Geremia 23

1 Guai contro i pastori, che dispergono, e lacerano il gregge del mio ovile, dice il Signore.	1 “Woe to the shepherds who scatter and tear apart the sheep of my pasture, says the Lord.
2 Per questo così parla il Signore Dio d'Israele ai pastori, che pascono il mio popolo: Voi avete disperso il mio gregge, e avete cacciato fuora, e non lo avete visitato: ecco, che io visiterò voi a motivo della malvagità delle vostre inclinazioni, dice il Signore.	2 Because of this, thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to the shepherds who pasture my people: You have scattered my flock, and you have driven them away, and you have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you because of your evil pursuits, says the Lord.
3 Ed io raunerò gli avanzi del gregge mio da tutte le terre, dov'io gli avrò cacciati, e farolli tornare alle loro possessioni; e cresceranno, e moltiplicheranno	3 And I will gather together the remnant of my flock from the entire earth, from the places to which I had cast them out. And I will return them to their own fields. And they will increase and be multiplied.
4 E faro sorgere per essi dei pastori, o che li pasceranno: Non avranno più umori, né paure: e de loro numero, non mancherà veruno, dice il Signore	4 And I will raise up shepherds over them, and they will pasture them. They will no longer dread, and they will no longer fear. And no one among their number will be seeking more, says the Lord.
5 Ecco, che vengono i giorni, dice il Signore, ed io susciterò a Davidde un Germe giusto, e regnerà come re, e sarà sapiente, e renderà ragione, e farà giustizia in terra.	5 Behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch. And a king will reign, and he will be wise. And he will exercise judgment and justice upon the earth.
6 In que' giorni Giuda avrà salute; e Israele viverà tranquillo: e questo è il nome, col quale egli sarà chiamato: Il Giusto Signore nostro.	6 In those days, Judah will be saved, and Israel will live in confidence. And this is the name that they will call him: ‘The Lord, our Just One.’
7 Per questo verrà tempo, dice il Signore, quando non diran più: Vive il Signore, che trasse i figliuoli d'Israele dalla terra d'Egitto,	7 Because of this, behold, the days are approaching, says the Lord, when they will no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives, who led the sons of Israel away from the land of Egypt,’
8 Ma (diranno): Vive il Signore, il quale ha tratto, ed ha condotto il seme ella casa d'Israele dalla terra di settentrione, e da tutte le terre, pelle quali io lo avea disperso, e abiteranno la loro terra.	8 but instead, ‘As the Lord lives, who led away and brought back the offspring of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from the entire earth,’ from the places to which I had cast them out. And they will live in their own land.”
9 Quanto ai profeti: Il mio cuore è spezzato dentro di me, tutte le mie ossa sono in fremito: son diventato come un ubbriaco, e come uomo zuppo di vino alla considerazione del Signore, e alla considerazione delle sue sante parole.	9 To the prophets: “My heart is crushed within me. All my bones are trembling. I have become like an inebriated man, and like a man maddened by wine, before the face of the Lord, and before the face of his holy words.
10 Perchè piena è la terra di adulteri, perchè a motivo delle bestemmie la terra è in lutto; sono arsi i campi del deserto: il corso loro è cattivo, e sono forti non per la giustizia;	10 For the earth is full of adulterers! And the earth has mourned before the face of evil talk. The plains of the desert have dried up, and their course has become hazardous, and their firmness has become uneven.”
11 Imperocché e il profeta, e il sacerdote sono immondi: e nella casa mia ho trovata la loro malvagità, dice il Signore.	11 “For both the prophet and the priest have become polluted, and I have found their wickedness within my own house, says the Lord.
12 Per questo il loro cammino sarà quasi per istrada sdrucciola al buio perocché inciamperanno, e vi caderanno: dappoiché io farò venire sciagure sopra di essi, il tempo di lor punizione, dice il Signore.	12 For this reason, their way will be like a slippery path in the dark. For they will be impelled forward, and they will fall in it. For I will bring evils over them, in the year of their visitation, says the Lord.
