Colossians 1

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,	1 Paul, apôtre du Christ Jésus par la volonté de Dieu, et le frère Timothée,
2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 aux saints de Colosses, frères fidèles dans le Christ. A vous grâce et paix de par Dieu notre Père!
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,	3 Nous ne cessons de rendre grâces au Dieu et Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, en pensant àvous dans nos prières,
4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,	4 depuis que nous avons appris votre foi dans le Christ Jésus et la charité que vous avez à l'égardde tous les saints,
5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;	5 en raison de l'espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux. Cette espérance, vous en aveznaguère entendu l'annonce dans la Parole de vérité, l'Evangile
6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:	6 qui est parvenu chez vous, de même que dans le monde entier il fructifie et se développe; chezvous il fait de même depuis le jour où vous avez appris et compris dans sa vérité la grâce de Dieu.
7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;	7 C'est Épaphras, notre cher compagnon de service, qui vous en a instruits; il nous suppléefidèlement comme ministre du Christ,
8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.	8 et c'est lui-même qui nous a fait connaître votre dilection dans l'Esprit.
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;	9 C'est pourquoi nous aussi, depuis le jour où nous avons reçu ces nouvelles, nous ne cessons deprier pour vous et de demander à Dieu qu'Il vous fasse parvenir à la pleine connaissance de sa volonté, en toutesagesse et intelligence spirituelle.
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;	10 Vous pourrez ainsi mener une vie digne du Seigneur et qui Lui plaise en tout: vous produireztoutes sortes de bonnes oeuvres et grandirez dans la connaissance de Dieu;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;	11 animés d'une puissante énergie par la vigueur de sa gloire, vous acquerrez une parfaiteconstance et endurance; avec joie
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:	12 vous remercierez le Père qui vous a mis en mesure de partager le sort des saints dans la lumière.
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:	13 Il nous a en effet arrachés à l'empire des ténèbres et nous a transférés dans le Royaume de sonFils bien-aimé,
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:	14 en qui nous avons la rédemption, la rémission des péchés.
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:	15 Il est l'image du Dieu invisible, Premier-Né de toute créature,
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:	16 car c'est en lui qu'ont été créées toutes choses dans les cieux et sur la terre, les visibles et lesinvisibles, Trônes, Seigneuries, Principautés, Puissances; tout a été créé par lui et pour lui.
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.	17 Il est avant toute chose et tout subsiste en lui.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.	18 Et il est aussi la tête du Corps, c'est-à-dire l'Eglise: Il est le Principe, Premier-né d'entre lesmorts (il fallait qu'il obtînt en tout la primauté),
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;	19 car Dieu s'est plu à faire habiter en lui toute la Plénitude
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.	20 et par lui à réconcilier tous les êtres pour lui, aussi bien sur la terre que dans les cieux, enfaisant la paix par le sang de sa croix.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled	21 Vous-mêmes, qui étiez devenus jadis des étrangers et des ennemis, par vos pensées et par vosoeuvres mauvaises,
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:	22 voici qu'à présent Il vous a réconciliés dans son corps de chair, le livrant à la mort, pour vousfaire paraître devant Lui saints, sans tache et sans reproche.
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;	23 Il faut seulement que vous persévériez dans la foi, affermis sur des bases solides, sans vouslaisser détourner de l'espérance promise par l'Evangile que vous avez entendu, qui a été prêché à toute créaturesous le ciel, et dont moi, Paul, je suis devenu le ministre.
24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:	24 En ce moment je trouve ma joie dans les souffrances que j'endure pour vous, et je complète enma chair ce qui manque aux épreuves du Christ pour son Corps, qui est l'Eglise.
25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;	25 Car je suis devenu ministre de l'Eglise, en vertu de la charge que Dieu m'a confiée, de réaliserchez vous l'avènement de la Parole de Dieu,
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:	26 ce mystère resté caché depuis les siècles et les générations et qui maintenant vient d'êtremanifesté à ses saints:
27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:	27 Dieu a bien voulu leur faire connaître de quelle gloire est riche ce mystère chez les païens: c'estle Christ parmi vous! l'espérance de la gloire!
28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:	28 Ce Christ, nous l'annonçons, avertissant tout homme et instruisant tout homme en toute sagesse,afin de rendre tout homme parfait dans le Christ.
29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.	29 Et c'est bien pour cette cause que je me fatigue à lutter, avec son énergie qui agit en moi avecpuissance.
