1 All the tribes of Israel came to David in Hebron and said: "Here we are, your bone and your flesh.	1 Tutte le tribù d'Israele andarono da Davide a Ebron e dissero: "Eccoci, noi siamo tue ossa e tua carne!
2 In days past, when Saul was our king, it was you who led the Israelites out and brought them back. And the LORD said to you, 'You shall shepherd my people Israel and shall be commander of Israel.'"	2 Anche per il passato, quando Saul era nostro re, eri tu che guidavi Israele. Il Signore ti ha detto: "Tu pascerai Israele, mio popolo, tu sarai principe su Israele".
3 When all the elders of Israel came to David in Hebron, King David made an agreement with them there before the LORD, and they anointed him king of Israel.	3 Allora tutti gli anziani d'Israele andarono dal re a Ebron; il re Davide fece con loro un'alleanza alla presenza del Signore in Ebron, ed essi consacrarono Davide re su Israele.
4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years:	4 Davide aveva trent'anni quando diventò re e regnò quarant'anni.
5 seven years and six months in Hebron over Judah, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah.	5 A Ebron regnò su Giuda sette anni e sei mesi, e a Gerusalemme regnò trentatré anni su tutto Israele e su Giuda.
6 Then the king and his men set out for Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the region. David was told, "You cannot enter here: the blind and the lame will drive you away!" which was their way of saying, "David cannot enter here."	6 Il re marciò con i suoi uomini verso Gerusalemme contro i Gebusei che abitavano la regione. Fu detto a Davide: "Non entrerai, ma i ciechi e gli zoppi ti cacceranno"; volevano dire: "Davide non entrerà qui".
7 But David did take the stronghold of Zion, which is the City of David.	7 Ma Davide occupò la fortezza di Sion, che è la Città di Davide.
8 On that day David said: "All who wish to attack the Jebusites must strike at them through the water shaft. The lame and the blind shall be the personal enemies of David." That is why it is said, "The blind and the lame shall not enter the palace."	8 In quel giorno Davide aveva detto: "Chiunque vuol battere il Gebuseo, lo raggiunga per il canale... Gli zoppi e i ciechi sono odiati da Davide...". Per questo motivo si dice: "Né cieco né zoppo entrerà nella casa!".
9 David then dwelt in the stronghold, which was called the City of David; he built up the area from Millo to the palace.	9 Davide si stabilì nella fortezza e la chiamò "Città di Davide". Davide poi vi fece costruzioni all'intorno, dal Millo verso l'interno.
10 David grew steadily more powerful, for the LORD of hosts was with him.	10 Davide diventava sempre più grande, perché il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, era con lui.
11 Hiram, king of Tyre, sent ambassadors to David; he furnished cedar wood, as well as carpenters and masons, who built a palace for David.	11 Chiram, re di Tiro, mandò a Davide ambasciatori, legname di cedro, falegnami e lavoratori della pietra da costruzione, i quali edificarono una casa a Davide.
12 And David knew that the LORD had established him as king of Israel and had exalted his rule for the sake of his people Israel.	12 Davide comprese che il Signore l'aveva consolidato re su Israele e che aveva innalzato il suo regno per amore d'Israele suo popolo.
13 David took more concubines and wives in Jerusalem after he had come from Hebron, and more sons and daughters were born to him in Jerusalem.	13 Dopo la sua venuta da Ebron, Davide prese altre concubine e mogli di Gerusalemme e gli nacquero altri figli e figlie.
14 These are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	14 Questi sono i nomi dei figli che gli nacquero a Gerusalemme: Sammùa, Sobàb, Natan, Salomone,

17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they all took the field in search of him. On hearing this, David went down to the refuge.	17 I Filistei, udito che Davide era stato consacrato re su Israele, salirono tutti quanti alla caccia di Davide, ma egli, appena lo seppe, discese alla fortezza.
18 The Philistines came and overran the valley of Rephaim.	18 I Filistei arrivarono e si sparsero nella valle dei Rèfaim.
19 David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I attack the Philistines--will you deliver them into my grip?" The LORD replied to David, "Attack, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your grip."	19 Davide consultò il Signore dicendo: "Devo salire contro i Filistei? Li darai in mio potere?". Il Signore rispose a Davide: "Sali! Darò certamente i Filistei in tuo potere".
20 David then went to Baal-perazim, where he defeated them. He said, "The LORD has scattered my enemies before me like waters that have broken free." That is why the place is called Baal-perazim.	20 Davide andò dunque a Baal-Perazìm e li batté in quel luogo, esclamando: "Il Signore ha aperto una breccia tra i miei nemici davanti a me come una breccia aperta dall'acqua". Per questo quel luogo fu chiamato Baal-Perazìm.
21 They abandoned their gods there, and David and his men carried them away.	21 I Filistei abbandonarono là i loro idoli e Davide e i suoi uomini li raccolsero.
22 But the Philistines came up again and overran the valley of Rephaim.	22 I Filistei salirono una seconda volta e si sparsero nella valle dei Rèfaim.
23 So David inquired of the LORD, who replied: "You must not attack frontally, but circle their rear and meet them before the mastic trees.	23 Davide consultò il Signore che gli rispose: "Non salire! Aggirali alle spalle e li raggiungerai dalla parte dei Balsami.
24 When you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mastic trees, act decisively, for the LORD will have gone forth before you to attack the camp of the Philistines."	24 Quando udrai il rumore di passi sulle cime dei Balsami, allora darai l'assalto, perché in quel momento il Signore uscirà davanti a te per sconfiggere il campo dei Filistei".
25 David obeyed the LORD'S command and routed the Philistines from Gibeon as far as Gezer.	25 Davide fece come il Signore gli aveva ordinato e batté i Filistei da Gàbaa fino all'imbocco di Ghezer.