13 Come io vidi ne' profeti di Samaria l'insensataggine: profetavano nel nome di Baal, e ignannavano il mio popolo d'Israele;	13 And I have seen the foolishness of the prophets of Samaria. They have prophesied in Baal, and they have deceived my people Israel.
14 Così i profeti di Gerusalemme gli ho veduti imitare gli adulteri, e seguir la menzogna: ed eglino han fatto coraggio alla turba de' malvagi, affinchè non si convertisse ciascheduno di essi dalla loro malvagità: son diventati per me come Sodoma, e gli abitatori di lei come Gomorra.	14 And in the prophets of Jerusalem, I have seen the likeness of adulterers and the path of falsehood. And they have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that each one would not convert from his malice. They have all become to me like Sodom, and its inhabitants have become like Gomorrah.”
15 Per questo così parla il Signore degli eserciti ai profeti: Io li ciberò di assenzio, e gli abbevererò col fiele: imperocché da' profeti di Gerusalemme si e sparsa l'immondezza per tutta la terra.	15 Because of this, thus says the Lord of hosts to the prophets: “Behold, I will feed them absinthe, and I will give them gall to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem corruption has gone forth over the entire earth.”
16 Queste cose dice il Signor degli eserciti: Non ascoltate le parole de' profeti, i quali profetizzano a voi, e vi gabbano: pronunziano le visioni del loro cuore, e non parole della bocca del Signore.	16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not choose to listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you and deceive you. They speak a vision from their own heart, and not from the mouth of the Lord.
17 Essi dicono a coloro, che mi bestemmiano: Il Signore ha parlato: Voi avrete pace: e tutti coloro, che seguono il depravato lor cuore, han detto: Non verrà sciagura sopra di voi.	17 To those who blaspheme me, they say: ‘The Lord has said: You shall have peace.’ And to every one who walks in the depravity of his own heart, they have said: ‘No evil will overwhelm you.’ ”
18 Ma, e chi assistè al consiglio del Signore, e lo vide, e udì il suo parlare? chi penetrò la Parola di lui, e la comprese?	18 For who has been present in the counsel of the Lord, and who has seen and heard his word? Who has considered his word and heard it?
19 Ecco, che il turbine dello sdegno del Signore scapperà fuora, e la tempesta, rotto ogni argine, verrà sulla testa degli empj.	19 Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord’s indignation will go forth, and a tempest will break out; it will overwhelm the head of the impious.
20 Non cesserà il furor del Signore, fino a tanto che abbia eseguiti, e adempiuti i disegni della mente di lui. Il consiglio di lui lo comprenderete voi negli ultimi giorni.	20 The fury of the Lord will not return until it succeeds, and until it completes the plan of his heart. In the last days, you will understand this counsel.
21 Io non mandava questi profeti, ed ei correvano: io non parlava ad essi, ed eglino profetavano.	21 “I did not send these prophets, yet they hurry forward. I was not speaking to them, yet they were prophesying.
22 Se fossero intervenuti al mio consiglio, e avessero intimate al mio popolo le mie parole, gli avrei certamente convertiti dalla mala lor vita, e dalle pessime loro inclinazioni.	22 If they had stood in my counsel, and if I had made my words known to my people, certainly I would have turned them away from their evil ways and from their most wicked plans.
23 Credi tu, ch'io sia Dio da vicino (dice il Signore), e non Dio da lontano?	23 Do you not realize that I am a God close by, says the Lord, and not a God far away?
24 Potrà forse occultarsi un uomo ne' suoi nascondigli, sicché io non lo vegga, dice il Signore? Non empio forse io il cielo, e la terra, dice il Signore?	24 If a man is hidden in concealed places, do I not see him, says the Lord? Do I not fill up heaven and earth, says the Lord?
25 Ho udito quello, che dicono i profeti, che profetizzano nel nome mio la menzogna, e dicono: Ho sognato: ho sognato.	25 I have heard what the prophets have said, prophesying falsehoods in my name, and also saying: ‘I have dreamed! I have dreamed!’
26 E fino a quando avranno ciò in cuore i profeti, che profetizzano menzogne, e annunziano le seduzioni del loro cuore?	26 How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who predict what is false, and who prophesy deceptions from their own heart?
