1 When Ishbaal, son of Saul, heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he ceased to resist and all Israel was alarmed.	1 Le fils de Saül apprit qu’Abner était mort à Hébron; les bras lui en tombèrent et tout Israël trembla.
2 Ishbaal, son of Saul, had two company leaders named Baanah and Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the tribe of Benjamin. (Beeroth, too, was ascribed to Benjamin:	2 Le fils de Saül avait deux chefs de bande, deux fils de Rimmon de Béérot: l’un s’appelait Baana et le second s’appelait Rékab. (Ils étaient de la tribu de Benjamin, car Béérot fait partie du territoire de Benjamin.
3 the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, where they have been resident aliens to this day.	3 Les gens de Béérot s’étaient réfugiés à Gittayim et ils étaient restés là jusqu’à ce jour.)
4 Jonathan, son of Saul, had a son named Meribbaal with crippled feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled. But in their hasty flight, he fell and became lame.)	4 Il y avait là un fils de Jonathan, fils de Saül, qui était infirme des deux pieds. 5 The sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, came into the house of Ishbaal during the heat of the day, while he was taking his siesta.	5 Les fils de Rimmon de Béérot, Rékab et Baana, partirent pour la maison d’Ichbaal: ils arrivèrent au plus chaud du jour tandis que celui-ci faisait la sieste.
6 The portress of the house had dozed off while sifting wheat, and was asleep. So Rechab and his brother Baanah slipped past	6 La femme qui gardait la porte s’était assoupie et endormie tandis qu’elle triait son blé. Rékab et son frère Baana entrèrent discrètement,
7 and entered the house while Ishbaal was lying asleep in his bedroom. They struck and killed him, and cut off his head. Then, taking the head, they traveled on the Arabah road all night long.	7 ils pénétrèrent dans la maison et trouvèrent Ichbaal étendu sur son lit dans la chambre à coucher. Ils le frappèrent et lui coupèrent la tête, puis toute la nuit ils marchèrent par la route de la Araba, emportant sa tête.
8 They brought the head of Ishbaal to David in Hebron and said to the king: "This is the head of Ishbaal, son of your enemy Saul, who sought your life. Thus has the LORD this day avenged my lord the king on Saul and his posterity."	8 Ils apportèrent la tête d’Ichbaal à David, à Hébron, et ils dirent au roi: “Voici la tête d’Ichbaal, le fils de ton ennemi Saül qui en voulait à ta vie. Aujourd’hui Yahvé a vengé mon seigneur le roi, de Saül et de sa race.”
9 But David replied to Rechab and his brother Baanah, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite: "As the LORD lives, who rescued me from all difficulty,	9 Mais David répondit à Rékab et à son frère Baana, fils de Rimmon de Béérot: “Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, lui qui m’a délivré de toutes mes détresses,
10 in Ziklag I seized and put to death the man who informed me of Saul's death, thinking himself the bearer of good news for which I ought to give him a reward.	10 lorsqu’un homme est venu me trouver avec cette nouvelle: Saül est mort! il se croyait porteur d’une bonne nouvelle, mais je l’ai fait arrêter et tuer à Siklag, alors que j’aurais pu le récompenser pour cette bonne nouvelle.
11 How much more now, when wicked men have slain an innocent man in bed at home, must I hold you responsible for his death and destroy you from the earth!"	11 À plus forte raison lorsque des malfaiteurs ont tué un homme droit dans sa maison tandis qu’il dormait; je vais vous faire payer le sang que vous avez versé, je vais vous balayer de la terre!”
12 So at a command from David, the young men killed them and cut off their hands and feet, hanging them up near the pool in Hebron. But he took the head of Ishbaal and buried it in Abner's grave in Hebron.	12 David donna des ordres aux jeunes gens qui étaient présents et on les mit à mort. Ensuite on leur coupa les mains et les pieds et on les attacha au-dessus de la piscine d’Hébron. On prit alors la tête d’Ichbaal et on la déposa dans le tombeau d’Abner à Hébron.
