1 All the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and said: "Here we are, your bone and your flesh.	1 Alle Stämme Israels kamen zu David nach Hebron und sagten: Wir sind doch dein Fleisch und Bein.
2 In days past, when Saul was our king, it was you who led the Israelites out and brought them back. And the LORD said to you, 'You shall shepherd my people Israel and shall be commander of Israel.'"	2 Schon früher, als noch Saul unser König war, bist du es gewesen, der Israel in den Kampf und wieder nach Hause geführt hat. Der Herr hat zu dir gesagt: Du sollst der Hirt meines Volkes Israel sein, du sollst Israels Fürst werden.
3 When all the elders of Israel came to David in Hebron, King David made an agreement with them there before the LORD, and they anointed him king of Israel.	3 Alle Ältesten Israels kamen zum König nach Hebron; der König David schloss mit ihnen in Hebron einen Vertrag vor dem Herrn und sie salbten David zum König von Israel.
4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years:	4 David war dreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte vierzig Jahre lang.
5 seven years and six months in Hebron over Judah, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah.	5 In Hebron war er sieben Jahre und sechs Monate König von Juda und in Jerusalem war er dreiunddreißig Jahre König von ganz Israel und Juda.
6 Then the king and his men set out for Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the region. David was told, "You cannot enter here: the blind and the lame will drive you away!" which was their way of saying, "David cannot enter here."	6 Der König zog mit seinen Männern nach Jerusalem gegen die Jebusiter, die in dieser Gegend wohnten. Die Jebusiter aber sagten zu David: Du kommst hier nicht herein; die Blinden und Lahmen werden dich vertreiben. Das sollte besagen: David wird hier nicht eindringen.
7 But David did take the stronghold of Zion, which is the City of David.	7 Dennoch eroberte David die Burg Zion; sie wurde die Stadt Davids.
8 On that day David said: "All who wish to attack the Jebusites must strike at them through the water shaft. The lame and the blind shall be the personal enemies of David." That is why it is said, "The blind and the lame shall not enter the palace."	8 David sagte an jenem Tag: Jeder, der den Schacht erreicht, soll die Jebusiter erschlagen, auch die Lahmen und Blinden, die David in der Seele verhasst sind. Daher sagt man: Ein Blinder und ein Lahmer kommt nicht ins Haus.
9 David then dwelt in the stronghold, which was called the City of David; he built up the area from Millo to the palace.	9 David ließ sich in der Burg nieder und nannte sie die Stadt Davids. Und David begann ringsum zu bauen, und zwar vom Millo an bis zur Burg.
10 David grew steadily more powerful, for the LORD of hosts was with him.	10 David wurde immer mächtiger und der Herr, der Gott der Heere, war mit ihm.
11 Hiram, king of Tyre, sent ambassadors to David; he furnished cedar wood, as well as carpenters and masons, who built a palace for David.	11 Hiram, der König von Tyrus, schickte eine Gesandtschaft zu David und ließ ihm Zedernholz überbringen; auch Zimmerleute und Steinmetzen schickte er und sie bauten für David einen Palast.
12 And David knew that the LORD had established him as king of Israel and had exalted his rule for the sake of his people Israel.	12 So erkannte David, dass der Herr ihn als König von Israel bestätigt hatte und dass der Herr sein Königtum wegen seines Volkes Israel zu hohem Ansehen gebracht hatte.
13 David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem after he had come from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to him in Jerusalem.	13 Als David von Hebron gekommen war, nahm er sich noch Nebenfrauen, auch Frauen aus Jerusalem. So wurden ihm noch mehr Söhne und Töchter geboren.
14 These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	14 Das sind die Namen der Söhne, die ihm in Jerusalem geboren wurden: Schima, Schobab, Natan, Salomo,
15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,	15 Jibhar, Elischua, Nefeg, Jafia,
16 Elishama, Baaliada, and Eliphelet.	16 Elischama, Eljada und Elifelet.
17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they all took the field in search of him. On hearing this, David went down to the refuge.	17 Die Philister hörten, dass man David zum König von Israel gesalbt hatte. Da zogen alle herauf, um David gefangen zu nehmen. David erfuhr davon und zog sich in eine Bergfestung zurück.
18 The Philistines came and overran the valley of Rephaim.	18 Als die Philister herankamen und in der Rafaïterebene umherstreiften,
19 David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I attack the Philistines--will you deliver them into my grip?" The LORD replied to David, "Attack, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your grip."	19 befragte David den Herrn; er sagte: Soll ich die Philister angreifen? Wirst du sie in meine Hand geben? Der Herr antwortete David: Greif sie an; denn ich werde die Philister bestimmt in deine Hand geben.
20 David then went to Baal-perazim, where he defeated them. He said, "The LORD has scattered my enemies before me like waters that have broken free." That is why the place is called Baal-perazim.	20 Da zog David nach Baal- Perazim. Dort schlug er die Philister und sagte: Der Herr hat die Reihen meiner Feinde vor meinen Augen durchbrochen, wie Wasser (einen Damm) durchbricht. Deshalb nennt man jenen Ort Baal-Perazim (Herr der Durchbrüche).
21 They abandoned their gods there, and David and his men carried them away.	21 Die Philister ließen dort ihre Götterbilder zurück, sodass David und seine Männer sie mitnehmen konnten.
22 But the Philistines came up again and overran the valley of Rephaim.	22 Doch die Philister zogen noch einmal herauf und streiften in der Rafaïterebene umher.
23 So David inquired of the LORD, who replied: "You must not attack frontally, but circle their rear and meet them before the mastic trees.	23 David befragte wieder den Herrn und der Herr antwortete ihm: Zieh nicht hinauf, umgeh sie in ihrem Rücken und komm von den Baka-Bäumen her an sie heran!
24 When you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mastic trees, act decisively, for the LORD will have gone forth before you to attack the camp of the Philistines."	24 Wenn du dann in den Wipfeln der Baka-Bäume ein Geräusch wie von Schritten hörst, dann beeil dich; denn dann geht der Herr vor dir her, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.
25 David obeyed the LORD'S command and routed the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.	25 David tat, was der Herr ihm befohlen hatte, und er schlug die Philister (im ganzen Gebiet) zwischen Geba und der Gegend von Geser.