27 I quali voglion far sì, che si scordi del nome mio il mio popolo, per dar retta a' sogni, che ognuno di essi racconta al suo prossimo: come del nome mio si scordarono i padri loro per amore di Baal.	27 They want to cause my people to forget my name, by means of their dreams, which each of them describes to his neighbor, just as their fathers forgot my name for the sake of Baal.
28 Il profeta, che sogna, racconti il sogno: e chi è depositario di mia parola, annunzi la Parola mia con verità: che han da fare col grano le paglie, dice il Signore?	28 The prophet who has had a dream, let him describe the dream. And he who receives my word, let him speak my word in truth. For what has the chaff to do with the wheat, says the Lord?
29 Non son' elleno le mie parole come il fuoco, dice il Signore, e come martello, che stritola il sasso?	29 Are not my words like a fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer crushing rock?
30 Per questo eccomi ai profeti, dice il Signore, i quali rubano le mie parole, ciascheduno al suo fratello.	30 Therefore, behold: I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who steal my words, each one from his neighbor.
31 Eccomi ai profeti (dice il Signore), i quali si formano il proprio linguaggio, e dicono: Dice il Signore.	31 Behold, I am against the prophets, says the Lord, who take up their tongues and say: ‘The Lord says it.’
32 Eccomi ai profeti, che sognano menzogne, dice il Signore, e le raccontano, e seducono il popol mio colle loro menzogne, e co' loro prodigi; quand'io non gli avea mandati, né data commissione a costoro, che non han fatto bene alcuno a questo popolo, dice il Signore.	32 Behold, I am against the prophets, who dream what is false, says the Lord; who explain and so seduce my people with their falsehoods and with their miracles, though I did not send them, nor did I command them. They have offer nothing beneficial to this people, says the Lord.
33 Se adunque ti interrogherà questo popolo, od un profeta, od un sacerdote, e dirà: Quale il peso del Signore? tu dirai loro: Voi siete il peso: perocché io vi getterò via, dice il Signore.	33 Therefore, if this people, or a prophet, or a priest questions you, saying, ‘What is the burden of the Lord?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden. And certainly I will cast you away, says the Lord.’
34 E se un profeta, un sacerdote, o alcuno del popolo dirà: Peso del Signore: visiterò io un tal uomo, e la casa di lui.	34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people who say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ I will visit upon that man and upon his house.
35 Ognun di voi dirà al suo prossimo, e al suo fratello: Che è quello, che ha risposto il Signore? e che ha egli detto il Signore?	35 And then you will speak in this way, each one to his neighbor and to his brother: ‘What has the Lord answered? And what has the Lord said?’
36 E non si nominerà più il peso del Signore; perchè a ciascheduno sarà suo peso la sua parola; perchè voi avete pervertite le parole di Dio vivo, del Signor degli eserciti Dio nostro.	36 And the burden of the Lord will be no longer be called to mind. For each one’s own word will be a burden. For you have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts, our God.
37 Tu dirai al profeta: Che t'ha egli risposto il Signore? e che ha egli detto il Signore?	37 And then you will speak in this way to the prophet: ‘What has the Lord answered you? And what has the Lord spoken?’
38 Che se voi direte: Peso del Signore, per questo cosi dice il Signore: Perchè avete detta questa parola: Peso del Signore; quand'io mandai a dirvi: Non istate a dire: Peso del Signore;	38 But if you say, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ then because of this, thus says the Lord: Since you have spoken this word, ‘The burden of the Lord!’ though I sent to you telling you not to say: ‘The burden of the Lord,’
39 Per questo ecco, che io vi piglierò, e vi porterò, e vi abbandonerò lungi dalla mia faccia, e voi, e la città, ch'io diedi a voi, e ai padri vostri.	39 because of this, behold, I will take you away, like a burden, and I will forsake you, as well as the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, before my face.
40 E farovvi argomento di obbrobrio sempiterno, e di eterna ignominia, dicui non si cancellerà mai la memoria.	40 And I will give you over to an everlasting reproach and an eternal disgrace, which shall never be wiped away into oblivion.”
