación, y me has arrojado a tus espaldas.
10 Therefore, I am bringing evil upon the house of Jeroboam: I will cut off every male in Jeroboam's line, whether slave or freeman in Israel, and will burn up the house of Jeroboam completely, as though dung were being burned.	10 Por eso, yo voy a atraer la desgracia sobre la casa de Jeroboam: extirparé a la familia de Jeroboam todos los varones, esclavos o libres en Israel, y barreré hasta los últimos restos de su casa, como se barre el estiércol, bien a fondo.
11 When one of Jeroboam's line dies in the city, dogs will devour him; when one of them dies in the field, he will be devoured by the birds of the sky. For the LORD has spoken!'	11 Al de la familia de Jeroboam que muera en la ciudad, lo comerán los perros, y al que muera en descampado, lo comerán las aves del cielo, porque ha hablado el Señor.
12 So leave; go home! As you step inside the city, the child will die,	12 En cuanto a ti, vete ahora mismo a tu casa: apenas pongas tus pies en la ciudad, el niño morirá.
13 and all Israel will mourn him and bury him, for he alone of Jeroboam's line will be laid in the grave, since in him alone of Jeroboam's house has something pleasing to the LORD, the God of Israel, been found.	13 Todo Israel se lamentará por él, y le darán sepultura: él es el único en la familia de Jeroboam que entrará en una tumba, porque sólo en él se ha encontrado algo bueno para el Señor, el Dios de Israel, en la casa de Jeroboam.
14 Today, at this very moment, the LORD will raise up for himself a king of Israel who will destroy the house of Jeroboam.	14 El Señor suscitará para Israel un rey que habrá de extirpar la casa de Jeroboam.
15 The LORD will strike Israel like a reed tossed about in the water and will pluck out Israel from this good land which he gave their fathers, scattering them beyond the River, because they made sacred poles for themselves and thus provoked the LORD.	15 El Señor golpeará a Israel, y este se agitará como el junco en las aguas. Arrancará a Israel de este hermoso suelo que dio a sus padres, y los dispersará al otro lado del Río, porque erigieron sus postes sagrados, provocando así la indignación del Señor.
16 He will give up Israel because of the sins Jeroboam has committed and caused Israel to commit."	16 El entregará a Israel por los pecados que cometió Jeroboam y por los que hizo cometer a Israel».
17 So Jeroboam's wife started back; when she reached Tirzah and crossed the threshold of her house, the child died.	17 La mujer de Jeroboam partió y se fue a Tirsá. Y cuando franqueaba el umbral de su casa, murió el niño.
18 He was buried with all Israel mourning him, as the LORD had prophesied through his servant the prophet Ahijah.	18 Lo sepultaron, y todo Israel se lamentó por él, conforme a la palabra que había dicho el Señor, por medio de su servidor, el profeta Ajías.
19 The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, with his warfare and his reign, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.	19 El resto de los hechos de Jeroboam, sus batallas y su reinado, todo eso está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Israel.
20 The length of Jeroboam's reign was twenty-two years. He rested with his ancestors, and his son Nadab succeeded him as king.	20 Jeroboam reinó durante veintidós años, y se fue a descansar con sus padres. Su hijo Nadab reinó en lugar de él
21 Rehoboam, son of Solomon, reigned in Judah. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city in which, out of all the tribes of Israel, the LORD chose to be honored. His mother was the Ammonite named Naamah.	21 Roboam, hijo de Salomón, reinó en Judá, Tenía cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén, la ciudad que había elegido el Señor entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su Nombre. Su madre se llamaba Naamá, la amonita.
22 Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and by their sins angered him even more than their fathers had done.	22 Judá hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, provocando sus celos más que todos sus antepasados, con los pecados que cometieron.
23 They, too, built for themselves high places, pillars, and sacred poles, upon every high hill and under every green tree.	23 También ellos se erigieron lugares altos, piedras conmemorativas y postes sagrados, en cualquier colina elevada y bajo todo árbol frondoso.
24 There were also cult prostitutes in the land. Judah imitated all the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD had cleared out of the Israelites' way.	24 Incluso se llegó a tener en el país hombres dedicados a la prostitución sagrada. Así imitaron todas las costumbres abominables de las naciones que el Señor había desposeído delante de los israelitas.
25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak, king of Egypt, attacked Jerusalem.	25 El quinto año del reinado de Roboam, subió contra Jerusalén Sisac, rey de Egipto,
26 He took everything, including the treasures of the temple of the LORD and those of the royal palace, as well as all the gold shields made under Solomon.	26 y se apoderó de los tesoros de la Casa del Señor y de la casa del rey. Se apoderó de todo, incluso de los escudos de oro que había hecho Salomón.
27 To replace them, King Rehoboam had bronze shields made, which he entrusted to the officers of the guard on duty at the entrance of the royal palace.	27 En lugar de ellos, el rey Roboam hizo unos escudos de bronce, y se los confió a los jefes de los guardias que custodiaban el acceso a la casa del rey.

30 There was constant warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.	30 Entre Roboam y Jeroboam tuvo guerras continuas.
31 Rehoboam rested with his ancestors; he was buried with them in the City of David. His mother was the Ammonite named Naamah.
