1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.	1 - Chiunque crede che Gesù è il Cristo, è nato da Dio. E chiunque ama Colui che lo generò, ama anche colui che è nato da esso.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.	2 Da questo conosciamo che amiamo i figliuoli di Dio, se amiamo Dio e osserviamo i suoi comandamenti.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.	3 Poichè questo è amare Dio, che noi osserviamo i suoi comandamenti; e i suoi comandamenti non sono gravosi.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.	4 Poichè tutto quello che è nato da Dio, vince il mondo, e questa è la vittoria che vince il mondo, la fede nostra.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?	5 Chi è che vince il mondo, se non colui che crede che Gesù è il Figliuolo di Dio?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.	6 Questi è colui che è venuto con l'acqua e con il sangue, Gesù Cristo; non con l'acqua solo, ma con l'acqua e con il sangue. E lo spirito è quello che attesta che Cristo è verità.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.	7 Poichè sono tre che rendono testimonianza in cielo: il Padre, il Verbo e lo Spirito Santo; e questi tre sono una cosa sola.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.	8 E sono tre che rendono testimonianza in terra: lo spirito, l'acqua e il sangue; e questi tre sono una cosa sola.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.	9 Se accettiamo la testimonianza degli uomini, la testimonianza di Dio è maggiore. Ora la testimonianza di Dio, che è maggiore è questa che Egli ha reso al suo Figliuolo.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.	10 Chi crede nel Figliuol di Dio, ha in sè la testimonianza di Dio. Chi non crede al Figliuolo, tiene Dio per bugiardo, perchè non crede alla testimonianza che Dio ha reso al suo Figliuolo.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.	11 E la testimonianza è questa: che Dio ci ha dato la vita eterna. E questa vita è nel suo figliuolo.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.	12 Chi ha il Figliuolo ha la vita; chi non ha il Figliuolo non ha la vita.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.	13 Vi scrivo queste cose, affinchè sappiate che avete la vita eterna voi, che credete nel nome del Figliuol di Dio.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:	14 E questa è la fiducia che noi abbiamo in Lui; che qualunque cosa chiederemo secondo la sua volontà, Egli ci esaudisce.
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.	15 E sappiamo che ci esaudisce, qualunque cosa gli chiediamo; lo sappiamo perchè abbiamo l'effetto delle richieste a Lui fatte.
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.	16 Chi sa che il proprio fratello commette un peccato che non conduce a morte, chieda e sarà data la vita a quello che pecca non a morte. Vi è un peccato a morte: non dico che uno preghi per questo.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.	17 Ogni iniquità è peccato; e vi è peccato a morte.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.	18 Sappiamo che chiunque è nato da Dio, non pecca; ma la divina generazione lo conserva e il maligno non lo tocca.
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.	19 Sappiamo che siamo [nati] da Dio: e tutto il mondo sta sotto al maligno.
20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.	20 E sappiamo che il Figliuol di Dio è venuto e ci ha dato la mente per conoscere il vero Dio, e siamo nel vero suo Figliuolo. Questi è il vero Dio e la vita eterna.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.	21 Figliuolini, guardatevi dagli idoli! Amen.
