1 When Ishbaal, son of Saul, heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he ceased to resist and all Israel was alarmed.	1 Lorsque le fils deSaül apprit qu'Abner était mort à Hébron, les mains lui tombèrent et tout Israël fut consterné.
2 Ishbaal, son of Saul, had two company leaders named Baanah and Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the tribe of Benjamin. (Beeroth, too, was ascribed to Benjamin:	2 Or le fils de Saül avait deux chefs de bandes, qui s'appelaient l'un Baana et le second Rékab. Ilsétaient les fils de Rimmôn de Béérot et Benjaminites, car Béérot aussi est attribuée à Benjamin.
3 the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, where they have been resident aliens to this day.	3 Les gens de Béérot s'étaient réfugiés à Gittayim, où ils sont demeurés jusqu'à ce jour commerésidents étrangers.
4 Jonathan, son of Saul, had a son named Meribbaal with crippled feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled. But in their hasty flight, he fell and became lame.)	4 Il y avait un fils de Jonathan, fils de Saül, qui était perclus des deux pieds. Il avait cinq anslorsqu'arriva de Yizréel la nouvelle concernant Saül et Jonathan. Sa nourrice l'emporta et s'enfuit, mais dans laprécipitation de la fuite, l'enfant tomba et s'estropia. Il s'appelait Meribbaal.
5 The sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, came into the house of Ishbaal during the heat of the day, while he was taking his siesta.	5 Les fils de Rimmôn de Béérot, Rékab et Baana, s'étant mis en route, arrivèrent à l'heure la pluschaude du jour à la maison d'Ishbaal, quand celui-ci faisait la sieste.
6 The portress of the house had dozed off while sifting wheat, and was asleep. So Rechab and his brother Baanah slipped past	6 La portière, qui mondait du blé, s'était assoupie et dormait. Rékab et son frère Baana se faufilèrent
7 and entered the house while Ishbaal was lying asleep in his bedroom. They struck and killed him, and cut off his head. Then, taking the head, they traveled on the Arabah road all night long.	7 et entrèrent dans la maison, où il était étendu sur le lit dans sa chambre à coucher. Ils le frappèrentà mort et le décapitèrent, puis, emportant sa tête, ils marchèrent toute la nuit par la route de la Araba.
8 They brought the head of Ishbaal to David in Hebron and said to the king: "This is the head of Ishbaal, son of your enemy Saul, who sought your life. Thus has the LORD this day avenged my lord the king on Saul and his posterity."	8 Ils apportèrent la tête d'Ishbaal à David, à Hébron, et dirent au roi: "Voici la tête d'Ishbaal, fils deSaül, ton ennemi qui en voulait à ta vie. Yahvé a accordé aujourd'hui à Monseigneur le roi une vengeance surSaül et sur sa race."
9 But David replied to Rechab and his brother Baanah, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite: "As the LORD lives, who rescued me from all difficulty,	9 Mais David, s'adressant à Rékab et à son frère Baana, les fils de Rimmôn de Béérot, leur dit: "Parla vie de Yahvé, qui m'a délivré de toute détresse!
10 in Ziklag I seized and put to death the man who informed me of Saul's death, thinking himself the bearer of good news for which I ought to give him a reward.	10 Celui qui m'a annoncé la mort de Saül croyait être porteur d'une bonne nouvelle, et je l'ai saisi etexécuté à Ciqlag, pour le payer de sa bonne nouvelle!
11 How much more now, when wicked men have slain an innocent man in bed at home, must I hold you responsible for his death and destroy you from the earth!"	11 A plus forte raison lorsque des bandits ont tué un homme honnête dans sa maison, sur son lit! Nedois-je pas vous demander compte de son sang et vous faire disparaître de la terre?"
12 So at a command from David, the young men killed them and cut off their hands and feet, hanging them up near the pool in Hebron. But he took the head of Ishbaal and buried it in Abner's grave in Hebron.	12 Alors David donna un ordre aux cadets et ceux-ci les mirent à mort. On leur coupa les mains etles pieds et on les suspendit près de l'étang d'Hébron. Quant à la tête d'Ishbaal, on la prit et on l'ensevelit dans letombeau d'Abner à Hébron.
