1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:	1 Un grand prêtre est choisi d’entre les hommes pour les représenter dans les choses de Dieu, pour offrir leurs dons et les sacrifices pour le péché.
2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.	2 Il sera capable de comprendre les ignorants et ceux qui se trompent, car lui-même sent le poids de sa faiblesse.
3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.	3 Elle est cause qu’il lui faille offrir un sacrifice pour ses propres péchés, tout comme il en offre un pour les péchés du peuple.
4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.	4 Mais personne ne s’attribue cette charge: seulement celui qui est appelé par Dieu comme Aaron.
5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.	5 Ainsi le Christ ne s’est pas attribué à lui-même l’honneur d’être grand prêtre. Il l’a reçu par cette parole: Tu es mon Fils. Moi, aujourd’hui, je t’ai donné la vie.
6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.	6 Et il est dit ailleurs: Tu es prêtre pour toujours dans la ligne de Melkisédek.
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;	7 Quand il vivait sur terre, il a offert ses prières et ses supplications à celui qui pouvait le sauver de la mort: ce fut là son sacrifice, fait de grands cris et de larmes, et son obéissance lui a valu d’être entendu.
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;	8 Tout Fils qu’il était, il a appris à obéir dans la souffrance.
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;	9 Et maintenant qu’il a acquis la perfection, il procure le salut définitif à ceux qui lui obéissent,
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.	10 d’accord avec le titre que Dieu lui a donné: Grand prêtre dans la ligne de Melkisédek.
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.	11 Ce que nous voudrions dire à ce sujet risque d’être long et difficile, car vous êtes devenus lents pour comprendre.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.	12 Après tant d’années vous devriez être des maîtres, mais vous avez besoin qu’on vous rappelle les premiers éléments des paroles de Dieu. C’est du lait qu’il vous faut et non de la nourriture solide.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.	13 Si quelqu’un en est encore au lait, il ne peut entendre ce qu’est vivre selon Dieu: c’est un petit enfant.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.	14 La nourriture solide, par contre, est pour ceux qui sont déjà formés, ceux qui ont le sens intérieur exercé par la pratique et sont capables de reconnaître le bien et le mal.
