1 When Ishbaal, son of Saul, heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he ceased to resist and all Israel was alarmed.	1 Cuando el hijo de Saúl se enteró de que Abner había muerto en Hebrón, quedó muy desalentado, y todo Israel fue presa del pánico.
2 Ishbaal, son of Saul, had two company leaders named Baanah and Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the tribe of Benjamin. (Beeroth, too, was ascribed to Benjamin:	2 Ahora bien, el hijo de Saúl tenía dos jefes de bandas armadas; uno se llamaba Baaná y el otro Recab, hijos de Rimón de Beerot, y eran benjaminitas, porque a Beerot también se la consideraba parte de Benjamín.
3 the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, where they have been resident aliens to this day.	3 Los de Beerot habían huido a Guitaim, y allí han residido como forasteros hasta el día de hoy.
4 Jonathan, son of Saul, had a son named Meribbaal with crippled feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled. But in their hasty flight, he fell and became lame.)	4 Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, tenía un hijo lisiado de ambos pies. Este era un niño de cinco años cuando llegó a Izreel la noticia de la muerte de Saúl y Jonatán. Su niñera lo tomó consigo y huyó; pero lo hizo con tanta precipitación, que el niño se cayó y quedó rengo. Su nombre era Meribaal.
5 The sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, came into the house of Ishbaal during the heat of the day, while he was taking his siesta.	5 Recab y Baaná, los hijos de Rimón de Beerot, se pusieron en camino, y a la hora de más calor llegaron a la casa de Isbaal, que estaba durmiendo la siesta.
6 The portress of the house had dozed off while sifting wheat, and was asleep. So Rechab and his brother Baanah slipped past	6 Se introdujeron en el interior de la casa, como si estuvieran llevando trigo, e hirieron a Isbaal en el bajo vientre. Luego se pusieron a salvo.
7 and entered the house while Ishbaal was lying asleep in his bedroom. They struck and killed him, and cut off his head. Then, taking the head, they traveled on the Arabah road all night long.	7 Al entrar en la casa, mientras Isbaal estaba acostado en el lecho de su dormitorio, Recab y su hermano Baaná lo habían herido mortalmente y le habían cortado la cabeza. Después se llevaron la cabeza y marcharon toda la noche por el camino de la Arabá.
8 They brought the head of Ishbaal to David in Hebron and said to the king: "This is the head of Ishbaal, son of your enemy Saul, who sought your life. Thus has the LORD this day avenged my lord the king on Saul and his posterity."	8 Así presentaron a David, en Hebrón, la cabeza de Isbaal y dijeron al rey: «Aquí está la cabeza de Isbaal, hijo de Saúl, tu enemigo, el que intentó matarte. El Señor ha permitido hoy que mi señor, el rey, se vengara de Saúl y de su descendencia».
9 But David replied to Rechab and his brother Baanah, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite: "As the LORD lives, who rescued me from all difficulty,	9 Pero David respondió a Recab y a su hermano Baaná, los hijos de Rimón de Beerot: «¡Por la vida del Señor, que me libró de todo peligro!
10 in Ziklag I seized and put to death the man who informed me of Saul's death, thinking himself the bearer of good news for which I ought to give him a reward.	10 Al que me anunció que había muerto Saúl, creyendo ser portador de una buena noticia, lo tomé y lo ajusticié en Siquelag, pagándole así esa buena noticia.
11 How much more now, when wicked men have slain an innocent man in bed at home, must I hold you responsible for his death and destroy you from the earth!"	11 Con mucha más razón, ahora que unos hombres malvados han matado a un inocente en su propia casa y sobre su lecho, ¿no tendré que pedirles cuenta de su sangre y borrarlos de la tierra?».
12 So at a command from David, the young men killed them and cut off their hands and feet, hanging them up near the pool in Hebron. But he took the head of Ishbaal and buried it in Abner's grave in Hebron.	12 Entonces David dio una orden a los jóvenes, y ellos los mataron. Luego les cortaron las manos y los pies, y los colgaron junto a la cisterna de Hebrón. En cuanto a la cabeza de Isbaal, la recogieron y la enterraron en la tumba de Abner, en Hebrón.
