1 All the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and said: "Here we are, your bone and your flesh.	1 Vennero poi da David in Ebron tutte le tribù d'Israele e dissero: «Noi siamo tue ossa e tua carne;
2 In days past, when Saul was our king, it was you who led the Israelites out and brought them back. And the LORD said to you, 'You shall shepherd my people Israel and shall be commander of Israel.'"	2 anche per l'addietro, quando Saul era re sopra di noi, eri tu che conducevi e riconducevi Israele; e il Signore t'ha detto: Tu pascerai il mio popolo d'Israele, tu sarai condottiero d'Israele ».
3 When all the elders of Israel came to David in Hebron, King David made an agreement with them there before the LORD, and they anointed him king of Israel.	3 Essendo adunque andati gli anziani d'Israele dal re in Ebron, il re David fece alleanza con essi in Ebron, davanti al Signore, ed essi unsero David in re sopra Israele.
4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years:	4 David aveva trent'anni quando cominciò a regnare; e regnò quarant'anni:
5 seven years and six months in Hebron over Judah, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah.	5 in Ebron, sopra Giuda, sette anni e sei mesi; in Gerusalemme, sopra tutto Israele e Giuda, trentatrè anni.
6 Then the king and his men set out for Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the region. David was told, "You cannot enter here: the blind and the lame will drive you away!" which was their way of saying, "David cannot enter here."	6 Il re andò con tutta la gente ch'era con lui, in Gerusalemme, contro i Gebusei, che abitavano nel paese. Ma essi dissero a David: « Non c'entrerai, se non levi i ciechi e gli zoppi che dicono: David non c'entrerà ».
7 But David did take the stronghold of Zion, which is the City of David.	7 Ma David prese la cittadella di Sion, che è la città di David,
8 On that day David said: "All who wish to attack the Jebusites must strike at them through the water shaft. The lame and the blind shall be the personal enemies of David." That is why it is said, "The blind and the lame shall not enter the palace."	8 perchè egli aveva in quel giorno proposto un premio a chi avesse percosso i Gebusei, avesse toccato le scanalature dei tetti, e ne avesse levati i ciechi e gli zoppi, che odiavano l'anima di David. 9 David then dwelt in the stronghold, which was called the City of David; he built up the area from Millo to the palace.	9 Poi David si stabilì nella fortezza, e la chiamò Città di David, e vi fece delle costruzioni all'intorno, a partir da Mello, e al di dentro.
10 David grew steadily more powerful, for the LORD of hosts was with him.	10 E andava sempre avanzando e crescendo, e il Signore degli eserciti era con lui.
11 Hiram, king of Tyre, sent ambassadors to David; he furnished cedar wood, as well as carpenters and masons, who built a palace for David.	11 Anche Hiram re di Tiro mandò ambasciatori a David, e legni di cedro, legnaioli, lavoratori di pietre per i muri, ed essi edificarono una casa a David.
12 And David knew that the LORD had established him as king of Israel and had exalted his rule for the sake of his people Israel.	12 E David conobbe che il Signore l'aveva confermato re sopra Israele e che aveva innalzato il regno di lui sopra il suo popolo Israele.
13 David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem after he had come from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to him in Jerusalem.	13 David poi prese anche delle concubine e delle mogli di Gerusalemme, dopo ch'era venuto da Ebron, e gli nacquero altri figli e figlie.
14 These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	14 Ecco i nomi di quelli che gli nacquero in Gerusalemme: Samua, Sobab, Natan, Salomone,
15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,	15 Iebahar, Elisua, Nefeg,

17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they all took the field in search of him. On hearing this, David went down to the refuge.	17 Avendo i Filistei inteso che David era stato unto in re sopra Israele, salirono tutti per cercare David. Ma David, avendo ciò udito, discese nella fortezza.
18 The Philistines came and overran the valley of Rephaim.	18 I Filistei vennero e si stesero nella valle dei Rafaim.
19 David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I attack the Philistines--will you deliver them into my grip?" The LORD replied to David, "Attack, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your grip."	19 Allora David consultò il Signore, dicendo: « Devo salire contro i Filistei? Li darai tu nelle mie mani? » Il Signore rispose a David: « Sali, perchè io darò e metterò nelle tue mani i Filistei ».
20 David then went to Baal-perazim, where he defeated them. He said, "The LORD has scattered my enemies before me like waters that have broken free." That is why the place is called Baal-perazim.	20 David allora andò a Baal Farasim ed ivi li percosse, e disse: « Il Signore ha disperso i miei nemici davanti a me, come si disperdono le acque ». Per questo quel luogo fu detto Baal Farasim.
21 They abandoned their gods there, and David and his men carried them away.	21 I Filistei vi lasciarono i loro idoli, che David e la sua gente portaron via.
22 But the Philistines came up again and overran the valley of Rephaim.	22 I Filistei tornarono un'altra volta e si schierarono nella Valle dei Rafaim.
23 So David inquired of the LORD, who replied: "You must not attack frontally, but circle their rear and meet them before the mastic trees.	23 David consultò il Signore: « Devo salire contro i Filistei? Li darai nelle mie mani? » Il Signore rispose: « Non salire di fronte ad essi; ma gira loro dietro e va ad attaccarli dal lato dei peri.
24 When you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mastic trees, act decisively, for the LORD will have gone forth before you to attack the camp of the Philistines."	24 Quando sentirai il rumore di uno che sembra cammini sopra le cime dei peri, allora comincerai la battaglia, perchè allora il Signore uscirà davanti a te per percuotere il campo dei Filistei».
25 David obeyed the LORD'S command and routed the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.	25 David, avendo fatto come il Signore gli aveva comandato, percosse i Filistei da Gabaa fino a Gezer.
