1 All the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and said: "Here we are, your bone and your flesh.	1 Todas las tribus de Israel se presentaron a David en Hebrón y le dijeron: «¡Nosotros somos de tu misma sangre!
2 In days past, when Saul was our king, it was you who led the Israelites out and brought them back. And the LORD said to you, 'You shall shepherd my people Israel and shall be commander of Israel.'"	2 Hace ya mucho tiempo, cuando aún teníamos como rey a Saúl, eras tú el que conducía a Israel. Y el Señor te ha dicho: «Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel y tú serás el jefe de Israel».
3 When all the elders of Israel came to David in Hebron, King David made an agreement with them there before the LORD, and they anointed him king of Israel.	3 Todos los ancianos de Israel se presentaron ante el rey en Hebrón. El rey estableció con ellos un pacto en Hebrón, delante del Señor, y ellos ungieron a David como rey de Israel.
4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years:	4 David tenía treinta años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó cuarenta años.
5 seven years and six months in Hebron over Judah, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah.	5 En Hebrón reinó siete años y seis meses sobre Judá, y en Jerusalén, treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá.
6 Then the king and his men set out for Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the region. David was told, "You cannot enter here: the blind and the lame will drive you away!" which was their way of saying, "David cannot enter here."	6 El rey avanzó con sus hombres sobre Jerusalén, contra los jebuseos que habitaban en el país. Pero estos dijeron a David: «Tú no entrarás aquí. Los ciegos y los inválidos bastarán para impedírtelo». Con esto querían decir: «David nunca podrá entrar aquí».
7 But David did take the stronghold of Zion, which is the City of David.	7 Sin embargo, David conquistó la fortaleza de Sión, es decir, la Ciudad de David.
8 On that day David said: "All who wish to attack the Jebusites must strike at them through the water shaft. The lame and the blind shall be the personal enemies of David." That is why it is said, "The blind and the lame shall not enter the palace."	8 Aquel día, él había dicho: «El que quiera derrotar a los jebuseos, que se meta por el canal. En cuanto a los ciegos y a los inválidos, David siente aversión por ellos». Por eso se dice: «El ciego y el lisiado no entrarán en la Casa».
9 David then dwelt in the stronghold, which was called the City of David; he built up the area from Millo to the palace.	9 David se instaló en la fortaleza, y la llamó Ciudad de David. Luego construyó la ciudad en derredor, desde el Terraplén hacia el interior.
10 David grew steadily more powerful, for the LORD of hosts was with him.	10 Así David se iba engrandeciendo cada vez más, y el Señor, el Dios de los ejércitos, estaba con él.
11 Hiram, king of Tyre, sent ambassadors to David; he furnished cedar wood, as well as carpenters and masons, who built a palace for David.	11 Jiram, rey de Tiro, envió una embajada a David, con madera de cedro, carpinteros y talladores de piedra, para que le edificaran una casa.
12 And David knew that the LORD had established him as king of Israel and had exalted his rule for the sake of his people Israel.	12 David reconoció entonces que el Señor lo había confirmado como rey de Israel y que había enaltecido su realeza por amor a su pueblo Israel.
13 David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem after he had come from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to him in Jerusalem.	13 David tomó otras concubinas y esposas después que llegó a Hebrón, y le nacieron más hijos e hijas.
14 These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	14 Estos son los nombres de los hijos que tuvo en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,
15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,	15 Ibjar, Elisúa, Néfeg, Iafía,

17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they all took the field in search of him. On hearing this, David went down to the refuge.	17 Cuando los filisteos oyeron que habían ungido a David rey de Israel, subieron todos para atacarlo. David se enteró y bajó al refugio.
18 The Philistines came and overran the valley of Rephaim.	18 Los filisteos llegaron y se desplegaron en el valle de Refaím.
19 David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I attack the Philistines--will you deliver them into my grip?" The LORD replied to David, "Attack, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your grip."	19 Entonces David consultó al Señor, diciendo: «¿Debo subir contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos?». El Señor respondió a David: «Sube, porque ciertamente pondré a los filisteos en tus manos».
20 David then went to Baal-perazim, where he defeated them. He said, "The LORD has scattered my enemies before me like waters that have broken free." That is why the place is called Baal-perazim.	20 En seguida David se dirigió hacia Baal Perasím, y allí los derrotó, David dijo: «El Señor ha abierto ante mí una brecha entre mis enemigos, como una brecha abierta por las aguas».
21 They abandoned their gods there, and David and his men carried them away.	21 Como los filisteos habían abandonado allí sus ídolos, David y sus hombres se los llevaron.
22 But the Philistines came up again and overran the valley of Rephaim.	22 Luego los filisteos subieron una vez más, y se desplegaron por el valle de Refaím.
23 So David inquired of the LORD, who replied: "You must not attack frontally, but circle their rear and meet them before the mastic trees.	23 David consultó al Señor, y él respondió: «No subas de frente; da una vuelta por detrás de ellos, y atácalos por el lado de las moreras.
24 When you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mastic trees, act decisively, for the LORD will have gone forth before you to attack the camp of the Philistines."	24 Cuando oigas un ruido como de pasos por las copas de las moreras, irrumpe decididamente, porque entonces el Señor saldrá delante de ti para derrotar el campamento de los filisteos».
25 David obeyed the LORD'S command and routed the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.	25 David lo hizo tal como se lo había ordenado el Señor, y derrotó a los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta la entrada de Guezer.
